magicbus 01-03-2005 04:45 PM

I've never liked Rush. I've never heard them either, though.

RockAndRoll 01-03-2005 04:47 PM
That's right it's me!
close, but not quite.

RockAndRoll 01-03-2005 04:48 PM
I've never liked Rush. I've never heard them either, though.
How can you say you don't lke them if you've never heard them?

magicbus 01-03-2005 05:19 PM
How can you say you don't lke them if you've never heard them?
I just never had the urge to listen to their music. Probably based on this little shit in my Criminal Law class who likes them and Motley Crue, but calls John Lennon and Jim Morrison overrated. I figured if he said things like that, Rush probably sucked. Now I could be wrong, I didn't like Neil Young until I listened to it, but I don't really feel like trying Rush. I also respect Neil Pert's skills though.

shortass 01-03-2005 05:20 PM
Now I could be wrong
You are wrong

Broken Arrow 01-03-2005 06:33 PM
You should check them out...I didn't think I'd like them before I heard them, but I got sent some songs by them, and although they're not one of my favourite bands, I listen to them quite a lot. Obviously Neil Peart's incredible, but, once you get used to the vocals, you really start appreciating all of the music a lot more.
Why Med57?

Anyways yeah.

BludgeonySteve 01-03-2005 06:38 PM
I really like them...Mark Knopfler's a good guitarist, and plays with a whole load of feel and tone as well. If you've got the Live Aid DVD (like me :D), then check out their performance on it. They do Money For Nothing with Sting, and they go very well together.
I have that DVD. Mark looked badass with that bandana. He also sounded badass. ;)

Rush is a good band that I need to get into more ;).

Hehe, so it's not the Grateful Dead with Jerry? That makes sense, methinks.

The more guitarists, the less mistakes that will be made. I don't think anyone needs more than 3 though.

/all caught up

jpj 01-03-2005 06:39 PM

I have the Live Aid DVD too, but I still haven't watched discs 3 and 4. Dire Straits was pretty cool on it, so was Queen.

shortass 01-03-2005 06:41 PM

My step dad got that for christmas so I will borrow it tomorrow. Is its any good?

Jam2Me 01-03-2005 06:42 PM

I didn't have time to learn all the strings on a guitar so I went with bass, and I heard it is easier to use if you're a vocalist

And I don't like Neil Young, you guys are crazy about him...I need some songs that will really get me into him. And Rush, I'm not into them and I own 2112 and didn't like it :\ not my style.

BludgeonySteve 01-03-2005 06:42 PM

Does anyone have Eric Clapton's new album "Me And mr. Johnson. It's like a tribute to Robert Johnson who obviously influenced Eric a lot.

It's quite good, methinks.

I'm not crazt about him. I consider myself a modest Neil Young fan, but Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere is one kickass album.

I like Neil Young...but he's not my favorite. I have Harvest, Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere, and After the Gold Rush on vinyl (all of which are my dad's), but I've only listened to Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere.

I have it, but I haven't listened to it too much yet. I should. I like what I've heard. And, Robert Johnson was a classic blues player.

jpj 01-03-2005 07:21 PM
Yes it is. He's on Live Aid isn't he?
Yea, but that's one of the ones I haven't watched yet. I'm sure it was a good performance.

I heard everyone's wearing flashy suits on stage then Neil walks out in like a plaid jacket and cowboy hat.

frkn'loud 01-03-2005 07:36 PM

the band i was first in to was Pink Floyd then i got into led zep and the who and then the beatles. did it happen like this to anyone else?
the band i was first in to was Pink Floyd then i got into led zep and the who and then the beatles. did it happen like this to anyone else?
Naw for me it was AC/DC-Zeppelin-Neil-Floyd-Beatles-etc.

Woodstock 01-03-2005 07:49 PM

I dont like Rush at all, they're part of my trifector of evil. Rush, Foreigner and Styx.

Neil Peart gets my respect, but Geddy Lee sounds like a horny ghost.

thickasabrick 01-03-2005 08:06 PM

usually for me, i either love a band/artist and am crazy about them..or i hate them.

rush is probably one of the few bands that are in between for me.

does anyone else listen to music in the shower? today i listened to Down By The River (from Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere). Usually I listen to Hendrix in the shower. It makes for some great naked air guitar.

RockAndRoll 01-03-2005 08:09 PM

indeed, very good. Haven't listened to it in a while though.

Say are there any vocalists in here?

thickasabrick 01-03-2005 08:17 PM
I sing in a choir, and go in the school musicals, probably gonna go in vocal jazz this year. But I'm not any sort of Freddy Mercury type singer, more like Bob Dylan actually. I like to play my acoustic guitar and sing, not so much my electric.

smoke a bowl dig a hole 01-03-2005 08:18 PM
