awww daaang. It's weird that I know these guys, and it sucks that everyone (Pitchfork) hates Aaron's voice. Are you listening to their new album?

and I'm about to watch The Wire and then go see Man Man play live. It's going to be a great evening.
p.s. Did you see Man Man in Champaign? I was planning on going with some friends, but I ended up staying home.

Anxious 09-25-2006 12:09 PM

The Fiery Furnaces

These guys deserve all the hype.

Doctor D. 09-25-2006 12:22 PM

Sooo much of The Residents. I downloaded a large collection of albums and I can't get enough of them. Man, this rekindles my already fiery passion for those eyeball headed strangers.

I think 154 by Wire is FINALLY starting to grab me. It's been a longtime coming.

Happymeal 09-25-2006 02:40 PM

Wires on Fire - s/t

At last I found this. It's tamer than the EP in some respects, but there's some really memorable songs here. Kind of what The Bronx did on their new one. I miss the mean riffs though.

Broken Arrow 09-25-2006 03:40 PM

I'm digging the new Yo La Tengo album as of late.

Nope, I'm at school - so I'm in Des Moines. They played the Vaudeville Mews here - only about 25-30 people attended the show.

yeah I'm checking out the link just now.

OK Dimez, critique:

Class of '05:
I have to say I really liked this song a LOT. The intro is cool, in a sloppy Tom Waits-y kind of way. The chorus is killer, catchy-as-**** and with great vocals which remind me of Defiance Ohio. I'm not suckin' it to ya, I really love this song.

Book Of All:
Cool song as well, great vocals again and nice noodly guitar line and jazzy drumbeat. Almost as good as the first song.

Firecracker:
Not much I can say, it's a fun pop punk song.

and the last one isn't really a song so...

All in all, you guys have lots of potential. I like your sound a lot, it's like a great mix of things I like. Special props to the vocalists. I'd not have done this, but the first song was so good I couldn't not. Keep it up man.

Incidentally, what is your role in this band?

Zebra 09-25-2006 08:35 PM

I've been listening to the Flaming Lips all night. Listening to all of their 80's, 90's and current stuff on shuffle is really cool.

When do you have time to do this, you post on here your whole life.

Its good.

Eliminator 09-25-2006 09:31 PM

I've been listening to a lot of Fiery Furnaces and Björk lately.

Eliminator 09-25-2006 09:33 PM

I tried listening to those songs, but apparently MySpace music hates me and doesn't want me to listen to music there.

Little Man being Erased 09-25-2006 09:36 PM

I listened to that first song. It was alright. Sounded a bit too much like ska in places.

Dog 09-25-2006 09:56 PM

Swans - Filth
Calvin Johnson - Before The Dream Faded
many thanks for the critiques, these are very nice things to hear. I'm the drummer.
Pretty awesome. I clicked to listen as it was mentioned in a punk forum thread, and I didn't realize it was your band. Good stuff.

This week I intend to listen to almost exclusively music from the czech republic.

Great tunes, they're awesomely catchy. I love the vocals. gg man.

Bukowski 09-26-2006 10:04 AM

Magnetic Fields (loving them a lot just now)
Talk Talk - Laughing Stock

JonM 09-26-2006 11:39 AM

I'm diggin all the Dead Prez records, but they're not diggin me very much. I wonder why this phenomenon of white people getting way into explicitly anti-white music occurs? I'm totally feelin all these songs, and half of them are about killing white people.

Zmev 09-26-2006 03:22 PM
Magnetic Fields (loving them a lot just now)
dude you better have 69 love songs.

Chemical Brothers - Dig Your Own Hole

I didn't realize how good "Where Do I Begin" is until today

Little Man being Erased 09-26-2006 03:24 PM

Tom Petty - Damn the Torpedoes

Animal Collective - Sung Tongs

I had an idea in my head of what Animal Collective would sound like, and I was a long way off. I don't know if I like it though. It seemed a bit fruity.

Zebra 09-26-2006 06:44 PM

Sonic Youth - Sister

This is much better then Daydream Nation.

pixiesfanyo 09-26-2006 07:00 PM

Six Organs of Admittance

The Jungler 09-26-2006 07:03 PM

UNKLE - Never, Never, Land and Psyence Fiction

I can't tell which one I like better, but they're both fantastic.

I think there's some deal with my internet access here that recognizes peer-to-peer transferring, and slows them. I started this download (of the blanky of sound) at about 60k/s, and now it's down to about 2k/s.

Little Man being Erased 09-26-2006 11:15 PM

That's messed up, man. My connection at home just goes at 2k/s all the time.

Tangy zizzle 09-26-2006 11:16 PM

Otis Rush - An Introduction to Otis Rush

pixiesfanyo 09-26-2006 11:16 PM

Modest Mouse - The Lonesome Crowded West

This album is so good.

Tangy zizzle 09-26-2006 11:23 PM

Oh and The Drones - The Millers Daughters

I'd go so far as saying they're my all time favourite. With stuff like I Believe (holy crap, what a song, jesus), Someone on Your Bond, Mean Streak, Slammin on The Breaks and Bird In A Church all on one disc...and another 3 albums all full of pure gold. Shit man.

Little Man being Erased 09-26-2006 11:30 PM

Big call man. I might pick up their new one when I hit the big smoke in a bit over a week.
