Dude, you listening to Toots and The Maytals or something?

an_original_name 04-13-2008 12:23 PM

^^^ you get any audio up yet?

T

Retarded Chipple 04-13-2008 12:24 PM

No.....

I'll get on it now....not that it'll be very interesting.

an_original_name 04-13-2008 12:27 PM

I have a teacher at college who says "even in the shittest, most boring, most anoying piece of music, there will still be at least 1 thing that you like, no matter how small". And you know what. He's right.

Retarded Chipple 04-13-2008 12:28 PM

Well...it's just me playing to groove 1 slow from Groove Essentials.

Recorded mid-March sometime.

As well as my playing being total shite, the sound quality aint great either.

Ok, the sound quality is so bad, I'm gonna sort it out then re-post.

*moans*

Retarded Chipple 04-13-2008 01:04 PM

Lmao...it really does!

Honest opinion though, just how bad is the playing?

Don't worry, I can take it. Don't feel bad about hurting the feelings of someone on the net. I'm just letters on a screen.

an_original_name 04-13-2008 01:10 PM

The playing seems pretty good to me. Obviously its by no means technical, but its a good solid groove.

T

Retarded Chipple 04-13-2008 01:19 PM

Really!?

Wow, cheers man.

I can't really get anything more technical atm cos it's too late to play.

Ooh, I have this but it's nothing special. Recorded way back in October (2007). Was some groove I came up with, thought it was cool, recorded it before I forgot it!

I'd literally only just come up with it when I recorded it...so the bass drum and timing is a little off cos I hadn't quite got it down.

fishbulb 04-13-2008 01:19 PM

I just had an idea.

The forum should make a song one track at a time. What i mean by that is that we all sign up for different pieces of percussion. I'd start with playing a simple piece on lets say the bell of my ride cymbal.

Something along the lines of that.

Then somebody would record a snare drum and add it on top of that. Once he's finished then the next person in line adds to it.

Make sense? Do you think that anybody would partake in such an activity?

Retarded Chipple 04-13-2008 01:20 PM

Thats an awesome idea man!!!!

trysthedrummer 04-13-2008 01:24 PM

One would need the right software on the computer and some means of recording it though. Is there enough people on here to do it?

fishbulb 04-13-2008 01:25 PM

I'll probably start it after AP tests (beginning of May) since i should focus my time to studying.

A fair amount of people have means of recording.

That sounds pretty good to me as well. a nice funky beat with alot of groove. What are you using to record?

Stop being so nice and give me your true opinion!

In the next couple of days I'll try get some more stuff up...

I'm using a built in PC mic and GarageBand as it is pretty much all I have.

an_original_name 04-13-2008 01:31 PM

It is my honest opinion. Fair enough the second groove was a tiny bit sloppy (mostly the kick), but like you said, you'd only just came up with it so thats excusable. I'd say its much more interesting than anything I've ever come up with.

and thats pretty damn good quality for a PC mic.

Well, thanks man :)

I know the kick is sloppy but is that because its ahead or behind? I can never quite tell - it sounds like its dragging to me but I'd like a second opinion.

I wouldn't say it's THAT creative tbh.

Yeah, that mic seems to give alright sound. It's just the one built in my Mac. I sometimes put a bit of reverb or something on it just so it doesn't sound 100% like a computer mic in a bedroom (which is what it is!)

trysthedrummer 04-13-2008 01:45 PM

Nice groove though! Wouldn't have thought it was just the mic from the mac. lol
