Which part?
|
I like 1 more than 2, just me though.
|
I much prefer AMLOR to TDB, to be honest. Especially Learning To Fly which is hugely underrated.
I love Learning To Fly. That music video is so 80's cheesy-artsy, it's great  I really need both AMLOR and TDB :( |
got tix to see waters in pittsburgh :]
awesome seats too! lol like all of the seats are sold out and its only the presale o.o but uhm im really getting into the really old 60's floyd... point me at the sky is definitely my favorite song of all time...anyone else like that stuff? |

Learning To Fly is great, but it's the only good one on the album '-_- |
What about Dogs of War? That's great vocals on Gilmour's part. And Sorrow is a great effort by all the band, I think.
|
I think AMLOR and TDB are both great albums.. But not in the Pink Floyd sense. They're not very Pink Floydish, but are good albums.
Look at Marooned on TDB. That is a very well put together song. |
I'm not sure if this has been posted in this thread or not, but I found a podcast of the full show during the Animals tour when Roger Waters spit on an audience member (the inspiration for The Wall)...
The file is 188 MB... http://media.libsyn.com/media/braindamage/BD50-Floydpodcast-02-03-06.mp3 |
Cool man, thanks. All I have from that show is Pigs.
NP: San Tropez |
Yeah, I love that show, besides the whole spitting thing it's still a great show, except for the rowdy crowd.
God I love Meddle so very very much. Even if I usually skip Seamus, it's still in my mind a perfect album. Fearless FTW |
Fearless is pretty much my favourite Pink Floyd song. It recently overtook Wish You Were Here and Learning To Fly.
|
Meddle is defititely my favorite Pink Floyd album. Pillow of Winds, Fearless, and San Tropez are absolutely amazing songs (and all completely different than any other Pink Floyd), and Echoes is the precursor to the music that would make the Floyd one of the most popular bands in the world...

Back of the line, bitch. I've been riding the Fearless train since before you were born  Is it true that they brought in a session drummer for TDB? I feel bad for Nick, he's not that bad :upset: |
I'm still annoyed that they replaced Rick with Michael Kamen for The Final Cut. The guy's a great conductor, but surely arranging the strings was enough. He didn't have to arrange the keyboards also.
|
but uhm im really getting into the really old 60's floyd...
point me at the sky is definitely my favorite song of all time...anyone else like that stuff?
Point Me To The Sky is allright. I have a complitation cd of a bunch of rare Pink Floyd songs with Syd and other early ones. My favorite rare Pink Floyd song would have to be either their cover of I'm A King Bee (if only because its the only Pink Floyd cover song I can think of) and Lucy Leave. My favorite early Pink Floyd live song would have to be Reaction In G. |

I think he's great too, he rarely let his talent show, but he is pretty good. No one seems to like him though... I'm trying to find Fictitious Sports, his solo album, it's supposedly really quirky and good. |

I feel the same way about Nick. I mean hes no Keith Moon but he is often called talentless. I think its because of two reasons. The first is his talents were showcased early on in live shows. People don't bother to pick up Ummagumma, Live in Pompii, or a bootleg so they don't know. The second reason is that because Pink Floyd is so popular when people hear one of their favorite drummers is Nick Mason they just think its some fan boy who is trying to think of a drummers name. What is ironic about the situation is if those people who say those who like Nick are fan boys took the time to get to know his drumming and his more underrated material they wouldn't be so quick to say he is talentless, when usually its the fan boys who know less about the underrated parts of a group. |

Obviously you should check out Rick Wright's solo efforts first. ;) |

Yeah I agree with this 110%, in my opinion he got the best sounds out of his drums ... his snare (Especially on the WYWH album) was beautiful. However, with Pink Floyd it would have been difficult to express himself as a great drummer because it just would not have suited the band. Although his drumming on Live In Pompeii rocks :thumb: |

It's not a solo album at all really. It's a Carla Bley album. Nick was producer of the album and played some drums on it and they named it after him to make it sell better (this failed however). That being said, I've come across it once but didn't buy it. The shopkeeper hadn't figured out the price yet, and I had to go. When I came back a few days later the album was gone together with the vinyl edition of TDB that he had laying around there... :( |
You let a vinyl version of Pink Floyd get away from you?
Just kidding. I'd have a look at buying that album, since I've enjoyed the solo stuff from all the other Pink Floyd members (Gilmour, Wright, Barrett and Waters). |
Pink Floyd is one of my favorite bands. Im thinking about getting "Wish you Were Here" soon, is it as good as people talk about it being?
|
YES
No exaggeration there whatsoever. If you want to drive a little ways to Rocky Mount I can lend it to you ;) It's seriously my favorite album of all time. |
It is seriously the best album by Pink Floyd. No questions asked. Well, at least tied with Obscured by Clouds.
|
WYWH is a great album. Have a Cigar is one of my favorite PF songs.
|
Love that funky intro.
|
Love that funky intro.
That and the lyrics are great. |
I think I like Shine On You Crazy Dimond part 2 more than part one. The instrumental work always blows me away (not that part one doesn't) and I don't know I think I like the lyrics better than part one (again not that the lyrics for part one are bad).
|
I've always said that too. Gilmour's solo from 2:30 to about 5:00 is just incredible.
|
Have A Cigar is my favorite off of WYWH and one of my favorite Floyd songs ever. The intro is awesome, the lyrics are great, Harper's voice works great with it, and the outro solo is definitely one of Gilmour's finest. I wrote the lyrical analysis of that song too:cool:.
|
Wish You Were Here rocks for it's lyrical depth, as well.
|
Have A Cigar was my favorite Pink Floyd song until I heard Echoes and Have A Cigar was pwned.
|
Wish You Were Here was my favourite until I heard Echoes and thought, you know, Fearless, Learning To Fly and The Trial are all a lot better as well.
|
Wish You Were Here was my favourite until I heard Echoes and thought, you know, Fearless, Learning To Fly and The Trial are all a lot better as well.
Hehe The Trial is cool, you know ... it is probably the only Floyd song which I find funny ... but of course it rocks too! Especially at the judge's speech section. I think Echoes is probably my favourite too, it's great to see them performing it on the Live At Pompeii DVD. |
I just love the way Roger enounciates all the Judge's words whilst maintaing that voice. It's great.
|
The Trial is so creepy, The Wall just wouldn't be the same without it.
I think SOYCD is my favorite part about WYWH, but why make that decision? It's the most complete and perfect album I can think of. |
Ah, but what's better than agonising over where to rank your favourite song against other songs which seem to be just as good.
|
All I know is that my favorite song ever is Echoes. Or SOYCD. Or myabe Fearless. Or San Tropez. Or WYWH. Or Dogs. Or Pigs. Or Sheep. :(
