All CD, it was totalled at $35. Not a very good deal, but I wanted these.
thats very cheap for three amazing cd's. i bought a "best of" jethro tull album for almost 30 bucks, just to add to my collection. the songs on it werent even their best, in the liner notes Ian Anderson clearly apoligizes and says that they had to fit exactly twenty songs onto the cd, so they had to choose songs that would fit, not songs that were their best effort. they also tried to portray all the different eras and genres of music tull was apart of. their eighties stuff didn't dazzle me too much.

edit- maybe we are talking in different money. i am talking canadian.

and to catch up...

my favourite Pink Floyd album is either DSOTM or Meddle, i wasn't as impressed by Animals as i should have been. My favourite zeppelin album is houses of the holy. my favourite solo of all time...hmm, probably anything by David Gilmour, or the solo to Axis Bold as Love.

Woodstock 11-26-2004 04:25 PM

Animals didn't impress you! oh well.

My favorite solo would have to be the one in All Along The Watchtower-Hendrix version.

I hate you. He's one of the few left that have a heart.

i was impressed by the music, just not the overall theme. i was expecting something very grand (is that considered pompous?), after hearing DSOTM and then WYWH. Both those albums had great music, as well as amazing concepts and the overall albums fit together like a painting...animals didn't seem that way with me. The Wall was more of the album i was expecting at the time, with the great plot and all (well when i say at the time, i mean two years ago when i got into Floyd).

/about Animals.

Badmoon 11-26-2004 04:33 PM

I'm sawwwwyy. Me & the Big G accept all.

Big G = God

thickasabrick 11-26-2004 04:35 PM

what do you guys think is the best written vocals for a song? i dont mean just lyrics, but the melodies and harmonies used? I would say probably Good Vibrations, Bohemian Rhapsody or various songs by Simon and Garfunkel.

edit- i suppose it would be a sin to leave out Great Gig in the Sky..it didn't even need lyrics it was written so well.

I bought Atom Heart Mother today. I've only listened to the first song so far, and it was sooo wierd, but it was awesome.

i love the first string of songs, but after that it seemed to drop off. i usually just listen to the first half of the album...too lazy to flip it over.

congratulations Badmoon. you win the internet.

ya Across the Universe is probably one of my favourite songs lyrically. the first time i heard it i was amazed (at the time i had only heard songs like Twist and Shout, and Hard Days Night)

Badmoon 11-26-2004 05:05 PM

magicbus 11-26-2004 05:45 PM

How can you call Animals musially uninteresting  Well, we can't all like the same thing.

MalcolmYoungRock 11-26-2004 06:10 PM

I am so fricking happy right now.

I just put down 40 big ones for the new guitar.

Comes in the shop tomorrow.

/is happy.

On the topic of Classic Rock, I got Animals, WYWH and White Ablum because I had money to spend. And a Doors DVD.

On the topic of the Doors, Val Kilmer plays Jim Morrison in that... wasn't he Iceman in Top Gun?

jpj 11-26-2004 06:13 PM

Yea, I'm pretty sure he was.

Just $40 dollars?!

gmoneyguy 11-26-2004 06:28 PM

It sounds like a down payment.

Badmoon 11-26-2004 06:29 PM

I'm going to buy an electric acoustic soon :)

gmoneyguy 11-26-2004 06:34 PM

I want too, but I need a half stack more.

Illmatic 11-26-2004 06:50 PM

Good guitars go for hundreds of dollars (hell, Les Pauls routinely go for over a grand)...40 bucks won't do much.

Thanks for pointing out the obvious. He probably has an installment plan of some sort for his guitar.

Illmatic 11-26-2004 06:55 PM

You're welcome.
