I've only recently began to realise, I've been missing out by only playing guitar. I have a drumkit in my room now (my band's drummer brought it round for practices) and since I've been playing that, my right arm has strengthened so much. I can speed pick much faster now. All I have to do now is get my alternate picking while swapping strings sorted and I'll be able to solo great! As an example, I tried to learn Sink Or Swim (Bigwig) ages ago, and couldn't handle the solo bits. Now I can just about nail all of them. Drums = \m/


Maybe I should go back to Master of Puppets as well.... See if I can do that better now.

Drums also improve timing. Most guitarists have horrible timing, but I can tell when the rest of the band is off even without a drummer. It's useful indeed if you have the means.

I'm gonna try to play MOP now for the first time in about 6 months. I'd like it if I can downpick all the thrashy parts like you're meant to now.

I never learned it alt picked, I always learned straight down picking, took forever to nail it :-\

My right arm hurts a lot now. I managed to pull off the verses downpicked throughout, and my God, it makes your arm ache.
