HELP !

hey guys i just want to ask a question those who got or ever watched S&M.
i personally watched only NEM & MOP from this concert. and one of my friends say that during some song tallica had third guitarist playing with them. is that true?

thank you
I've seen S&M and I never noticed a third guitarist. Its possible though due to the nature of the concert.

Tapdancing monkey what about One, Ride the Lightning, Dyers Eve, Sad but True, Nothing Else matters etc etc ? you missed so many good songs on there.

SlaveToTheGrind 03-28-2004 06:58 AM

that are songs you like. maybe he doesn't like them

Squirrel 03-28-2004 07:42 AM

K it's slowing down in here ~ so...

What's everyones opinion of Load and Reload; what's your fave songs / solos, what do you think of the guitar and drum work, Hetfields voice ? etc

I personaly like both; if im not in the mood for some thrashy stuff Load and Reload are perfect to chill to, the slow tempo on most songs is good for just sitting and playing along to. I like Hetfields voice - he shows more of a range and more emotion on these two albums, finally i think the drums sound a bit more technical and more well suited to the songs, there were some quality riffs on the albums and some neat little interplay between instruments ?

Opinions ?

grungeguitarist 03-28-2004 07:53 AM

I like Wasting My Hate, Fuel and The Memory Remains from those albums.

Squirrel 03-28-2004 08:01 AM

Wasting My Hate is excellent; i really love the riff in the verse. I've got a good version of that live :). Those the only songs you like off those albums ?

Now playing - Metallica = Mercyful Fate Medley

Symphony x 03-28-2004 09:01 AM

fuel is pretty good

SlaveToTheGrind 03-28-2004 09:20 AM

the memory remains is good too

Squirrel 03-28-2004 09:35 AM
the memory remains is good too
Naa na nan naaaa naaan na na na. Yeah cool song :thumb:, come on people, no one else here like Load and Reload ?

dougefresh 03-28-2004 10:27 AM

I don't like Load and Re-Load at all. I'm not just trying to to be hXc fan or anything, it just doesn't float my boat.

SlaveToTheGrind 03-28-2004 10:33 AM

and what floats your boat?

Squirrel 03-28-2004 12:44 PM
I don't like Load and Re-Load at all. I'm not just trying to to be hXc fan or anything, it just doesn't float my boat.
By hxc fan do you mean true fan, because if you were trying to a hardcore fan you'd like them all. But meh forgotten what im saying now...
and what floats your boat?
I presume, Kill ---> Black/ Justice

superpeer 03-28-2004 12:52 PM

Load and reload aren't bad.

superpeer 03-29-2004 09:17 AM

Bumpity boo.

Speedy Fingers 03-29-2004 09:52 AM

King Nothing is awesome, i think so anyways!!!

SlaveToTheGrind 03-29-2004 10:22 AM

the memory remains is better

Metallicat 03-29-2004 11:17 AM
King Nothing is awesome, i think so anyways!!!
Hell yea, I love that song.

Anyone ever notice what he says at the very end of the song??

"Off to never never land..." :thumb:

deadpuppy 03-29-2004 01:04 PM

my personal favourite Metallica song is "Until It Sleeps"...i like the beat to the song and the powerful rhythm...i also love "For Whom The Bell Tolls"

Speedy Fingers 03-29-2004 01:24 PM

Yeah, I noticed that, and they're not trying to get you to buy more of their CD's....they do the same ting in The Memory Remains:

"Ash to ash, dust to dust, fade to black......"

NoHero9 03-29-2004 01:51 PM

the fade to black thing in the memory remains was just a part of the song that fit, It has nothing to do with the previous song, "fade to black"

superpeer 03-29-2004 02:31 PM

Yeah, I noticed that as well.

Speedy Fingers 03-29-2004 04:58 PM

I'm sure it didn't but it is very coincidential!

UnknowN Doodl3 03-29-2004 06:38 PM

They also do that on St. Anger with damage inc.

"**** it all and ****in no regrets. Never appy endings on these dark sets." Damage inc
"**** it all and ****in no regrets. I hit the light on these dark sets... St.anger

soundcheckxx 03-29-2004 09:39 PM

they should start using some old guitar riffs too.

Facsimile 03-29-2004 11:32 PM
they should start using some old guitar riffs too.
Reusing lyrics is okay because they can be used in a different context, or be altered, as long as you don't take a whole verse or chorus and repeat it.
But in all honesty who wants to hear the same riffs used over and over?

superpeer 03-30-2004 09:21 AM

Yeah, Similar rifs would be lame.

Speedy Fingers 03-30-2004 09:45 AM

although the memory remains and fade to black riffs are kinda similar!

superpeer 03-30-2004 10:15 AM

Well the combination of notes isn't infinite.

Element86 03-30-2004 10:40 AM

Wouldn't that be scary if sometime in the far future, every single combination of notes had been used....oooh.

I just got Ride The Lightning on Saturday (my 7th Metallica album).....and why the hell did I only just buy this album now?! It is my new favourite Metallica CD, I like all the songs on it and even the lyrics are good (it just seems weird seeing good lyrics from Hetfield after St Anger ;) ).

I've been learning to play Battery on the bass (thanks to the new issue of Total Guitar) and have just about got it. Just some of those galloping riffs in the chorus catch me out.
Plus I'm learning Orion, Master Of Puppets, and the rest of Anesthesia alongside that.

What are everyone else's favourite Metallica songs to play (on any instrument)? I'm sure that's been asked before in this thread....but what do you expect from 94 pages!?

Joeeddstealschickens 03-30-2004 11:46 AM

most of them on guitar

and slither's riff sounds like enter sandman

soundcheckxx 03-30-2004 02:48 PM

it was a joke...relax

UnknowN Doodl3 03-30-2004 02:49 PM

That question been asked already, but who gives? Anyway, my favorite song to play on guitar is either creeping death, FFWF, Master of Puppets. I've got more but these are my favs to play.

SlaveToTheGrind 03-31-2004 08:54 AM

master of puppets and seek and destroy

superpeer 03-31-2004 09:57 AM

Creeping Death and For whom the bell tolls.

Metallicat 03-31-2004 11:29 AM

Master of Puppets, Creeping Death, Nothing Else Matters, Enter Sandman, Sad But True, No Remorse, Seek & Destroy, shortest straw, damage inc, bad seed, wasting my hate, one, aint my bitch, outlaw torn....woah, gettin a little carried away i guess..heh

ViperXX55 03-31-2004 03:59 PM

Master of Puppets = fun to play on guitar, its also the only song I can play all the way through perfectly, (except the 2nd solo which I am still trying to get)

What does everyone think of the song Unforgiven 2?
I think its awesome, lyrically and musically, but Ive seen lots of people saying they hate it.... hmm.... Why is this? It just seems like such a great song....

Element86 03-31-2004 04:25 PM

I like Unforgiven 2, but not as much as the original Unforgiven. I preferred the kind of sad sound of that, and Hetfield's vocals sound a lot more....I don't know, sincere maybe. They're both good songs, but the first one is way superior in my opinion.
