Music theory is the best class I've ever taken, unless you count Orchestra as a class.

gmoneyguy 01-06-2005 09:25 PM
Sweet :thumb:

I'll probably take a theory class next year.
Its awesome, I was kinda scared cause I can't sight read, but she is gonna teach us that.

I can sight read pretty well, I really need to get into that class.

gmoneyguy 01-06-2005 09:27 PM

Its great for improve , you will learn aural theory, scales, keys, chord structures, and more.

DeusExMachina 01-06-2005 09:30 PM

If you take a theory class, make sure not to slack off at all. If you slack, it's useless, but if you really work hard and try to get ahead, it can make you a much better musician. Like, before I took that class, I couldn't match pitch to save my life, and now I'm working on developing perfect pitch. Still a long way off, but it helped so much it's unbelievable.

jpj 01-06-2005 09:30 PM

I must take that class, but with my luck the school got rid of it due to lack of funds. It sucks being in a poor county :(

RockAndRoll 01-06-2005 09:33 PM

I think they need more music classes available at the highschool level not just your regular "vocal" and "instrumental"(of course I'm dreaming now, they don't have the funds)

Badmoon 01-06-2005 09:35 PM

Dude that's one of the best songs on the dvd. Its rules so hard.

I won't be taking a theory class until next year. Not offered in high school.

:p (ZING)

My school has many music courses. I think i'll take a theory course considering it's too late to try to learn a "band" instrument.

Yay for The Grateful Dead being a contender for the wild card. :D

It's true. JPJ's dark secret. It doesn't matter anyway because Pearl Jam dominated.

funk_rock_jazz_drummer 01-07-2005 02:13 PM

heres my Question: Why is Classic Rock suddenly "In." It pains me to see some kid who just grew his hair out, wearing brand new converse, and a led zeppelin shirt or a Dark side of the moon shirt. Hmmm, im just ranting here... but c'mon agree with me.

For example: My neighbor, who is 14, is suddenly a raving lunatic when it comes to led zeppelin. Apparently his favorite album is, of course, Led Zeppelin IV. Guess what his favorite song is. Yup, you guessed it. The ironic thing is, not more than a year ago, his big thing was rap.

To give this a point, American Beauty is a great album.

Yes, my dark secret which I tell everyone as soon as American Beauty is mentioned

The only song on there I can listen to without falling to sleep is Truckin'. Maybe it'll grow on me like Working Man's Dead did.

So I'm listening to Moondance on the site right now, and I really like it. Is it one of Van Morrison's better albums and is it a good one to start with?

ooba doooba 01-07-2005 04:21 PM

yeah thats right

Woodstock 01-07-2005 04:32 PM

I haven't listened to much Van Morrison, I should be getting Astral Weeks. I need Badmoon's opinion on it though.

magicbus 01-07-2005 04:36 PM

I also don't like American Beauty, only Truckin'. ALSO, I voted Aqualung.

jpj 01-07-2005 04:38 PM

It's good to know I'm not the only one who's like that.

BludgeonySteve 01-07-2005 04:40 PM

You guys suck, Box Of Rain, Sugar Mangolia, Friend Of The Devil, Ripple???

you guys deserve a banjo smiting by badmoon.

thickasabrick 01-07-2005 04:46 PM

My favourite Van Morrison album is Moondance, I only have a couple, and I'm not sure how many he put out..but that's the best one I have.

And how could anyone not vote for American Beauty? In spite of being an admitted Jethro Tull fanboy, I can still admit that American Beauty is way better than all those other albums up there.

jpj 01-07-2005 04:47 PM

I could easily not vote for it due to the fact that it puts me to sleep.

ooba doooba 01-07-2005 04:48 PM

you are a bad man then

BludgeonySteve 01-07-2005 04:48 PM
you are a bad man then
I agree, but **** off.

DeusExMachina 01-07-2005 04:48 PM

Van Morrison is awesome. Astral Weeks is great, as is Moondance. Also, Tupelo Honey is a great album.

thickasabrick 01-07-2005 04:50 PM
I could easily not vote for it due to the fact that it puts me to sleep.
Dark Side of the Moon puts me to sleep, actually, I listen to it just about every night before I go to bed...but it's still my favourite album.

I always sleep during my favourite albums, it's the crappy ones that keep me awake. I'm not sure why though, I think good albums just put my brain and body at ease.

ooba doooba 01-07-2005 04:50 PM
I agree, but **** off.
no reason to be so mean little man

thickasabrick 01-07-2005 04:53 PM

hahahaha. that was funny...little man. that's good stuff.

But honestly, this isnt the thread for fighting. Rock doesn't like you Ooba, so you have two choices: leave this thread, or change the quality of your posts so maybe he might get mad at you.

adam88 01-07-2005 04:54 PM

the beatles' music always amazes me. i only wish i was around in the height of beatlemania

Then I guess a better way to put it is that I find it to be boring as hell and I can't stand to listen to it. Why would I vote for it when there's Aqualung, an album which I love more and more every time I listen to it.

ooba doooba 01-07-2005 04:54 PM

i have as much right to be here as he does.

magicbus 01-07-2005 04:57 PM

Music doesn't put me to sleep anymore. It sucks cause I always listen to music when I go to bed, and then I wake up and its still on, so I turn it off. But I always fall asleep when watching music dvds. Go figure.

And I've listened to American Beauty a few times. It just didn't interest me. Very quiet, wasn't feelin it.
