$16 = roughly £8

I'd love to go over to America armed with around £100/roughly $185 to just spend on cd's.

Stoic 07-16-2005 03:23 PM

11 to 18 euros here. Second hand rule though like yesterday when I bought a Symphony X album for 5 euros

Lord Abortion 07-16-2005 03:29 PM

That's why amazon is so important over here

Blind guardian albums

HMV import- £20
amazon used and new- £6

Shadows Within 07-16-2005 05:34 PM
Demons and Wizards is a side-project of Jon Schaffer and Hansi Kursch. It's neither Iced Earth, nor Blind Guardian.

Great music though.
i knew it wasnt right

Lord Abortion 07-16-2005 05:39 PM

I will proceed to link you to all the iced earth songs you should listen to to start with

black\m/metal 07-17-2005 12:22 AM

I'd reccomend the Pure Evil live. Soooo sweet. I love that song.

Are there any fans of Hammerfall here? Nobody seems to talk about them much, but they're the band that got me into powermetal.

extreme_191 07-17-2005 01:17 AM

Hammerfall is hit or miss with me, although I only have one of their albums. They can be quite catchy.

I can understand where Strombland's (sp?) influences come from when it comes to his guitar work, especially his solos. He's actually a decent drummer.

As for Power metal I definately need more essential albums.
To this date I have Nevermore's Enemies of Reality, Blind Guardian's A Night At The Opera, COB-FTR, and Hammerfall-To The Brave. I need more...

I'll get another BG album for sure.

Brew 07-17-2005 03:37 AM

Does anyone in here know the band Stille Volk? They're very folky, very good aswell from what I've heard.

Steerpike 07-17-2005 04:00 AM

Well, just finished listening to some Sabaton and Jag Panzer. I think I prefer the former.

Sabaton has a strong Iced Earth/Manowar sort of feel. Stuff you can really headbang to.

Jag Panzer is talented, but I think their guitarist needs to ease up a little. I lose interest in the solos after a while because it's just one big sixteenth note melody most of the time.

So I guess you liked them :) Sure the have the Iced Earth/Manowar but they're quite special as far as their riffage is concerned. They have this neoclassical touch, if you know what I mean.

that may be the best intro riff to a song ever, so so cool

Np-blind guardian- the maiden and the minstrel night

Stoic 07-17-2005 05:17 AM

^The BG song that plays in my head for months now is Mordred's Song

That'd be great, cause they seem to be a fairly unknown band.

Mhm. I'm now a fan of Savatage, Wuthering Heights and Edguy. :thumb: Thanks much.

Bruce is Toby's main influence. I think it's great that Edguy aren't afraid to wear their influences on their sleeves.

My dogged determination is paying off.

If anyone's interested, I'm thinking of uploading Lavatory Love Machine by Edguy. They're possibly the only power metal band that could write a song about the Mile High Club and make it sound good.

This week's spotlight, actually. Thoroughly awesome. I turned Jason into a fan with the uploads.

Give it about 10-15 minutes.

Sadly, that's becoming my catch phrase these days.

Apologies for the double-post.

Awesome. It's now currently downloading at 4.35 KB/sec. O how I love my dial-up :)

Stoic 07-17-2005 12:22 PM

so, it was pretty fun to listen but still way too folkish (=no metal elements in there).

Kronos 07-17-2005 01:20 PM

Steerpike is also wholly responsible for my recent and on-going (and expensive) love affair with Running Wild (have you any idea how many albums that band has made?)
