I'd really like to hear them.
I'd really like to hear them.
We'll see if we get to hear them I am curious to see what they sound like myself. |
Alot of what I will post up is merely stuff in the process of being made, it is REALLY cool stuff. I have to run and buy some stuff for the beach, I'll be back later.
|
Anyone heard of this guy named Criss Angel who levitates on the A&E channel? I've seen some of that crap, and it's weird. Almost... believable?
I've been gone for thirty pages. Nothing new? |
erm. There are strong indications there might be a realse on august 16th, posibly a dvd. Q magazine from Austrilia even has sort of an article about it but Blair aint said anything about it so its jsut rumors really
|
"[Tool's] new material sounds great....with twists like Lateralus but more immediate and punchy too, very dynamic"
|
Oi where did you get that quote from...tell before i kills ya!
|
It's from an anonymous source, but I think it's someone who knows Danny Carey. I don't really know to be honest, I just stumbled across it somewhere.
|
Where did you get it from, Kage?
|
You didn't need to actually hear their new material to know that that's what it's going to sound like. Danny Carey was quoted as saying, "it still has quirky tempo changes", i.e. little twists. And we already know it's heavier. So this could have come from anybody.

Hehe Jake takes over the interrogation. |
Are you under the impression that it may be their best work yet?
|
Yeah...details, please, I want to know who said that.
|
Are you under the impression that it may be their best work yet?
It would be one of the greatest accomplishments in musical history to make Lateralus, an album considered the best of our time if not the actual best, and then make something even better. Something does tell me however this album will be nothing short of amazing, though I'm trying not to be optimistic because no matter how good it is I'm going to have to listen to it multiple times to get into it. If I get my hopes up my first impression might be bad and I might dismiss it right away. |
Man, if it's not better than Lateralus, these last few torturing months of waiting should would be worthless.
Well, maybe not worthless, but still, a letdown nonetheless. |

Well, maybe not worthless, but still, a letdown nonetheless.
I'd say hoping it's better than Lateralus is keeping hopes way to high. All bands have their peak, and that was most likely Tool's. Doesn't mean they can't make phenomonal music still though. |
I'm slightly optimistic. Tool have not disappointed in the past, and I'm just excited to be a fan right now.
|
Lateralus was actually a dissappointment to me, at first... surprisingly enough. I thought that Aenima was perfection and then I heard Schism and was VERY dissapointed. Schism is actually one of my favorite songs now. Maybe the new Tool album will have that same effect.
I hope they don't do the 5 epic song thing, though. While I enjoy Frances the Mute at times, I can't listen to it for too long. I need some contrast with shorter, more melodic songs. |
I rate aenima higher than lateralus, because aenima progresses through the album.
You have your really rocky song like stinkfist eulogy and H. then it moves through to really pregressive epics like Push!t and third eye. But you hardly notice the change, it flows so well. Whereas lateralus seems to start heavy, then drift away. It then comes back and hits you with parabol/a and ticks before fading away with D/R/T If that makes any sense. I know it has been mentioned, but everyone should check out the following bands that sound kind of similair. Oceansize - manchester based prog. Their debut 'Effloresce' is quite frankly great. I hits you on first listen, but still retains replay value. Vocals are intersting and musicianship is great. The band make a very dreamy sound, without drifting into meaningless prog, they keep their songs as songs, unlike some bands take floyd for example... Cog - Australian based rock/prog. Their Just visiting EP's are available on their sit. http://www.cog.com.au (i think), and their album, released this year, titled 'the new normal' is hot stuff too. Cog are heavier than oceansize and more 'to the point' if you will. However they are slightly different from your normal listenings. Again vocals are top stuff, guitar work is pretty riff based and reminds me alot of jones' work. I will do uploads if required, though not tonight :) |
The thing that sucked about FtM was the fact that about 1/4 of it wasn't actually music, so I would sit there through the 70 minutes, and be bored out of my mind by the end because most of it wasn't even that stimulating. :-/
http://www.cog.com.au Fix'd the link. :) Cog is an amazing band. If you want to download any of their songs go to that site, then click on music, then scroll down to Just Visiting, that's where the mp3s lie. :-D I just review their album yesterday on Sputnik, too. |

Yeah, I know what you mean...yet somehow, I like it better than De-Loused....Why? I don't know! |
The Lateralus/Ænima debate will always be there, but everyone can agree they are both amazing albums, and will be hard for Tool to top either of them with the next album.
/start new statement After hearing what King Buzzo (I'm pretty sure it was him?) in No Quarter, I think it'd be neat to have him appear again. |
I just review their album yesterday on Sputnik, too.
Yeah iw as planning to do it. Luckily i didn't *shakes fist* Meh i'm calling dibs on Bjorks medulla, debut and vespertine i think. Plus i might do the Kyuss album i just got, 'welcome to sky valley', after it sinks in. FtM and DitC serve different purposes to me. DitC for a rocky feel, uptempo, that i will give my attention to. FtM for reading or sleeping or other stuff :naughty: |

Remember, noone has even confirmed that there is such a thing in existence. I'm correct on this, right? Or am I on drugs? |
Its about time Tool had a guest musician in again. There's a pretty high standard to live up to.
Personally, Mikel from Opeth on a vocal harmony would own. And there are loads of guitarists who would do a great guest apperance (a Morello/Jones one -off reunion, playing Noiseland Arcade stuff :) ) |

I would definately love to hear both of those collaborations. |

Pfft, go back further than those. Noiseland Arcade sounded terrible and great at the same time, even though, no audio |

If Mike and Maynard harmonize right and stuff, it could be brillant, as well as an effect fest from Tom and Adam... as long as theres no really flashy stuff from Tom... |
