The Number of the Beast. Always a good start.

rik 08-28-2004 10:01 AM
whats a good iron maiden starter album? don't get angry if someone already asked this
I would go for either the number of the beast or edward the great (greatest hits album)

Led Guitar 08-28-2004 10:40 AM

POWERSLAVE. Is the best album by far, I love it.

The Mercenary 08-28-2004 01:18 PM

i learnt to play losfer words (big orra) today, i didnt realise how bloody simple it was!! :D

PoliticallyIncorrectMetalhead 08-28-2004 03:11 PM

^^^ I learned it the other day, but I am a drummer.

I think Powerslave is a great album to get into them.

-->>SoAdSlIpKnOtGoD<<-- 08-28-2004 03:16 PM

I started also with Powerslave

paco999 08-28-2004 08:23 PM

powerslave is good
just as number of the beast
and dance of death is really **** good

but my favorite is brave new world
i think the wicker man is awesome

Det_Nosnip 08-28-2004 08:51 PM

^^ One of Nicko's best performances, for sure. God, the man has the perfect metal groove.

PoliticallyIncorrectMetalhead 08-28-2004 09:36 PM

Yes he most certainly does. He's among one of my favororite drummers. I try to show him to drummers in my school and there all like"hes no travis barker". It makes me want to cry.

god dam i hate people like that

PoliticallyIncorrectMetalhead 08-28-2004 10:19 PM

Thats nothing, once someone directly came up to me and said Dave Lombardo sucks. Thats complete blasphemy. Anyway back on topic whatever happened to the people who left Iron Maiden(Paul Diano,Clive Burr ect..)

scream_for_me_brazil 08-29-2004 04:48 AM

Huh?

Who's they then?

ashman 08-29-2004 08:14 AM

Paul started up his own (called Paul Dianno) and did some covers of the first two albums and supposedly did an acoustic version of prowler.
I have no idea what happened to the other guys though, I think most of them joined different bands.
btw scream for me brazil Paul dianno was the vocalist on maidens first two albums (Iron maiden and killers), clive burr was the drummer for the first 3 albums (Iron maiden, Killers and NOTB).

Clive is fighting with MS (Multiple Sclerosis )? , i know maiden have a big charity for raising money for him and MS sufferers

PoliticallyIncorrectMetalhead 08-29-2004 12:06 PM

that sucks big time.

Det_Nosnip 08-29-2004 12:18 PM
Thats nothing, once someone directly came up to me and said Dave Lombardo sucks. Thats complete blasphemy. Anyway back on topic whatever happened to the people who left Iron Maiden(Paul Diano,Clive Burr ect..)
I was never a big fan of his until I heard his stuff with Testament. Lombardo's playing with Slayer was actually pretty dull most of the time, with a few obvious exceptions.

ashman 08-29-2004 01:25 PM

*coughs*Iron maiden thread

They rereleased run to the hills for the clive burr ms trust...and it got to number 4 in the uk. But what happened to dennis stratton? and Blaze? I haven't heard anything about him for a while...

Thunder Fingers 08-29-2004 01:50 PM

Blaze is in B L A Z E, an actually rather known and respected band between most Iron Maiden fans... and dennis stratton went to Lionheart...

The Mercenary 08-30-2004 10:11 AM

Ive just had a listen to 'the tenth dimension' and 'kill and destroy' ay Blaze, its quite good, if a little depressing. I wonder what would have happened had blaze had more input on the two maiden albums....

ashman 08-30-2004 10:31 AM

I think blaze had quite a lot of input, he helped write 5 of 11 tracks on X factor, but he only helped with 2 of the 8 tracks on VXI.

Nice link frail Cheers.

Ash

GurS 08-30-2004 03:04 PM

clive burr had a band called "clive burr's escape" before he developed ms...

i think straton actually now playes for praying mantis. di'anno's got loadsa bands, the biggest one probably being Paul Di'anno and the Killers.

The Mercenary 08-31-2004 08:40 AM

i just listened to 'the trooper', really closely, and between about 0:30 - 0:33 of the intro, is it just me or is there a kind of evil laugh in the background, or am i just crazy?

GurS 08-31-2004 09:33 AM

did you know that during the line "rolling sixes all the way" in 'back in the village', someone whispers "six six six"

YDload 08-31-2004 10:03 AM

Is it anything like the evil laugh right before the intro to "Powerslave?" Eddie!

The Mercenary 08-31-2004 12:11 PM
Is it anything like the evil laugh right before the intro to "Powerslave?" Eddie!
no, its really subtle, sounds almost like it shouldnt be there, but it should. hmmmm

*checks marbles* :smash:

are there any other maiden tracks with hidden stuff?

and what does nicko say at the end of thin line between love and hate? i think its him anyway....

ashman 08-31-2004 01:02 PM

^I thought it was steve...

Topic time: What's the deal with Iron Maiden and movies? I don't know if they've ever been in any, but they've definitely been mentioned.

Like in "Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure" when the king says "Put them in the iron maiden!" And Bill and Ted go "Sweet!" And at the end where Bill announces the Wyld Stallyns as opening for Maiden in their demo video.

Also, I think the stoner older brother in "Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead" had a Maiden poster.

The Mercenary 08-31-2004 02:15 PM

^ what other movies have they been mentioned in?

Bill and ted metioned loads of bands, megadeth, primus (it was tommy the cat in the battle of the bands uin the 2nd film wasnt it?), steve vai, kiss, extreme, kings x, slaughter, winger...

ashman 08-31-2004 02:21 PM

^oh and on the second bill and ted when they make that tape as a diversion, they say "maiden rule " at the end of the tape.

Bring your daughter to the slaughter was the theme for a horror film....I think it was nightmare on elm street 4....But i am not too sure.
