Apocalyptic Raids 08-04-2006 12:17 AM

Seventh Son is definitely Maiden's best.

crag 08-04-2006 07:23 AM

SSOASS is great, not my favourite though. I think it would come about 4th on my list:)

Arlan89 08-04-2006 08:06 AM

That was my first Iron Maiden album. I remember the goosebumps during the The Evil That Men Do solo. Great album but I never really liked Can I Play With Madness.

MrRhodes 08-04-2006 03:02 PM

Seventh Son of a Seventh Son is my favourite album, as well as Brave New World.

Daven 08-04-2006 03:03 PM

Brave New World ims definitely my favorite, followed by 7th son....

MrRhodes 08-04-2006 03:08 PM

I just can't decide between the two, they are both amazing. I could maybe go towards BNW slightly more cause it has Blood Brothers on it, one of my very favourite Maiden songs ever. But then again, don't know what the new album is going to be like yet so that might take over, I can't wait to hear it. And for the earlier subject I think the new video is decent, I agree that they have there ups and downs.

Surtr 08-04-2006 05:15 PM

I'm in Montreal for the weekend. Bought SSOASS and Somewhere In Time along with a NOTB and BOTB T-shirts. :D

Quiksilver26 08-04-2006 05:37 PM

Nice, i've only got a FotD shirt... and SiT is definitely becoming one of my favourite Maiden albums ever.

FatalEnergy 08-04-2006 05:38 PM

I have so many Iron Maiden shirts I don't even think I could list them. I have easily 10 or 12

the_uber_penguin 08-04-2006 06:06 PM

It's really hard to call which of those two albums is better: BNW or SSOASS.

Both have one possible skip track (CIPWM and The Nomad). Both have excellent songs and the guitar work is equivilent.

I can't even say that Bruce sounds better on one then the other: both those albums feature his best ever work.

Both have some absolute classics: Moonchild, The Wickerman, The Evil That Men Do, The Fallen Angel: and some superb epics like Infinite Dreams (not quite an epic, but meh) and Dream Of Mirrors, Seventh Son and TTLBLAH...I really can't call it.

The only thing which really is different between them is the song order: SSOASS orders the songs in a way that they can be intrepted as a story, while BNW doesn't (not without any great difficulty and imagination anyway).

I might have to say that BNW has more content (it's longer) but SSOASS is better as an overall album.

PAJJ 08-04-2006 06:29 PM

Between SSoaSS & BNW i'd probably go SSoaSS, i mean they're pretty even, and both contain 2 of my fav maiden songs ID and TFA, but SSoaSS wins based on having better artwork :p

Deth 08-04-2006 08:59 PM

Damn Maiden not touring US properly .

pep 08-04-2006 09:13 PM

Damn Maiden never touring Mexico  .

Daven 08-04-2006 09:15 PM

Damn Maiden never touring Central America.

lamb_of_goddrummer 08-04-2006 09:42 PM

Damn Maiden never touring Turkey.

I dont listen to too much Maiden, kick a$$ band though, as you all know. I have Edward the Great: Greatest Hits, and just a mix of Maiden. I like all of the hits, besides Flight of the Icarus, I cant stand that song.

Deth 08-04-2006 09:50 PM

I can't stand Edward the Great. The song selection is just the singles, and is very weak because of it.

lamb_of_goddrummer 08-04-2006 09:53 PM

like i said, i dont listen to much of them, so i am not going to dive into each album to find songs that are good but arent singles.

clown_phobia 08-04-2006 10:39 PM

what's rock in rio like? I love live after death, how does RIR compare?

Daven 08-04-2006 10:44 PM

The album?

pate 08-04-2006 10:53 PM

It's really good.

JamJar 08-05-2006 05:16 AM

Get the DVD over the album for Rock In Rio. The DVD captures the energy so well.

MrRhodes 08-05-2006 07:00 AM

Rock In Rio DVD is amazing.

Grom 08-05-2006 11:05 AM
Rock In Rio DVD is amazing.
I second that.

Terrorzone 08-05-2006 12:39 PM

I third that. That DVD truly got me into them.

i prefer the cd way more, the crowd has been turned down to much on the dvd so on parts where they sing its no more than a whisper were on the cd it is a bellow

/gets +1 intellect for sounding clever

/loses 5 intellect for making himself sound stupid

victim of changes 08-05-2006 01:46 PM

I only have the CD

Quiksilver26 08-05-2006 02:55 PM

I'm actually listening to the album now, the sound on it is just kick ass. Right now listening to the harmonizing part near the end of BNW, so fucking good \m/

btw has anyone played the Edhunter game at all??

 i've always wanted to play that game. I can't find it anywhere though :(
Is that the wee cheesy one on their site?
No, it's a proper game for the PC where you run around as Eddie :p

MrRhodes 08-05-2006 06:09 PM

Oh... and do what? :p

Deth 08-05-2006 06:47 PM

I considered buying Ed Hunter for $30 but decided against it. It sucks in all likelyhood anyway.

MrRhodes 08-05-2006 07:31 PM

Hm.. I'll not bother trying it then.

JamJar 08-06-2006 03:55 AM
 i've always wanted to play that game. I can't find it anywhere though :(
Really? I can nearly always find it in my local Virgin. I've never even considered buying it though because it looks awful :p
I can't stand Edward the Great. The song selection is just the singles, and is very weak because of it.
It's for someone who is just getting into maiden to buy.

And you guys could find edhunter on any torrent site me thinks. ( that is, if you wanted it.)

ashman 08-06-2006 08:49 PM

I might have to download Edhunter, always wanted to play it.

They have better best-of's though, for sure.

Surtr 08-08-2006 11:07 AM

I saw Ed-Hunter when I was in Montreal over the Weekend..I was going to get it but it was $40CAN and I was already at $100 on CD's :p

So I guess my friend isn't so much digging TROBB anymore..and he's questioning going to Maiden with me..:( So basiclly..if he doesn't go, I have no reason to go to a Maiden gig by myself :(

Lord Abortion 08-08-2006 11:29 AM

Meh, it's Maiden, who cares who you go with?

PAJJ 08-08-2006 11:34 AM

Go by yourself, some gigs are alot better when you're by yourself.
plus when i go with other peple it's not like i spend alot with them, and go and watch the band and have fun.

plus it's maiden so you actually have to go

Shattered_Future 08-08-2006 12:04 PM

I recently found out that Maiden is actually playing near me. Then I realized I have no money and no ride.

Curse ****ing driving laws.
