You're Australian yes? Where would you be seeing them? I am intrigued.
Yeah but I am living in France for this year. Seeing them in Germany. Bolt Thrower are great despite sounded all the same. One of those few bands where you know exactly what you are going to get and thats okay. They have a great formula and they have kept it, nothing bad about that. They are a great band to binge on. |
their later stuff like honour valour pride is pretty weak
Ahh k. Was hoping for some whispers of an Aussie tour. I imagine they'd be killer live.
+1 to your second statement as well. |
Yeah, I was a fool to buy so many - they're all the same but maybe if you're a big fan of that style and you're sick of the albums you've got it's worth buying more.
Well the first two are different from the rest. Maybe perhaps the first 3 albums are worthwhile.
Mehhhh, I really like Realm of Chaos, War Master, The IVth Crusade, For Victory and Those Once Loyal...they're all great...
Also, I have no idea what forums you're talking about, but tbh this is probably the least "elite" one I know. And who cares - demonstration: I still post here.
I should look harder then, all other forums I've looked at have been epic failure at first glance. |
I actually haven't heard anything past Realm of Chaos. I've been meaning to check out War Master, but just haven't got around to it.
Just get ...For Victory
their later stuff like honour valour pride is pretty weak
Yeah I have only heard one song off that one. Contact Wait Out Its not a bad track but something is different. It just doesn't sound as whole as their other tracks, the different vocalist doesn't help. The lyrics are fantastic though. After seeing the track live though on Youtube I was blown away, watch this, its simply awesome. http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=DEmoPCWqlkg |

War Master is good, but nothing beats Realm Of Chaos imo. |

I dig it. I'll have to get the two after Realm. Realm will probably still be my favorite though

I find War Master a little boring.
Why's that?
Bolt Thrower \m/
Those Once Loyal is my favorite.
...For Victory is my favorite, with Those Once Loyal and Realm of Chaos tied after that, then War Master and The IVth Crusade tied after that. Haven't heard the others and probably won't.
who are we talking about?
Bolt Thrower \m/

Whaaaaaaaaa? BRO.
im not being srs sry
You totally got me.
Its hard to read sarcasm.
Not too sure exactly in all honesty. Thats not too say I don't like it, its just much of it I find monotonomus. (I know thats not how you spell that) Afterlife, however does own.
Really, if I am going to put on BT, FV or FTOL just clicks more with me. Whats peoples opinions on Spawn of Possession. I simply adore Noctumblant. |
I like Spawn of Possession if I'm in the right mood for it. I might prefer Cabinet though, Noctambulant has that sort of sweeping style to it, the really orchestral feel in the guitars, and sometimes I'm not sure how I feel about that.
Spawn of Possession is ok, but they get tiresome pretty quickly.
I really like because of the massive "classical" (attention I use this term loosly, more Baroque and 20th Classical ala Prokofiev) influence. There really is, Jonas even said himself that when he wrote that album he didn't at all approach it in a Death Metal mindset. I don't listen to it in a Deathmetal mindset, I listen to it in a unique Noctumblant mindset which is always fresh and orignal to me which is probably the reason I like it.
If you don't know how you feel about it, maybe its just not for you. For me however, I get boners. Do you happen to like classical music of composers such as Stravinsky and Prokofiev? Modern composers like Turin also? If you do then maybe you mind is in a better position to enjoy it. (EDIT: I don't mean this at all in a prentious way, just for the me the tastes seem to link a little) I do find if you listen to Noctumblant with effort, you are rewarded. The dark and beutiful melodies some how passed off as Death Metal with ease and subtlty. The songs are obviously written with so much thought and effort and thus, you probably going to have to listen with to it with thought and effort. However now, over time with repeated listens I can sit back and just enjoy the rich experience as I already know it well enough without having to do the above. I know the "meat" of the album and I can just enjoy it with the occasional surpises coming out of the woodwork. Conversly, for me I don't find Cabinet all that great. I mean I love Hidden in Flesh and Dirty Priest but otherwise mainly the rest of the album is too noisy and brutal for me. (Messy, not in a good way) |
Swarm of the Formless is the only song that I really love on Cabinet. Most of the songs are kind of samey.
i heard Bolt Thrower was some good war metal.
