Any word on a new album or recording for it? There site says nothing bout it and it's past early January 2005. And has anyone seen SKOM? I liked it but I guess I'm biast since I like Metallica.

CreepingDeath~ 02-19-2005 11:59 PM

I think they're recording a new album, but I'm not sure.

Leper 02-20-2005 12:03 AM

Ya for whatever reason it seems to be quite the difficult task to get any kind of info on Metallica's current studio progressions.

What did everyone think of the meeting beetween Lars and Dave Mustaine in the Some Kind of Monster film?

I think Dave needs to move on.

Yea, he definetely needs to move on. I watched the movie about a week ago. I mean it's his own mistake he got kicked out of metallica, so he shouldn't really be mad at them. They didn't want to risk going down so they kicked him out. Did anyone watch that part where lars and james were arguing. LMAO. Lars said like you're acting like a d*ck and james replied with something and lars just shut up. funny part.

Dave lets Lars know that he's had to live for so long knowing what he did. Metallica basically let him rot, and dragged on and on. He spoke of people seeing him in the streets giving him some \m/ horns and yelling Metallica. It makes you think higher of him.

Thunder and lightning the gods take revenge
Senseless destruction
Victims of fury are cowardly now
Running for safety
Stabbing the harlot to pay for her sins
Leaving the virgin
Suicide running as if it were free
Ripping and tearing
you are probably my favorite poster here on MX, not becuase you gave me rep but because you make good productive posts in complete senteces, and you are not a post whore
heh flattered, but your pretty good poster yourself. :thumb: I just try to say things that are fair, imformative and based on something that contributes to my point or post.

I thought that Daves encounter with Lars in SKOM didn't leave either of them looking bad. Dave confessed to himself that it was his fault "I ****ed up... and I have to live forever knowing i'll be second." Either I'm missing a huge clip, but I was very impressed by the open-mindness of Dave and Lars. I've heard lots of things before watching that clip about how Dave acted very childish and such, but it seemed fine to me. Something I can relate to because in his shoes, Im sure I would have reacted like that.
One of the things that I thought was cool about SKOM was Jasons departure. It wasn't as simple as everyone thought. Poor guys was bullied by James for so long before he snapped. Jason is one of my favorite members of any band (I say "any" band because saying "last person out of metallica" means I see him as the worst one in the band and therefore as a person in general. But in comparison to every other band, I see all members of Metallica at top 6 (no rob yet, i don't know him) so it could be misleading to people and make them think I hate Jason)(that was a long backet). How many people here prefered Jason to Rob?

*Quietly raises hand. I thought Jason had the best performance out of all (save maybe James) and could pump anyone up. Sure he used picks and he wasn't the greatest bass shredder, but I loved his solo's in Live ****. And just his all around presence and rythmic playing in the background always made Metallica feel complete to me (misleading, from watching videos and performances Metallica felt complete to me. I only got into Metallica after Jason left). Rob doesn't seem to fit in all that well... He's too... different. There was Cliff who was just a god. Then there was Jason, the man who took on the responsibility and pressure of filling Cliff's shoes admist a choatic period in time for Metallica, headbanging all the way. And then theres Rob whos the only man I've seen in pony-tail (volunatarily) and walks on stage likes hes trying to fart or take a turd...

You?

willis2441 02-20-2005 03:07 AM

guilty as charged,
but **** it aint right

hammet_ownz 02-20-2005 04:04 AM

**** dude you know your shiite

i watched a craappy metallica doco called dark souls or something and it showed a bit on how jason was tormented in the early stages of his involvement and how he was treated like craap by the fans after cliff died. i think jason is a top bloke, down to earth and genuinely a funny guy, and can be serious and get his @ss into gear when he needed to

robs a good bassist, but cqant compare to either jason or cliff. i know im gunna ge -repped for this, but him in there with the ponytail and the shorts and craap makes it look like he;s just come out of some california skate band

craaps me off

ah well at least he can play the riffs in the background at concerts so tallica keep rockin out live

peace

Kyle 02-20-2005 05:30 AM

yeah the other metallica players used to tkae the piss out of jason on stage! i never liked jason but i consider that really unfair.
Jason may have completed the band but i dont think he brings aything extra to the band like rob and cliff did. Considering Bob Rock wrote most of the bass in st Anger i think in the next record we will see rob at his best.

Back on the Topic of Mustaine.

I agree Mustaine should just get over it.
But what Metallica did to him (As in wake him up, drive him to a bus stop, he's quite high at the time :p, give him a bus ticket and say **** off) is pretty tight.

On another note, I urge anyone who's a fan of Metallica to give Megadeth a listen :thumb:
Great band, Metallica are and always will be my favourite band, but Megadeth are great.

Ok heres what I think

I don't blame him at all. He was the guitarist of the soon-to-be greatest metal band in the world. He got kicked out. Now he will always be the number two.

Would Metallica still have been the greatest metal band ever with Dave? No one will ever know. What we all know is that Kirk replaced Dave in what is now the greatest metal band ever (not sayin IMO, it's more than just my opinion).

Considering Metallica has sold 90,000,000+ albums, and Megadeth has only sold 15,000,000+ albums, how do you think Dave feels walking through a world of Metallica fans making fun of him for being kicked out?

Yes it has been 20 years since he was kicked out, but he's always going to be number two.

I'd agree with that. In fact, given all that happened to him back then, I'd say it's admirable he kept going at all and moreover, produced work of as high a calibre.

I have great respect for Dave. Even more so since I saw Megadeth live - he struck me as a really amiable guy.

I suspect he's changed a great deal in 20 years.

Dave recently left Megadeth, right?

I'd like to see Dave go on tour with Metallica, but I don't know if the crowd will appreciate it..

I can't rep you, but yeah.. I'm jealous, seeing Megadeth live would be great (To be honest, I want to see Megadeth live more so then Metallica Live).
