Haha, can't argue with that.

the2stranger 06-08-2007 05:29 AM

I don't really ahve a clue how to handle this, but I want to say that the RMOTM comp is becoming more andmore a spamfest then a thread to reward those who have beendoing good things for the forum.

I know we have already changed the rule of winning more then once (after a 6 month period), but still, I feel that we're just going down on thelist and everyone who hasn'twon yet will win next months.
And besides that it's just sarcstic nominations and whining for being nominated.

As I said, I don'tknow how to solve this, but jst want to check other peoples thoughts on this matter.

Apocalyptic Raids 06-08-2007 05:51 AM

the comp has been stale for a long time now.

repcak 06-08-2007 07:45 AM

i agree with you... solution?! hm... it should be stricter, with more rules and everyone who say "nominate me" should be either banned (which would be too strict) or the moderators shall delete his post.

Eliminator 06-08-2007 07:52 AM

lol

Dr. Jake Destructo 06-08-2007 11:33 AM

RMOTM ceased importance after I won.

Kage 06-08-2007 11:47 AM

'RMOTM" is essentially "Nominate all the regs." But we can't stop doing it, it's like something you keep doing even after it loses its purpose because it's tradition.

Nepenthe 06-08-2007 01:16 PM

It's like our little Masonic Lodge.

Lunch 06-08-2007 03:26 PM

RMOTM must go on until I win

Nepenthe 06-08-2007 03:27 PM

Which is NEVER!

LifeInABox 06-08-2007 03:28 PM

excuse my ignorance, but what are the referrals?

Lunch 06-08-2007 03:29 PM

People like us give them to noobs then they have to go to Bartender's office :O

LifeInABox 06-08-2007 03:30 PM

uhhh, I still don't get it. Again, excuse my ignorance.

Nepenthe 06-08-2007 03:31 PM

I'm going to have to give you a referral for all of this hottiebassplayer.

Lunch 06-08-2007 03:31 PM

What they actually are is when you get someone else to register on MX

LifeInABox 06-08-2007 03:36 PM

Oh, yeah I remember now. Gratsi.

"Latest Reputation Received"

What does this mean exactly?

Jom 06-09-2007 03:58 PM
"Latest Reputation Received"

What does this mean exactly?
The reputation feature on the forums is a tool where users recognize each other, for good and for ill. There is no reward or cash prize for having a lot (or very little) of rep points, because it's nothing more than a private messaging system between users, for the most part.

However, there are some (maybe two or three) users who take reputation seriously, and rep users for positive contributions (or negative contributions, if the contribution in question sucks).

To rep somebody, click on the x/check box below a user's avatar.

To view your own rep, look in your user control panel, towards the middle of the page.

Blashyrkh 06-09-2007 04:02 PM

I hope I'm not annoying you but I don't understand. What would it mean if I were to click on the check/X right now in the reply you just posted?

Jom 06-09-2007 04:04 PM

You'll get a dialog box that says "I approve" or "I disapprove" of the post. If you approve of it or thought it was helpful or funny or whatever criteria you may have, then you click on "I approve" and if you so desire type in a message.

Vice-versa if you thought the post sucked.

The reputation system is designed so that users who have a lot of reputation points can add (or subtract) points from other users to a greater degree than newer users or, for lack of a better term, less-popular users.

EDIT: or what the dude below me said.

Nostalgia 06-09-2007 04:05 PM

It's just a reputation thing. If you like what the person has posted and feel he deserves reputation points, you click the little box and write whatever message you choose.

If you dislike what the person has posted and feel you need to take his reputation points away, you negative rep them. When you click the little /X box you have the option I approve or I dissaprove (approve being positive rep and dissaprove being negative rep).

There's a little number in the top right-hand corner of your reputation box (located in your Ucer CP) that shows how much reputation points you have. I just positive rep'd you, so now you have more points.

EDIT: Yeah, Jom's just faster.

Blashyrkh 06-09-2007 04:08 PM

Oh ok I get it now. Thanks for the help!

Edit: Is there a way to check if someone gave negative rep or positive rep?

Riva 06-10-2007 02:17 AM
Oh ok I get it now. Thanks for the help!

Edit: Is there a way to check if someone gave negative rep or positive rep?
Sure is, just click on the reputation icon on your own post. It'll say something like "The reputation on this post is extremely positive".
EDIT: Yeah, Jom's just faster.
That's what all the ladies say.

Apocalypticon 06-11-2007 09:38 PM

who do I need to talk to if I want a name change

Kage 06-11-2007 09:41 PM

I think it would be cool if I was the namesake of the Community thread for a while.

Nepenthe 06-11-2007 09:53 PM

I think it would be cool if Kage was permabanned.

Stormrider 06-11-2007 09:58 PM
who do I need to talk to if I want a name change
Apocalypticon 06-11-2007 10:04 PM

I'm not 100% sure yet, I just think mine is really stupid. Any suggestions?
