wtf just happened to my brain? |
You can't. The length of the crack is usually a good indicator, but not always.
Without seeing it, I suspect that 1, the crack is down the length of the bass (parallel to the strings and does not indicate a wood stress crack), and 2, that the temperature variation between Illinois and Texas is the cause. Wood glue expands and contracts, just like wood, except it is probably more susceptible to the temperature variation.
the crack runs in the opposite, but parallel, direction as the neck in almost a straight line for about 3 inches on the back of the bass (right along the seam) it wraps around the bottom of the bass for about a half inch so what youre saying is the wood glue on the seam expanded/contracted, which stressed the finish/paint, causing it to crack a little? |

That part of the bass (I presume they use a standard 3-piece body), is under such a negligibly small amount of stress that it's got to be the paint. If it doesn't bother you, just leave it - it's not structural. If it does bother you, some super glue (the liquid, not the gel), and various sanding grits should disguise it. |

I attended a colloquium yesterday entitled Topological Symmetries of Molecules and my head is still rocked from that. It basically tied in a bunch of Knot Theory and Graph Theory with a few Topological proofs (in R^3) and used them to help classify non-rigid molecules.
Interesting. Hard to follow (given that I'm nowhere near that advanced in any of those topics to fully comprehend it), but I understood a fair amount of it and found it to be pretty cool. Who knew that chemists hired on pure mathematicians to do stuff like that. |
Maybe they like to mix up some chemicals that help them appreciate it.

The show went amazingly last night. We packed the place and they asked us to play again. They literally told us to pick any date we want and we can have it.
|
Pick a Tuesday about 11am.
|
Nah, we picked a Friday in April. We're all booked up until then with lots more shows. |
Pulling out nostril hairs has to be one of the sharpest pains there is.

We had that happen with a bar here. It's a pretty awesome feeling to rock the show and have the bookers pumped enough to just rebook you right then and there. |
That would be nice. Most venues here the booker is never even at the gigs.

Yeah, it's a great feeling. It's a tiny place, but we packed. There was absolutely no room to move. There was no stage, we just set up in the corner and everyone was smushed in around us. I had about one or two feet between myself and the crowd (including the room my pedalboard took up) and maybe one foot behind me in case I wanted to move a little bit. The funniest thing was watching people walking into the venue for the first time and being shocked when there was no where to go. People just walked in the surprise on their faces was priceless. The moment they walked in the door they instantly became part of this mass of bodies. |

I've desensitised myself to this. |
I find if they're on the side of the nostril that is nearer the point of the nose they don't hurt as much, but ones on the softer skin nearer the inside are really sensitive. Brings tears to my eyes.
|
they're the ones you can leave though. unless you have horrendously long nostril hair o_O
|
Slice It is a really fun phone game for anyone who enjoys shapes and lines.
|
Don't pluck your nose hairs - twist them. It's painless and they snap off near the root.
Alternatively, buy a nose-hair trimmer. I find that the feeling of a clean nose + netti pot is so rewarding. |
Your twisting method sounds worth a shot.

What's next? Discussions on how to trim unruly ear hairs?

I want lessons on how to make an unruly hippo submit with only the aid of a branch from a willow tree.

That's for next week's discussion. Today we have a symposium on "Armpit Shaving and its Effects on Pheremone Production."
I want lessons on how to make an unruly hippo submit with only the aid of a branch from a willow tree.
So you want to control a fat chick with only dick-slapping abilities? I presume this question is euphemistic. |
Flaccid dick-slapping abilities.
|
You've gotta do that rolling motion you see in the porn, man. Like tuck it over the top and then slam down like your man pipe is the very hammer of Thor.

Ears have hair? |
Do you ever lower your action just slightly every three or four months? I've been trying it, and I'm noticing that there's very little fret clicking; it's forcing me to play just a bit softer, but not unnaturally so. I definitely feel more fluid and controlled.
|
Nah, my action has been the same for years.

If it's not really low, you're missing out on some great ergonomics. |
