Gothic horror begets horror gothic?
I'm not kidding. That wasn't a typo. Redundant as it may sound, there is a subgenre of Gothic Horror called Horror Gothic.

Permanent Solution 06-21-2005 12:14 PM

I saw 30 Seconds to Mars last night

Great show. I had a lot of fun.

Would you like me to explain the difference between Horror Gothic and Terror Gothic? It can be done in two sentences.

If you bring a Running Wild album into that class, I will respect you forever.

Please do, I'm curious.

Taste_My_Scythe 06-21-2005 12:21 PM

I'm listening.

Steerpike 06-21-2005 12:23 PM

Horror Gothic is supposed to teach us to understand evil by giving us very explicit illustrations of pure evil (i.e. Dracula by Bram Stoker). Terror Gothic relies on using tension, suspense, and hiding information to make us fear evil (i.e. The Italian by Ann Radcliffe).

Taste_My_Scythe 06-21-2005 12:25 PM

Got it. Pretty simple once explained.

Well, that's pretty accurate, but not terribly specific. I mean, who doesn't like sex?

Same here, unfortunately. I'm anti-underaged sex though, probably just because I can't get it.

No I am not offering.

Faith No Doubt 06-21-2005 01:06 PM

One guy in our Film class told this joke to us twice in ten minutes:

"What's worse than finding a worm in your apple?"

"Gang rape"
So you sell those "As Seen On TV" products?
Hell no, these aren't sold in stores or on TV. They just DO what the Miracle Blade and Ginsu knives say they'll do, only it's no lie!

magicbus 06-21-2005 01:20 PM

Well that was fun. Turn's out taking a CS break makes you much better.
