I'm going in to town today and I'm making sure that I get TROBB single. Exactly two weeks to go now.

PAJJ 08-14-2006 07:30 AM

^ wonderful

anyway back to business, i bought the single, and it sounds sooo good, the vocals are alot clearer, and everything is just beautiful, there's also a painting by 'Benjamin Breeg' on the insert,
it's the same one that was on the website about someone trying to find him (http://www.benjaminbreeg.co.uk, which is still being updated), anyone know what's going on with all this?

GurS 08-14-2006 08:01 AM

Everyone should buy it for the b-side.... those three radio 1 legends session tracks rawked last year.

/am kvlt for hearing it when it was first broadcast last year

MrConeman 08-14-2006 09:59 AM

From Wikipedia:

Benjamin Breeg's identity was created to publicise the release of the single The Reincarnation of Benjamin Breeg. The image attributed to B. Breeg, on the page purportedly created by A. Breeg, is that of Eddie the Head, the zombie figurehead of the band Iron Maiden.

The fictitious back story surrounding Benjamin Breeg is an example of guerilla marketing.

Benjamin Breeg (Born September 3rd, 1939, London) is believed to have been a writer and a painter that dissapeared on 1978 and hasn't been found since then. In the last couple of years, his cousin, A. Breeg (Name can't be found elsewhere) has been tracking him down, still with no more results than the discovery of one of his paintings, and a copy of one of his books.

His name was used by the heavy metal group from East London, Iron Maiden, for the first single of their upcoming album, A Matter Of Life And Death. "The Reincarnation of Benjamin Breeg" has given a lot of attention to A. Breeg's online project to find his lost cousin, because of the curiosity of Iron Maiden's fans of who was Benjamin Breeg.

Theories have been put on the real identity of Benjamin Breeg. Some state that his story is a metaphor for Iron Maidens former singer Paul Di'Anno, some other state that Benjamin Breeg "is" Winston Churchill, while some other claim that Benjamin Breeg was some kind of fantastic being whose story was told to West Ham children at the time of his disappearing. Some even say that Benjamin Breeg is an enigma for Iron Maidens fans (much in the fashion of Pink Floyds Publius Enigma). Another theory states that there is a connection between Derek Riggs' first drawing of Eddie (which was based on the picture of a soldiers head on a Vietnamese tank) and the current cover, the thinking is that maybe the soldier's name was Benjamin Breeg.

Nevertheless, one curious fact is that the http://www.benjaminbreeg.co.uk/ Internet's domain was registered a couple of days before Iron Maiden's web site announce the launching of The Reincarnation of Benjamin Breeg single. This really seem to back up the enigma theory.

tbqh, thats exactly what I thought the BB website was doing.

PAJJ 08-14-2006 10:08 AM

well i always figured they made it up, just wondered where they were going with it really, i love the BB painting of eddie though.

MrConeman 08-14-2006 10:09 AM

"Another theory states that there is a connection between Derek Riggs' first drawing of Eddie (which was based on the picture of a soldiers head on a Vietnamese tank) and the current cover, the thinking is that maybe the soldier's name was Benjamin Breeg."

I'm thinking this part may have some truth though, I mean it adds up, with the tanks and soldiers and all that. More likely though is that its just an enigma for the band to have fun with.

Corkofski 08-14-2006 10:16 AM

oh. my. god.

*comes*

the new single is awesome, only got the 2-track version atm, as airports have **** selection, but will fix that...

pate 08-14-2006 10:31 AM

This is kind of frustrating me. Creating the site for publicity and the B. Breeg painting of Eddie. :(

PAJJ 08-14-2006 10:49 AM

meh, it's hardly thrusted into the public consious as publicity, the only people who know about him are maiden fans looking him up.

pate 08-14-2006 10:50 AM

I know, but the whole making up the site bothers me. Oh well, the song is decent so it's ok.

GurS 08-14-2006 11:11 AM

TROBB single + AMOLAD (deluxe edition with the DVD) on amazon for 20 quid.

Oh yes

Shuk 08-14-2006 11:27 AM

Iron Maiden

Do you think tickets will sell out quickly. I'm a big fan of Iron Maiden but I'm not quite sure if they have reached the popularity where people go nuts and they are sold out on the first day type thing. Will people end up scalping, scrounging for tickets, etc. or will tickets not sell out at all.

BTW, if you don't know how popular Air Canada Centre is, here's an idea. Both Coldplay and RHCP tickets sold out within the first 5-10 minutes and they both had to add another date, that of which also sold out 10 minutes after they added it.

victim of changes 08-14-2006 11:29 AM

got tickets to see maiden in october:thumb: , its crazy cuz its my first concert

I should of done that. But I would've of been too scared that it wouldn't arrive on the day of release. But I've already bought my shiny new TROBB clear vinyl so I'll live.

rik 08-14-2006 01:34 PM

I can't stop listening to BTATS. Such an amazing song. I really need to stop myself though, I don't want to overplay it before the album is even out.

GurS 08-14-2006 01:34 PM

Does anyone want 6 tickets for maiden in Newcastle? I bought them coz I couldn't make the Earl's Court gig. Then they announced a second gig, by which time I had bought Newcastle tickets >_<

Quiksilver26 08-14-2006 02:53 PM

It will sell out fast. Maybe not within minutes, but definitely within the first day... so get your tickets fast

Mr. Black 08-14-2006 02:59 PM

There is a Maiden Thread, man.

Also Maiden are probably the biggest band with the biggest fanbase in the world, They WILL sell out quickly.

Surtr 08-14-2006 09:46 PM

I'm kinda' pissed that I don't get to see Maiden now..I'm so pumped for the Album :(

playguitar 08-14-2006 11:23 PM

I don't listen to anything past Powerslave, besides a few choice songs, such as Fear of the Dark. Bad person?

crag 08-15-2006 03:26 AM
I don't listen to anything past Powerslave, besides a few choice songs, such as Fear of the Dark. Bad person?
Yes very bad. Some of their greatest albums come after Powerslave eg. Somewhere in Time, 7th Son of a 7th Son, The X-Factor and Brave New World:)

Moi aussi.

I can't listen to the preview tracks any more because my internet breaks every 20 seconds.:(

-The Frank 08-15-2006 07:35 AM

^ sucks for you

I dont think i will be buying any of the singles, seeing as how i have the radio 1 tracks already on my cocmputer.

I would buy the singles if they had something new on them though.

Apocalyptic Raids 08-15-2006 08:13 AM
Also Maiden are probably the biggest band with the biggest fanbase in the world.
They aren't that big.

-The Frank 08-15-2006 09:36 AM

They're actually alot bigger then one might think though. But still, they arn't the biggest band in the world anymore.

crag 08-15-2006 09:40 AM

I would buy TROBB if it was eligible for the charts, but otherwise i probably won't buy it.

-The Frank 08-15-2006 09:45 AM

And really, its just another version of hallowed be thy name for a B-side. Dont gert me wrong HBTN is a great song, but i have heard it a million times. They should put something new and fresh as a B-side

PAJJ 08-15-2006 11:42 AM

Bah you can't have too many versions of Hallowed :p
it is a really good version though, but i do agree something different as a b-side would be brilliant.

pate 08-15-2006 01:42 PM

pate 08-15-2006 02:39 PM

...those who died at Paschendale.

Speaking of, I learned it on guitar yesterday. Fun to play, it is.

PAJJ 08-15-2006 02:57 PM

oh you mentioned paschendale, now i can't hate you........
it is very fun to play, not quite as fun as POTO, but definitley up there, although i need to learn the solos, but that's would take effort :-/

pate 08-15-2006 05:55 PM

Yeah, POTO is a little more fun but playing Paschendale is still a boatload of fun.

GurS 08-15-2006 11:44 PM

Paschendale sounds better on an acoustic, though.

crag 08-16-2006 03:19 AM
Yeah, POTO is a little more fun but playing Paschendale is still a boatload of fun.
This is true:)

I've always found SSoaSS and Moonchild incredibly fun to play for some reason.

Apocalyptic Raids 08-16-2006 04:48 AM

I heard Different World earlier. It was better than TROBB, but I still though it was pretty average.

rik 08-16-2006 07:12 AM

You heard 'Brighter than a Thousand Suns' yet? Much, much better then those two imo.
