Actually I can go but all the floor tickets are taken. Not sure if I want to sit through the whole show.
|
Ah, Im hoping they're going to visit Norway in the nearest future.
Im dying to see The Nameless, Before I Forget and Everything Ends live. I wish they would play Skin Ticket, Scissors and Prosthetics. I've never seen those live. I've heard Prosthetics live, thats it. |
Spit it out and Liberate seem to my favorites live.
|
I've heard many Slipknot songs. Joey hasn't impressed me, I'm sorry. All of you seem to love him, but I don't see it. He's good, yeah, and he works with the band, but he's nothing to write home about. Plus I HATE his drum sound. Slipknot's production in genreal is really bad sounding. Maybe they'd be a better band if they lost 4 or 5 members, tuned their guitars up a bit, and starting writing about some different things. (KoRnered? )
I laughed the first time I heard Pulse of the Maggots. The solo is so random and unmelodic, and just all around bad.
wow youre stupid  |
wow youre stupid
Ill say his post made me laugh so hard. |
I guess I can understand a few of the guys opinions, but no justification, and how can a band get better while taking away something? Maybe it sounds better without, but that can go for everything you add to music, not just the seemingly extraneous members in Slipknot. I'm so tired of that statement.
If I knew anything about guitar solos, I might just make a statement about the Pulse of the Maggots comment, but that'd be stupid of me. I wouldn't know a good guitar solo from a jar mayonaise. If I said anything I'd get thrown a bunch of random guitar lingo and feel lame. What I can say though, is that I enjoyed it. How come people always come in here and talk about how we praise Joey anyways? I don't remember ever praising him, or any of the regular people in this thread for that matter. It's just a false statement. |
I think korn has a good drummer. But because the rest of the members are not that great it makes him look kinda bad.
No offence to korn just using as an example. |
they were touring with Unearth and Killswitch right before they started touring with Lamb of God and Shadows Fall. man i would have traded anything to see them with Lamb of God since i never really listened to Killswitch before the concert(although i now consider them one of the very very few hardcore bands i like). and i believe my shirt says that it was the Subliminal Verses tour.
|
Your shirt would just be telling a huge fat lie then.
|
yea that was just a canadian tour i believe, i forget what it was called exactlly, but it definetly was not the sublimital versus tour.

Probably because the Drum forum has had numerous people go in there and be like "omfg joey jordison is the best evar!" and he's clearly not. I've said it before and I'll say it again. Joey (and the rest of Slipknot) are overrated by idiot maggots, and underrated by elitist pricks. |
Joey has been my inspiration for my drumming, But like The_Joz said, There fans overate them.
|
I agree whole heartedly. He's a fine drummer, but not the best in any way, and certaintly not the worst.
|
Hes amazing IMO, He pulls alot of things drummers cant.
|
Hes amazing IMO, He pulls alot of things drummers cant.
Agreed, but by that token, there are drummers who do things he probably can't... See Danny Carey or Mike Portnoy :D |
Oh yeh, Definitly.
|
For me, I don't think Slipknot has much talent. Joey is the most talented of the group, and is a pretty **** good drummer.
Although, Slipknot is just one of those bands where the talent dosen't matter to me. I still like the overall sound of the music that they make. |

yeah, i used to think that. then i bought a dimmu borgir cd and fell in love with nick barker, who i am still convinced is the best drummer ever. if anyone wishes to change my mind, please try. |

He does have strengths. He can do things better than some can, and it goes the other way too. Just because you hear another drummer, and he sounds better, doesn't mean it totally blows away Joey. There doing different things. If Joey plays quad licks fills all the time really well, then the guy from Dimmu does like, amazingly precise blast beats (I haven't heard much Dimmu, this is just an example) that sound cooler than Joey's fills, that doesn't mean he's blatantly better than Joey. I'm not saying either drummers are better than eachother, but this same thing goes on and on in this thread about Joey and it's really ****ing old. It's as bad as the Lars conversations in the Metallica thread (and that's saying something). Arguing over the same thing over and over with someone isn't going to change there mind obviously, as it never has before. Let's not make another 10 page Joey argument. |
do nothing/bitchslap is like good song

i wish paul would do some bass lines like that in newer music. |
i wish paul would do some bass lines like that in newer music.
Yeah, that would be cool. Hell, I'd be happier if he played more fills like he did in "Vermilion". If you listen, there are a couple of cool bass fills here and there...and the bass fill on "Surfacing" is neat too. Paul said he often chooses to lay back and just form a solid rhythm foundation...and that's cool, but yeah...he's got the skill, he should use it a bit more heh |
i'll :chug: 2 slipknot! :thumb:
|
So I've been listening to MFKR, and I just heard Confessions in it's entirety.
Honestly, that might be the best bassline Paul has ever written. Alot of people give him credit for Do Nothing/Bitchslap, but honestly, Confessions >>> Do Nothing. If you ever doubted Paul before, or Do Nothing didn't convince you...go listen to this song. I was blown away. |
confessions is good to but i still like do noting. its badass how they but funk and jazz it to it
|
does any one have the first slipknot cd mfrk i was reading that they only made 1000 copys but you can get it off e-bay for like $350
