Since when do you have to demonstrate effects to be precise on your recording? He could have recorded them with a 3 dollar mic he bought at a pawn shop, but regardless the album sounds better than anything he's ever done production-wise.

Well he stated that he can't remember any of the gear he used and doesn't really think it matters so I don't think he really paid much detail to the precision of the production or even to what instruments he used. I agree that the sound on Filosofem is probably the best, but I wouldn't say it's a result of precision, but it's semantics anyway so who cares. I will say that Pytten did do a good job as sound engineer on all the early Norwegian releases.

Filosofem is really good for the first three tracks. The last three tracks suck - especially that 25 minute boring-as-**** ambient song.
