So far today:

Broken Social Scene
The Decemberists
Iron & Wine

Glitterati 04-04-2006 05:15 PM

Elliott Smith - Roman Candle

You know, since I'm feeling cripplingly (i cant ****ing spell) depressed today, this is possibly the worst music for me to be listening to.

Perhaps after, I shall listen to The Verve - Urban Hymns. I've been listening to that more lately, The Drugs Don't Work is brilliant.

But what do I know about music, I listen to Coldplay!

Daniel! 04-04-2006 05:16 PM

The Banans - The First Ten Years
Operation: Cliff Clavin - Who Needs Electricity?
Operation: Cliff Clavin - Freedom Of Choice
Surf Nazis Must Die - Discography
Minutemen - The Punch Line

Elliott Smith always makes me feel good, even though it is such sad music.

Anyway, I heard Mondo Generator at work today, and it is so so good. It's the bassist from QOTSA's band.

asymm 04-04-2006 05:23 PM

REM - Document
REM - Out of Time
Red House Painters - Red House Painters I
and a little later -
J Dilla - Donuts

Despite hearing about them sooo many times from various people, I've never heard Mondo generator.

I've been diggin' The Beastie Boys this week.

Zebra 04-04-2006 06:09 PM

The Flaming Lips - At War with the Mystics

After the first two dreadful tracks the album is excellent.

The Great Decay 04-04-2006 06:42 PM

Currently: Cursive - Domestica

YDload 04-04-2006 07:36 PM

Group X - Schfifty Five was just acquired!

*goes on listening spree*

I never thought I'd say this, but GWAR is pretty neat. I guess it's because I can't understand the lyrics very well, but they're pretty musically proficient at least.

You're not missin' much. They're decent at best.
You're not missin' much. They're decent at best.
Yeah, I kinda guessed they wouldn't be anything special. I'll delay listening to them for another couple of years I think.

The lyrics are one of the things that attracts me to GWAR. Such an awesome band. Live they are amazing. Just amazing.

br3ad_man 04-05-2006 06:09 AM

I want to see those guys live.

Today I've just been digging:

I Heart Hiroshima - A Three Letter Word For Candy
Converge - Jane Doe, You Fail Me and Petitioning The Empty Sky
Xiu Xiu - Fabulous Muscles

I've listened to those repeatedly. My friend told me today that she likes Xiu Xiu and I thought that was pretty cool. I think I'll listen to some Thrice now.

ATM 04-05-2006 07:24 AM

I sw GWAR live

Kyle 04-05-2006 07:29 AM

Belle & Sebastian - The Life Pursuit

Also The Smiths, Descendents, Jack's Mannequin and The Aquabats.

EDIT: wow, don't know what's up with the first one, it looks fine right now.

Bukowski 04-05-2006 03:03 PM

I spent all day listening to the Slackers. I saw them last nite, you see.

Now i'm diggin the Pixies - Surfer Rosa, which i haven't listened to for AGES.

pixiesfanyo 04-05-2006 03:21 PM

Is it just me or is Aaliyah the person responsible for releasing the best R&B hits of the '90s?

BillCosby 04-05-2006 03:24 PM

only because shes dead

pixiesfanyo 04-05-2006 04:03 PM
only because shes dead
Are You That Somebody?
We Need A Resolution
I Miss You

She's the fucking shit, when it comes to hit songs.

The Great Decay 04-05-2006 05:48 PM

I've debated whether or not to bother watching ATL.

The Smiths - The Queen Is Dead
Xiu Xiu - Fabulous Muscles

This is the first time I've ever listened to an album by The Smiths in it's entirety.

Tangy zizzle 04-05-2006 06:21 PM

Primal Scream - Evil Heat
(International) Noise Conpiracy - Armed Love

Been digging those two today. Both good, not great. Also, played some Trans Am, man I wanna see 'em again. Pure beat-insanity.

Robert Crumb 04-05-2006 06:55 PM
Is it just me or is Aaliyah the person responsible for releasing the best R&B hits of the '90s?
Timbaland gave her some nice beats. They are indeed very catchy, enjoyable singles.

I listened to some David Bowie and Marvin Gaye today. That's really all.

Zebra 04-05-2006 07:34 PM

Cannibal Ox
Aesop Rock

bucket 04-05-2006 07:57 PM

Talkie Walkie and The Virgin Suicides by Air have been receiving many plays in the past two days. The middle to end chunk of TVS flows so well. Ghost Song and Venus are probably my two favorite songs by them at the moment.
