hey Jake, how do you expect to just tell cain he's gay?
^^^^^

I just found out that Opeth is being supported at their "Evening with" show in NYC by a company of ballerinas that apparently dance to metal music.

Moses 02-05-2006 11:15 AM
Well, since Dr. Jake doesn't come here anymore () you can take over.
Actually he's been on here a little more often lately.

Does anyone know if there's a faster way to do this drummer's poll? It's taking me forever.
That was a lightning delete, Axe.

I couldn't even reply to the thread for a second. Weird.

What did you do? You just can't come in here and tease us like that.
I mostly got into a very long, humorous argument with two other guys (also drunk). They were trying to tell me I was emo and very gay, I argued that I was straight and soooooo metal. But then I offered to have sex with some guy's girlfriend, luckily they were sober and thought it was funny.

I also tried to convince everyone around me that I was very coherent for a drunk guy. Unfortunately, I collapsed against a cabinet and cut my finger on it, so I don't think they believed me.

And a few other things that I don't want to mention.

I couldn't tell you, probably about a third of the way through and it's taking sooo long.

I kinda know how you feel. I wish there was a faster way to do my English essays.

You're going to a metal show with seats? How un-metal. I've never been to a concert with seats and I've seen like 100 bands.

Well, it's not like anyone will be sitting. Besides, the idea is to have a variety of "artistic" representation: Town Hall normally puts on dance shows and stuff like that.

It's kind of less a "metal show" and more like "epic artistic reflection with Opeth as the primary focal point." According to the venue and the ballerinas, anyways.

My cousin went to a Slayer show with seats (they still managed to have a pit) and Im going to a Dream Theater show at Radio City Music Hall in NY which has seats. I dont think its that uncommon, at least in America.

Like twenty in the thread but on the Word document it's like 58.

They're making a DVD at Radio City. The tickets to that show are so ungodly expensive. The best ones are like 1,500 dollars. How is it that you're going?

Anyway I've just had a lazy day playing Dungeon Siege 2, pretty good game actually.

I bought 2 tickets a few weeks ago. Each was about $130 bucks. It was expensive but worth it in my opinion. I want to be on that DVD. I may run onstage at the end of the show or something.

Well, I'd like seats at a Dream Theater or an Opeth show, to nap. :)

I never go to expensive shows, though, maybe that's why I never get seats. I hardly ever pay anything over €20. I'd never ever pay 50 dollars for Opeth.

Do you get a specific seat or do you just pick one? Because I don't see very well, so I'd see nothing of the show if I got stuck in the back and I'm not gonna bother to bring my glasses. Standing up all the time kills my legs, though, but you said no one sits down anyway, but I'd like to know that I can.

Still, for a metal show, I think it's better not to have seats, regardless of how arty Opeth try to be. ;)

Really sad too. Even though it's a movie I felt like crying towards the end. I hardly ever get that emotional at films.

How about you eat some poo.

Yeah, it'll be interesting. I already saw Opeth a few months ago, I'm primarily going to hear how they play the old old stuff off of Morningrise and Orchid and such.

EDIT: The Pianist is easily a better Holocaust film than Schindler's List, IMO. It has much more truth to it. In SL the Nazis are all sadistic beasts and Schindler himself is messianistic. It's an unrealistic portrayal of the Holocaust, regardless of the fact that it was a true story. Schindler may have saved a few hundred Jews but millions more perished, and THAT'S the accurate portrayal: one of death. The Pianist is good at showing that.

I loved the side observations of the uprisings in both the ghetto and Warsaw proper. Those would make some great movies. Actually, the movie "Uprising" is really quite excellent, about the Warsaw ghetto uprising.

Me too. I loved the part where he plays the piano as the nazi officer watched him. I think it struck me more then the other people around me because I'm a musician. Some parts were very grotesque though, like when they threw the elderly crippled man out the window or walked along the row of people shooting them.

Jev 02-05-2006 11:50 AM

I had the chance to see Opeth at Download '03. But I got dragged away to see Powder by my mate and his dad. Utter twats they were.

Yeah, I know what you mean. Adrien's dedication to the film surprised me too. He took Piano lessons and towards the end of the movie he actually stopped eating for a while and lost loads of weight.

You get a specific seat. Im in row G which is pretty close, but over to the left (Myung's side). I would have liked it better if I was dead center or on Petrucci's side. I happy with where the seats are though.

Please, let us reatin solid friendships in this gathering place for listeners of rock and metal. I come here to enjoy the company of my peers and engage in friendly, casual conversation. But most of all, I come here to get away from the hateful things in the world and civilly discuss things we all care about.

I still feel a little light-headed and dizzy.
