I heard someone call them thrash metal. Is this acceptable,or even close?

Bazarov 07-06-2005 12:37 AM
Math metal is not a genre.

They are along the lines of extreme progressive/technical metal.
I thought it was just another term for tech metal. Like Sleep Terror. Man those guys are crazy.

EDIT- Check these guys out. They're instrumental extreme tech metal.

Yea, but it is a quite dumb term for it.

Just call it tech. progressive metal, since they are kinda hard to classify.

Wow, jake no longer has a Raphael avatar, wierd...

unfortunately the chatting will not occur for me yet as there is no AIM at school, I'm going home before lunch though

****, there are so many places in Europe I have to visit once I'm 18. Lord Abortion, I just saw some pictures of some abandoned castle in Northumberland next to the beach, it was awesome.

I love living here, so much atmosphere, perfect for metal song inspiration.

Also, a pretty random question, but where do most of you buy your DVD's? I mean, I'll go to Best Buy or Tower Records to buy some, but Blockbuster is dedicated to movies, and ironically, the selection sucks.
I generally go to HMV and Virgin. Since I buy music more than film though, I usually only buy DVDs when they're on sale (which is fortunately quite often). Other than that, I also use Amazon, and eBay if it's particularly hard to find.

Lord Abortion 07-06-2005 08:16 AM

I'm ripping music and playing final fantasy 7... good times

I also took the oppertunity of my wireless connection not being crappy for once to download a huge amount of stuff from the ysi thread.

anyone want somewhere far beyond by Blind guardian (full album)?
it took me ages to upload...

I don't want to waste the link but if 'tender or Jelle don't want me to I won't post it

Stoic 07-06-2005 08:20 AM

*sigh*

I feel guilty downloading underground artists' albums (unless I cant find them anywhere) and at the same time I feel guilty spending so much money on CDs. How do you guys feel about it? :(

EDIT
it took me ages to upload...
yeah and I have uploaded 4 Slough Feg songs in the power thread for sensitiveorgan00 but I doubt if he got them so whoever wants to check out a traditional/power/folk/doom metal band just go there.

I love buying CDs (etc), so I don't think I've ever felt guilty spending so much money on CDs, as you say. I don't particularly enjoy having no money afterwards of course, but I've never felt bad about it.

Good morning folks, just woke up.

I'm super hungry but too lazy to get my ass out of the chair and get food.

Does anyone else have this problem?

and what did you have for breakfast?

Hello!
Nope.
I had an onion bagel with cream cheese for breakfast. And some orange tea. I hate being sick; I had to miss my guitar lesson.

Drugstep 07-06-2005 09:50 AM

I just woke up, and managed to actually get out of bed and walk 1.3 miles after just waking up. Right now I'm drinking water and I don't intend to have breakfast. 10:50 AM right now.
No, I haven't in weeks and I'd like to start again.
That's good. I like walking, but it's pretty boring when there is no one to talk to and walk around with you. Plus, walking around my neighborhood sucks, and walking down by the road is full of honks.

Stoic 07-06-2005 09:58 AM

I dont usually eat breakfast and I hate walking when it's hot. I'm also used to walking fast when I'm alone and when I get home I'm all sweat and thirsty.

Drugstep 07-06-2005 09:58 AM

I only walked with a friend once, and ultimately we offended some 37 year old, and he threatened to kick our asses. Good times. I usually listen to music while I walk to keep from getting so bored. It's easier walking on the track than on a tredmill, because on a treadmill I can just say fuck it and get off, whereas I'm motivated to go around to 2 mile track atleast twice. I can do it walking around my neighborhood by just walking far out and I can't stop because I have to get back to my house. Yay.

Taste_My_Scythe 07-06-2005 10:00 AM
I dont usually eat breakfast and I hate walking when it's hot. I'm also used to walking fast when I'm alone and when I get home I'm all sweat and thirsty.
True. It's way too hot to walk. Summer sucks big time. No one wants to go outside because it's too hot, so you sit inside. Then people get on your case because they say you spend too much time inside, and you need to get some "fresh air". Personally, I'll choose AC over humidity anyday.

Stoic 07-06-2005 10:02 AM
I only walked with a friend once, and ultimately we offended some 37 year old, and he threatened to kick our asses.
haha, did the same thing the other day. I was in a bad mood and his attitude just pissed me off. I said "Why dont you just die wanker?" and walked away. I feel guilty though, it's like not me offending random people on the street.
Then people get on your case because they say you spend too much time inside, and you need to get some "fresh air". Personally, I'll choose AC over humidity anyday.
Hell yeah! And since there's not much to do at home I just sit in front of my PC all day and the others think it's not normal :p

NJMetalMeister 07-06-2005 10:03 AM

Just move to frankfurt germany, its a nice balmy 75 degrees today, nice overcast.

The last couple weeks were hellishly hot, but this is more in line with what the weather was like when i arrived here last august. Now if the germans only put screens on their windows to keep the damn bugs out id be set.

Same here!! First my parents said that in August, we can do whatever the hell we want to do as long we keep up with cleaning the house and crap. So I automatically think "MX board! All day!" and I mentioned that, and "oh, no computer all the time." Whatever. I'll still be on more often than I am now. :thumb: Maybe we can have more AIM parties like last night. :D

Okay, urge to eat overriding urge to post. Does anyone else eat Spam (the food, not the posts) for breakfast? I was raised on it, so I think it's pretty good.

Drugstep 07-06-2005 10:12 AM
Well, today was cool. Me and my buddy Mason went to see Batman Begins, which was an okay movie, then hung out in the world's most boring mall. Then we went back to my house and walked around the nieghborhood. About a block from my house some guy ran by, his **** bouncing, and I whispered to Mason something about the ****. The guy ran about a block more, then turned around and ran up to us.

Guy: Which of you likes talking the ****?
Me: Uh, I don't know.
Guy: Well I came over to ask who was talking ****.
Mason: What did we say?
Guy: I don't care if you're kids, I'll kick both your asses right here and I'm 37.
Mason: What did we say?

The guy ran off.
true. I just wish I had friends that are into metal. I could go to a metal bar or live show or something. For now me and my non metalhead friend are just walking around all the afternoon a few times a week and chat.

Ever eat Spam and Eggs from Hawaii?

Good stuff, that is.

On the subject of what it's made of - I don't know, but my first guess is leftover pig. It's the same thing as hot dogs except saltier.

I'm not sure what a spam is, as soon I find my dictionary I'll tell you. I rarely eat breakfast but I wouldnt say no to a cold pizza left from the previous night :D
Teh Unabridged event.
The guy was stupid.
Yeah, same here. That's why I like the board.
and this is why I like the internet. You can talk with people what share the same interests with you. The others just dont get it and think the internet makes you isolated.

EDIT
tropical storm smashing my window with rain last night
jeez, rain smashing window?! Does this happen often there? What did you do?
