Meat Puppets- Meat Puppets II this would make a perfect highway driving album, night or day
I listened to it on the way to New Mexico. Fucking epic it was.

Adam Green - Gemstones

much dissimilar to his first 2 releases. "over the sunrise" is sweet

Little Man being Erased 09-19-2006 09:06 PM

Adam Green is rad. Friends of Mine is excellent fun.

br3ad_man 09-20-2006 01:37 AM

Laura - Radio Swan is Down

Good post-rock band from Melbourne.

Eliminator 09-20-2006 05:26 AM

Belle Époque - À la Dérive
Blackalicious - Blazing Arrow
Blonde Readhead - Misery is a Butterfly

b wtf

Happymeal 09-20-2006 07:36 AM

Amusement Parks on Fire - Out of the Angeles

Even better than their first one imo. This one's kinda more post-rock than shoegaze but it has the same charm as the debut. If you haven't heard them before, think Before the Dawn Heals Us M83 mixed with Swervedriver.

Zappa 09-20-2006 08:48 AM

One day soon I will listen to ABBA in the dorms without headphones.

ATM 09-20-2006 08:59 AM

You're probably right.

pixiesfanyo 09-20-2006 11:50 AM

Take out the dancing in that statement and you've got my opinion on the matter.

XD

Freshman year I used to thrash around to MIA in my dorm, it ain't no thing. Plus, your a long haired feller like me, it's not like anyone's expecting anything of you.

Rejd 09-20-2006 03:17 PM

Brian Eno - Apollo, Atmospheres & Soundtracks
Mocean Worker - Enter the Mowo!
Mike Oldfield - Tubular Bells

Little Man being Erased 09-20-2006 03:26 PM

De La Soul - 3 Feet High and Rising

Diggin' this a helluva lot more the second time through.

Kyle 09-20-2006 03:56 PM

Yeah, that album didn't hit me the first time through either. But it's a real grower, one of my favorite Hip hop albums now.

The Jungler 09-20-2006 04:15 PM

MF Doom - Operation Doomsday

I really forgot how good this CD was.

Little Man being Erased 09-20-2006 04:17 PM
Yeah, that album didn't hit me the first time through either. But it's a real grower, one of my favorite Hip hop albums now.
That's good to know, because I didn't really like it much at first.

ATM 09-20-2006 04:17 PM

Oh man, that's one of my favorite albums ever.

edit: regarding Operation Doomsday

Hmm I'm still diggin Samuel Jackson Five and Russian Circles.

Hmm I'm still diggin Samuel Jackson Five and Russian Circles.
I reviewed it a while ago and gave it a 4.5. I thought I fucked up the rating untill a little while ago when I started getting back into Doom. There are so many great songs on that CD. Even the skits are awesome.

Silversun Pickups - Carnavas

I was worried I had exhausted this album, but it's still great after a little break from it.

asymm 09-20-2006 08:39 PM

The Who - Who's Next
Alog - Duck-Rabbit

Broken Arrow 09-20-2006 08:45 PM

I get to see the top band in a week. Should be a good time, hopefully.

Eliminator 09-20-2006 09:06 PM

Jay-Z - Reasonable Doubt

I felt the same way about a week ago!. . . but I think I may have to wait a little longer before I listen to it again.

Right now I'm digging TV on the Radio, Explosions in the Sky, Phoenix and Professor Murder. Oh, and Muse.

Zmev 09-21-2006 12:02 AM

Dj Shadow - Endtroducing

Getting ready for both free shows tomorrow.

Zappa 09-21-2006 12:11 AM
Metallica - Master of Puppets

so yeah this is pretty average. There are only two awesome Metallica songs in their whole discography, and they are "Creeping Death" and "One".
"One" is really shitty.

"Master of Puppets" and "Battery" are brilliant.

Kyle 09-21-2006 04:28 AM

I never liked "One" either, it was just like a less good version of "Fade To Black". I'd say I prefer "Sanitarium" aswell, but the solo in that song is one of the worst ever.
Sad thing is, "One" is the best song on ...And Justice for All.
Well yeah, but that album is possibly Metallica's worst.

Bartender 09-21-2006 08:05 AM

Close to, at least.
Yeah, that album didn't hit me the first time through either. But it's a real grower, one of my favorite Hip hop albums now.
Was the other way around for me; I really liked it at first (and for a while), but now I barely listen to it. Just a select few tracks now and then.

I've listened/'m listening to to a bunch of stuff (mostly albums I bought over summer and have only had the chance to listen to now, but a couple downloaded to see what all the fuss is about) that might make it onto an 85-94 list, if I make one. Right now though, I'm listening to Cardiacs - Sing to God (1995) for the first time, and so far it's excellent. Double album though (kind of), so I don't have high hopes for it lasting to the end of the second disc.

That's very untrue. They're not among their best songs. Master of Puppest is a good album in my opinion.

Having begun reading Innocent When You Dream, I think I will go on another Tom Waits craze. I need more of his albums.

I heard about The Cardiacs before but the only song of theirs I heard was "Angleworm Angel" and it's really unnerving so I didn't really listen for more stuff.
Well yeah, but that album is possibly Metallica's worst.
omg no way

I remember playing that on repeat all day long. Every song is a little mini epic.
If you want to go worst, pick anything from Load onwards.

digging Camille, BRMC

Zappa 09-21-2006 11:46 AM

At least Load, Reload, and St. Anger suck gracefully. AJFA has this certain pretense.

BJ_maddog 09-21-2006 11:56 AM
pretense.
what.. explain
I heard about The Cardiacs before but the only song of theirs I heard was "Angleworm Angel" and it's really unnerving so I didn't really listen for more stuff.
Yeah, I think I know what you mean. They're quite odd. Though I don't think Angleworm Angel is one of their better songs (to be honest, it's halfway through the second Sing to God so I was kind of just waiting for the end by the time I heard it), they're pretty tiring to listen to anyway.

I thought I should check them out because one of their old guitarists played in a couple of my favourite bands (the Wildhearts and Silverginger 5), whose solo album I'd picked up at some point (an album of Zappa covers, disarmingly close to Cardiacs sound than most other stuff I've heard). I'm surprised at how much I like them so far (2 or 3 albums in), given the similarity of their sound to his solo thing.

But yes. Odd, they are.

Kyle 09-21-2006 12:49 PM

I liked Load and Re-load....they had some really good songs. Plus, they're free of some of the metal cliches I associate with their other albums.

Yo La Tengo - "The Story of Yo La Tengo"
I'm digging the whole album, but this song is just amazing. What a great closer.

I like the album plenty too, though it's definitely not one of their best. The first and last tracks ("Pass the Hatchet" and that one) destroy the rest of the album.

I'm listening to The Heads' Under the Stress of a Headlong Dive right now. Talk about psychadelic rawk.

Zmev 09-21-2006 01:42 PM

I prefer Pass the Hatchet to Story
