beans 03-11-2008 06:41 PM

 if you say so, i do really like them, i have empires and i love it

adb 03-13-2008 02:44 AM

hmm, this band is some sweet tech deathcore imo:

http://www.myspace.com/deadweightuk

just wish the vocals were better (they sound kinda amateur) but everything else is pretty awesome.

Imdrunksowhat 03-13-2008 04:39 AM

With Blood Comes Cleansing is a ****ing stupid name

adb 03-13-2008 05:33 AM

nah its pretty bad a.s.s, unlike the band itself.

I like the name.
Haven't heard the band.
I like the name.

Yeah, I think they have one of the greatest band names. Haven't heard much yet, but what I have heard sounded pretty heavy.
I met one of the members at cornerstone '06 in IL. He handed me a demo, but I lost it.

Good story, right?

DJTeeLay 03-13-2008 01:07 PM

I know that they're not anything above average and that it's hard to distinguish between songs, but which Despised Icon album do you guys think is the best of the three?

i am the robots 03-13-2008 02:19 PM
With Blood Comes Cleansing is a ****ing stupid name
not really

DJTeeLay 03-13-2008 03:56 PM

I heard With Blood Comes Cleansing.
They're not bad.

So yeah, even though I'm assuming a "They all suck lawlz" I will bother to once more ask of all the Despised Icon albums, if you HAD to listen to one, which would you choose?
Of the three, which do you like the most even if you are "Meh" towards all of them.

encmetalhead 03-13-2008 03:58 PM

MIddle CD>Newest CD>first cd

The middle one has my fav song of theirs and the newest is pretty good and i really never got into the first CD alot

i am the robots 03-13-2008 04:06 PM

the healing process is incredibly boring, but its probably their best

consumed by your poison is just lol

encmetalhead 03-13-2008 04:16 PM

THP has "The Sunset Will Never Charm Us" though and that's my fav song

THP>TIOMM>CBYP(mad boring)

i am the robots 03-13-2008 04:18 PM

basically, if you want tuffguy influenced 'tech' death, you should probably just ignore despised icon and listen to animosity

Imdrunksowhat 03-13-2008 05:29 PM

Bloody Rivers of Death
Through Dying Comes Sanctity
Redemption Through Blood
Deathly Dying on a Burning River of Pain

jrowa001 03-14-2008 02:45 PM

any Salt the Wound fans?

Shred Danson 03-14-2008 04:39 PM

Salt the Wound are my boys!

Played in a band with their vocalist for a while...Just saw them in Chattanooga on Monday, it was awesome.

jrowa001 03-14-2008 04:58 PM

i checked them out because i herad they were influenced by All Shall Perish. good band, one of the few deathcore bands i like

Pete 03-14-2008 09:26 PM

"the ills of modern man" is one of my favourite albums ever, of all time. "the healing process" is also very good, but not as good. "consumed by your poison" lands on the third place for sure.

so, the newer the better, if you ask me.

DJTeeLay 03-14-2008 10:05 PM

The Healing Process takes the cake it my book.

A huge group of my friends think CBYP is the best on account of it being severely brutal.
I think it's probably the heaviest, but the vocals are comically bad and the breeing is overused to the highest extent.
I like their rerecordings of some of the songs off it, though.
A lot of Brees are removed and that random girl's vocals are replaced with the dude that was on drums before that did vocals on the two latest albums. Alexander or something.

Ills had potential.
"In the Arms of Peredition" was an awesome song, but I felt like that same song was played ten times.

The Healing Process sounds the most technical.

By the way, I just got a Despised Icon hat in the mail.
It's really cool.

Finally got their new album. Decent stuff, not too different from most deathcore though.

TheOpethAffinity 03-14-2008 11:03 PM

so i've heard that the vocalist for despised icon was a girl in their early albums...so is that actually a girl doing those deep-*** growls and pig growls in songs like "Compel To Copulate" and "Chef De Voute"?

i am the robots 03-15-2008 12:41 AM

nah, the dude who did the hardcore vocals on the old stuff's name was marie

DJTeeLay 03-15-2008 04:49 AM

That's a chick name.
But then again, they're from Canada.

BURN!!!XD

EDIT: Wait a minute...
Due to a new lineup change, 2004 marked a shift in the band's sound, replacing female vocalist Marie-Hélène Landry with the band's original drummer, Alexandre Erian, as the new vocalist.
i am the robots 03-15-2008 04:49 PM

oh ****, never mind then, well regardless, that bitch's vocals were pretty bad tbh, she REALLY overdid it with the pig squealing

beans 03-15-2008 04:58 PM

i havnt heard her, ill have to look for some of thier earlier stuff somewhere

i am the robots 03-15-2008 05:11 PM

i listened to a few songs off of consumed by your poison, and well, its pretty obvious that its a chick actually, she does a lot of the stuff light this city's chick does, but like, a lot sloppier, and she tries to do lows that she can't pull off a lot

beans 03-15-2008 05:17 PM

i havnt really heard a girl that can hit good lows

i am the robots 03-15-2008 05:38 PM

light this city's chick can, listen to the song fear of heights

also, this really hot indian girl i used to chill with could do sum ill growls

beans 03-15-2008 05:38 PM

ok, i haven't heard that song so ill take a listen

i am the robots 03-15-2008 05:41 PM

she shows a lot of potential in that song, she hits some really high notes, but they kinda lack support, but the lows are elite

beans 03-15-2008 06:12 PM

i agree some of the highs sound a bit too airy for my taste, but i was definitly suprised at the power of her lows, good song thanks for the reccomendation mappy :chug:

Hrimthursum 03-15-2008 10:44 PM

Over the past three weeks I have become very, very sick of this genre, tbh. So much that I don't even want to play it anymore in one of my bands.

If anyone can point me to a different kind of deathcore band that doesn't bore the hell out of me now, I'd greatly appreciate it.

botb 03-15-2008 11:07 PM
she shows a lot of potential in that song, she hits some really high notes, but they kinda lack support, but the lows are elite
what band? you have peaked my curiosity.

Hrimthursum 03-15-2008 11:09 PM

He was referring to Light This City. They're alright.

4yearpro? 03-15-2008 11:22 PM

vocals r too harsh 4 me

adb 03-15-2008 11:23 PM

female vocalists in metal = total turn off to me tbh (not sexist they just don't sound good imo)

Hrimthursum 03-15-2008 11:24 PM

Listen to better female fronted bands then.

adb 03-15-2008 11:24 PM

your post fails w/o suggestions.

Hrimthursum 03-15-2008 11:26 PM

It's not my duty to find stuff you will like for you.

Nor is it my duty to name drop to look cool.
