Best avatar ever. ^^ Rep'd for cool avatar.

I'm pissed right now, because yesterday, I went to Best Buy to purchase The Wall. Came out empty handed. Then I went to Blockbuster to rent it, they didn't have it either. America needs more Pink Floyd fans.

DeusExMachina 12-28-2004 10:07 PM

I got the wall at some old used record store. You probably won't find it at a mainstream record store. And if you are referring to the movie, I would suggest Amazon. Actually, they were selling it at Barnes & Noble for awhile too...

Pompeii is a great DVD. Profiles an interesting point of time for Pink Floyd. Still seeking their own musical identity, and on the verge of stardom with DSOTM. Some great songs on it, like One Of These Days, Careful With That Axe Eugene, and of course Echoes.

DeusExMachina 12-29-2004 03:34 PM

A lot of the footage on the DVD is really cool, like of them walking around Pompeii. I really enjoyed it. I was just expecting the concert, but it's actually a lot more than that.

These are some of my favorite songs. I can't get enough of Floyd's songs that are 15 minute mostly instrumental masterpieces. Stuff like Echoes and the entire first disc of Ummagumma. I love those ones.

DeusExMachina 12-29-2004 09:22 PM

I really love Pink Floyd's longer songs. I can't think of a single over 10 minute long Pink Floyd song that I don't like. Then again, I can only think of a couple Pink Floyd songs period that I don't like (The Final Cut comes to mind)

magicbus 12-29-2004 09:51 PM

Yea they're aren't many songs that I don't like. There's a few cds that I've never heard though (AHM, The Final Cut, More, Division Bell), they seem like ones that might not interest me. But you don't know until you try it, I guess.

^ AHM is great, I got my old AHM shirt for xmas!

But yea, the Pompeii DVD is great, all the songs on it are great, it has that one original blues song, made for the DVD on it too, which is cool. It was funny how unresponsive the band was to some of the interview questions.

Kingofdudes 12-29-2004 09:58 PM

My new manager looks like Roger Waters :amaze:

Half the kids at my school look like Syd Barret. It's insane. Maybe it's just the hair. Sorta shaggy and curly and white. :p

EDIT: My friend just sent me a cover song he did of "See Emily Play." I think it's pretty awesome. I would like to share this, but I uhh..don't know how :upset: Could someone tell me so I could let you hear this awesome badass cover song? :D

DeusExMachina 12-30-2004 10:09 AM

I love Echoes. I kind of wished they hadn't split it up on the DVD though.

lukins69 12-30-2004 11:04 AM

Stop making four or five consecutive posts. Put it all in one post.

They split Echoes up on the DVD? nooooooooo... well, I guess it's not that bad since they're both still on there, but that is the ultimate PF song to me, and I'd love to hear it untouched... do you know to what parts they are split up on?

guitarded_chuck 12-30-2004 12:34 PM

After the best part of Echoes, when Dave solos to like a funk sounding part, they stop it. It works fine though. Watching all of Echoes would probably get boring.

Yeah, I like the funky part of Echoes the most.

Kingofdudes 12-30-2004 01:39 PM

The funky part is so much better on Live at Pompeii, and I agree it is one of the better parts of the songs

/me learned a few guitar parts from Echoes last night

lonleybassist 12-30-2004 01:44 PM

i like shine on, and money i can play it in the bass

magicbus 12-30-2004 01:55 PM

Oh man I love the funky parts. This rules man. My favorite funky part ever in on SOYCD pts VI - IX . Its got like the coolest chord progression I've ever heard, and tone itself is enough to make it rule. Ok, listening to it now, the whole funkiness starts at about 6:30, but the awesome chords are at 7:30. DUDES. If you have this song on your computer listen now! THIS RULES.

Lateralias 12-30-2004 02:03 PM

Yeah, the funky parts are the best of Echoes, definitely agreed there... but as most people probably would say that Echoes gets boring, I disagree, that song holds my attention very well, and once I start it, I can't stop until it's over. Another favorite part of mine in Echoes is the progression after the whole strange interlude... with the keyboards coming in around 14:55 or so, and then the guitar comes in and that whole part goes to about 18:42, oh gosh, I love that part, I don't know why but it's awesome.

magicbus 12-30-2004 02:32 PM

Oh yea I know what you mean. That guitar part around 18 something is great. It sounds so enormous, like it just appears outta nowhere. Amazing.

Dude, that is like the same exact thing I always thought. Its like my favorite part of a song ever.

I love that part too... the band is so great at just throwing some random funkyness here and there you know :p . I love that jazzy type keyboard on that part you mentioned too.
i like shine on, and money i can play it in the bass
I went to one of my local music stores looking for a guitar for my cousin. I ended up playing Money on bass. :upset: It was fun.

the_zeppelin_volta 12-30-2004 08:48 PM

Confortably numb is kick *** on The Wall DVD ... by Roger Waters, even if it is not Pink FLoyd but Roger Waters solo, it is great.
And Waters is a genious, and an actor too.
