Freddy is no doubt talented but he is no where near my favourite.

...me too. My favourite singer might have to be Jim Morrison, but I'm really not sure. and did you guys read the Jim Morrison thread? I never realized Mr. Mojo Risin is an anagram for Jim Morrison. That's pretty clever. |
I didn't know that
That is clever. |
I need to buy a Doors album. Any suggestions?
|
The only "real" albums I've heard beside my greatest hits are "The Doors" and "Strange Days", and I love both of them. I'd probably start with the self titled.
But now that I think about it, I think any of there albums would be great, because they only have like 2 songs I don't like. |

LA Woman |
I have Morrison hotel and then a double disk thing ;)
I need more doors. Especially because I claim them as one of my favorite bands. |
I am, sorry to say, Door-less. I'll probably get the s/t soon.

/is Door-less :( I've been planning on getting LA Woman for a long time, but I haven't fo some reason. |
We don't need* the Doors.
*desperately need |
Morrison Hotel is on one of my holiday lists, so I should be getting it. I did get some money today, and tomorrow is the biggest shopping day of the year. Hmm...

Morrison Hotel, LA Woman, and Soft Parade are on my Christmas list. With my luck I won't get any :( |

I never really liked the Doors that much, so I dont want to get to carried away. That's why I'm only looking for Morrison Hotel right now. |
Wohoo! Tomorrow is my 18th b-day, and today I got my presents. I got Who's Next and MAgical Mystery Tour. Naked Eye is my new favorite Who song :thumb:
|
So, I'm watching "Hell Freezes Over" by The Eagles...
They're pretty good considering they haven't played together for 14 years. We haven't discussed the Eagles in a while have we? |

That's one of the better songs off Who's Next. |
on the matter of cream's improvisational prowess, one of my friends has a live album from them, and it's absolutely phenomenal. i'd recommend it to everyone.
also, has anyone heard the version of "mountain jam" from the atlanta pop festival, where they played with johnny winter? not as good as the fillmore version, but pretty ****ed cool regardless. |

I could'nt see them when they came =( I had absolutely no cash and it was probably thier final tour before one of them suffered a heart attack. My freind did however call me from the front row seats and let me listen to Hotel California. *sigh* DVG. |
I was gonna make a thread to discuss the Eagles, great band

My Dad runs a Ford Car dealership in this small town called Wilmington in Illinois of course. And because he runs that Ford dealership, he gets to go to all of the big Ford meetings. The meetings are usually held in Las Vegas. Each of the meetings are 100% top secret of course, so only my mother can come with him (not my brother and I). And each meeting the owner of Ford (Who my Dad knows) gets a couple of big acts to perform for his workers. Last time he got Jerry Seinfield and The Eagles. My parents got front row center seats. They got a bunch of free Eagles crap. They sad it was insane, andsaid I would have liked it :(
To summarize - Badmoon's dad's work, and eagles. |
my favourite doors album is Strange Days. it truly captures the end of the happy go lucky pscychadelic era...the vietnam war is raging, the manson murders, the stabbings at the Stones concert is nearing (truly the end of the psychadelic era). People are realizing the world isn't as wonderful as they thought, and the doors capture that moment perfectly. its really a depressing album, but it is very well written and it could almost be considered a concept album, although the concepts are very subtle.
their first album was more just a collection of songs that they were playing in clubs at the time, they didn't relate to eachother in anyway. They were great songs, but they were basically just a bunch of singles put together. Strange Days was written more as an album, and less as a collection of songs. L.A. Woman also has some great songs if you like the more R&B side of the Doors, it is less pschadelic, but that doesn't make it worse. It still has some of their best songs. Jim Morrison was trying to be more of a singer, and less as a poet most people say, and you can really tell. |
i think they should just take away the "classic" in front of classic rock-its the only good stuff out there. when the new bands stop being such pretty boys and corporate sell-outs then we'll have to worry about the style of our music....
