Meh, we went over this a few pages back...i remember seeing something about the song being a Louie Armstrong song originally.
Hit Me Baby?!
Since you haven't been around here in God knows how long...it must've been a full day...how can you expect to keep up with anything?
Ouch. Dude, I wish I could spend more time on here, but I do have other stuff I'm doing. Yesterday, I spent most of the day recording in my room with John for the cover comp, then I had to work. The day before that was crazy; we were out all day.

I know. Life over here is crazy as hell, too. For example: yesterday I had to wake up soooo early in the morning for my guitar lesson. Then after that, I played video games the entire day! Can you believe it? I'm very repressed...

Oh yeah. At one point I went shopping and bought a couple CDs and the new Harry Potter book.

nahhh. but he's great.

Shattered_Future 07-17-2005 04:50 PM

My life is nuts...

Here's a basic schedule:

12:00 (noon) - wake up
12:15 - go on computer
4:00 - STILL on computer
5:00 (usually) - dinner
5:30 - back on computer
11:30 to 12:30 on weekdays - That 70s Show (good to watch when you're barely functioning...extremely funny then.)
1:00 - bed

Repeat. It's a beautiful thing...

He's definitely one of the best around today. I could name quite a few that could blow him away skill wise though.

You get togo to bed as early as 1:00? I usually put off playing guitar for so long that by the time I'm finished, it's about 2:00-3:00. At least I get to see Conan.

Now that my brother's home from NY I'm forced to use the computer while waiting for him to finish with the TV. My life is shit.

It's variated...i go to bed whenever...usually 1.

Crap, i completely FORGOT ABOUT CONAN!!! I haven't seen him in so long...gotta stay up tonight and watch him. He's a great man... :p

I play guitar while watching T.V. occasionally...bass too. And when I'm waiting for cds to burn...come to think of it, i play guitar a lot while i do other stuff. Good at multitasking. :)

I never got the new Harry Potter yet...no doubt my mom's friend will send it to me for a birthday present though. She works in a bookstore. :p

Check out Shawn Lane. He's my music idol basically. He had so much knowledge of all kinds of instruments. Also, he complete blows away all of the shredders out there speed wise. I can do an upload if you want. You may not like the type of music though.

Just finished headbanging to Bodom Beach Terror. Man, what a great song.

Shattered_Future 07-17-2005 05:00 PM

In all honesty (although this may be a bit biased), my dad could probably play circles around alot of existing guitar players...he's a great, great jazz guitarist.

Jazz guitarists are very sweet. :) I'll be there eventually, now that my teacher has actually started me on jazz. If I could just start seriously shredding I would be very content.

Isn't it though? I love that song. The first time I heard it was on Trashed in Helsinki. Because when I got the TLS EP, I didn't have HateCrew Deathroll, so I didn't know any of the songs they were playing in the background.

I know. :upset: Before we started, my teacher gave me a page full of commonly used jazz chords and told me to familiarize myself with it.

My fingers never recovered.

http://www.musicianalliance.net/Songs/08%20Get%20You%20Back.mp3

Here, this song is completely improvised by Shawn Lane and his band. Near the end he starts shredding, but it's not his fastest. It's a bit too hard to hear on this recording though.

It's one of my all time favorite songs.

Thanks. I'm listening to it right now. I haven't gotten to the shredding yet, but I love god jazz. :)

I just realized that the shredding is basically inaudible on that. I'll upload the video, haha.

Hahah, yeah, I was just thinking about how poorly the guitar was coming through in this song. Thanks again, Captain Acronym.

Hells Bells 07-17-2005 09:19 PM
I'm sorry to say I didn't notice either. It's nice to have him back anyway.

Anyway, I've really been getting into Finnish power metal. I might just make a thread on it. I found an awesome band who's basicaly very early Bodom (EXTREMELY neo-classical) with a slight Norther feel. Very damn cool.
Wow, this is the first time I've been on since Friday, and I saw my posts from them....how horribly embarrassing lol, next time I get home from a bar, I'll go to bed, and avoid making an *** out of myself.

Anyway, I like the sound of that band ShadowsFallen, I like power/neoclassical metal. Thanks :thumb:

It's cool. I'm glad we all love good metal, but I didn't even say the name of the band yet. :)

I don't know how many of you know of the band Imperanon, but I just discovered them. They've only released one album so far ("Stained") but they are extremely good Finnish neoclassical power metal. Take elements of Follow the Reaper-era Bodom and combine that with the atmosphere and vocal style of Norther. I'm in the process of downloading their album right now.

If I'm bringing up a very common band, someone stop me now before I truly look like an ass.

AA-12 07-17-2005 09:24 PM

I thought you said Staind, as the band at first.

Shadows 07-17-2005 09:26 PM

No, it's the name of the album.

I don't remember the band Staind playing neoclassical lately.

Shattered_Future 07-17-2005 10:07 PM

Staind playing neoclassical...isn't that like Ashlee Simpson playing black metal? A "never happen in a million years" event?

Although Staind's "Dysfunction" wasn't that bad...

I have heard of Imperanon before, but never heard them...come to think of it, i don't know anything about the band besides their name. Will check them out later...

On a HUGE side note, my Human Clay review is up...go leave comments. :thumb:

Given what I've seen of your musical interests, I highly recommend them. Maybe when my downloads finish I'll upload a few tracks.

(shudders as well.)

With no keyboard, the songs would sound weird and naked, and because the keyboard is like infused into the songs, most of their songs wouldn't work.
