Well the drumming style he does doesn't require much footwork, it's all just thrash beats and blast beats.
I guess I'm used to drummers doing a lot more with their feet. do you consider them melo-death or metalcore? |
Definitely melodic death.
|
Definitely melodic death.
I was hoping you would say that, cause I was expecting someone to say kiddie mallcore even though they aren't remotely. |
They seem like Gothenburg metal sped up 3 times. they're alright.
|
They seem like Gothenburg metal sped up 3 times. they're alright.
Sounds about right to me. |
They seem like Gothenburg metal sped up 3 times.
Basically.
they're alright.
More like they pwn your face. Regardless, the point is that I saw them with TTEOTD and Laura kept on bending over and her ass is mighty attractive. |
Her growls are pretty good, her screaming did get a little annoying at the end of the first video, though. It's too bad I never got a decent look at her in EITHER video! are they trying to hide her for her protection or something?
|

I think she's pretty young, so probably. |

Nah, it's just the way the videos were shot. I'll find the one decent pic of her. It's the way she wears her hair too: http://www.thecoverzone.com/Indie/LightThisCity/index.htm You can't see her face at all here. |

hahaha.

I saw the new Norma Jean video on Headbanger's Ball last night, good song, but the video didn't do much for me.
And yes I do like Norma Jean. |
their 2nd album is alright, all their other stuff is pretty much trash imo.
|
I do enjoy their 2nd album a lot, it has really cool riffs.
The new album has much better songs and said riffs. The first album gets a little boring with the exception of a couple of songs. |
We Are The Romans is better.
|
We Are The Romans is better.
I still haven't gotten to listen to that, and I should considering it influenced a bunch of bands I like. |
Do it now.
|
Do it now.
I would but I don't have speakers on this computer, (at work). |
I still hold Norma Jean to be one of the worst bands I have ever heard before.
|
I like that they are different from most of what is being played out there IMO.
|
their most recent album just seems like a poor attempt at crossing post-hardcore and melodic death metal. Their first album was pretty much just generic metalcore, but their 2nd album was pretty cool in that it had some odd riffing that was very DEP-esque.

I see the post hardcore, but I dont really see the MDM. It seemed to me like they tried to write better songs instead of having a big riff extravaganza like on the prior record. |
if i remember correctly there were some harmonized leads and whatnot
|

I'll add that to my list of "Listen to again to see what that guy is talking about" :thumb: |
I still haven't gotten to listen to that, and I should considering it influenced a bunch of bands I like.
Album pwns. It is better than NJ, The Chariot, and all other bands like that, even tho I still like NJ and The Chariot. |
Agreed.
And BTW I have a hard time getting into Chimaira. They have like two or three catchy songs grand total but the rest is hard for me to get into, due to the nu-metal influence.
The S/T has very little nu-metal influence. It's a very metal record. So is much of The Impossibility of Reason. |
No, all Chimaira has done isn't good. Kevin Talley wasted his time.
|
Kevin Talley was the worst thing to happen to that record (and the band), what are you talking about? Herrick owns Talley.
|
Uhhh, Talley is amazing and shouldn't have wated his time on a mediocre Metalcore album?
|
Norma Jean and the Chariot both suck massive amounts of balls.
We Are The Romans is awesome. |
Yeah, that album is better than both of those bands, but I still like them.

ARG! |
No. Why do we need to have that link?
|
That article said Leeway is metalcore...
"MARK OF THE SQUEALER!!!" |
The part about the breakdowns was pretty amusing.
|
They also said Atreyu was an influential band to the genre.
NP: Botch- Transitions from Persona to Object |
That's my favorite Botch song.
|
Mine is still C. Tomas Howell as the "Soul Man".
|
atreyu's better than everybody gives them credit for
this flesh a tomb is a really nice song |
I can't even talk about Atreyu without feeling sick. They shame the entire genre.
