how many mr jackalopes does it take to screw in a lightbulb?
a. as many black people as he enslaves lololol
lollercaust hey what's the worst thing about being zmev? not hating black people. |
the Cure has one great album (Disintegration) and 20000 attempted remakes of it.
The Smiths are solid. not flawless, quite a few of their songs kinda drag. but for the most part they are consistently good.
Falso. The Cure have some wicked singles and like 3 awesome albums, and everything the Smiths recorded is utter genius and should be the source of comparison for all music that has come after it, making them the second best band ever after The Hold Steady. But really though, the Smiths sort of rule. |
Led Zeppelin - Early Days and Latter Days
haven't pulled out the Zeppelin in a while  still awesome
Also I'm listening to The Queen is Dead because on another forum I go to more than this one someone said the Cure was better than the Smiths and what kind of nonsense is that?
No way man. The Smiths are far better. The Cure are too inconsistent. |
yeah i guess.
dear you is one of the best records ever go listen to that edit: futuresex/lovesounds has some pretty good songs
i have Dear You. it's soo cool. except i don't like how the singer doesn't use any form of dynamic range at all on that CD (because i heard apparently he had throat surgery shortly before they recorded it?). EDIT: nevermind he had the surgery before 24 Hour Revenge Therapy. but i guess the effects carried on. |
No way man. The Smiths are far better. The Cure are too inconsistent.
That's sort of exactly what I implied, son. |
The Smiths are probably the better band, but I prefer The Cure at their best to The Smiths at their best.
If I go see The Moutain Goats in January, John Vanderslice is supporting. That should be good. |
sounds like a premium show
|
I saw the Mountain Goats last weekend and they ruled, as would be expected. The opener was awful, Vanderslice should be a lot better. If he does a solo show, though, it could go either way, his band is a big part of making his show awesome.

Blonde Redhead - Melody of Certain Damaged Lemons
Leonard Cohen - Songs of Leonard Cohen |
Joe Strummer & The Mescaleros - Streetcore
I'd say this is as solid as anything Joe put out with The Clash. Get Down Moses is some seriously funky shi't. |
I have a song on my computer called Mondo Bongo, I have no idea where its from, but it's Joe Strummer and the Mascaleros.....and it's exceedingly good.

Emily Haines - Knives Don't Have Your Back
Joshua Fit For Battle - To Bring Our Own End La Quiete/Louise Cyphre Split |
Opeth - Blackwater Park I'm becoming obsessed with this album.
I condescended to buy the P!ATD album and it isn't bad. Muse - Black Holes and Revelations I've recently discovered that this album is as good, if not better, than Absolution. Emily Haines - Knives Don't Have Your Back As good as anything by Metric, seriously. I love her voice. Sonic Youth - Rather Ripped I actually think this is quite a good SY album. Beck - The Information Nice new direction from him. I finally decided to give and in and listen to some Pavement. I like Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain better than Slanted and Enchanted. I got The Queen is Dead. OH MY FING GOD It's genius. The Smiths are now as good as the Cure in my eyes. Well, not really, because I've only heard one album, and most Cure albums are awesome. |
I got Nas-Illmatic on the vinyl classic series thing, and it is a good album, though a little short. I also got Thursday- Full Collapse which seems to be good though I havent really listened to it yet.

Talking Heads - Fear of Music
I don't know why everyone considers this such a weak album, I think it's great. |
I like it, too. It might be my second favorite Heads album, depending on the week.
Also, about to shower but afterwards, I plan on chilling to some Smokey Robinson and TV on the Radio. Saw the latter live yesterday (see picture in community thread). So ****ing loud, it literally hurt. |
It's great, it's just not as great as all the stuff before and immediately after it. Used to be my favourite Talking Heads I think, but now it's something like fourth.
|
I'm digging the song I recorded today.

"Young Bride" is indeed a great song.

Been digging The Mars Volta - Amputechture, Mogwai - Mr. Beast and Raised Fist.

Dirty Three - Cinder
This is probably my favourite Dirty Three album. |
"Doris" destroys so much.
|
Silver Jews - Tanglewood Numbers
|
Man, it's all so good. "She Passed Through" is probably my favourite, but "Great Waves" (with Cat Power) is pretty awesome too.
