sure it would work, but the Hand Hammered would blend better with your existing cymbals

Nightmar3 09-21-2005 02:02 PM

which is the best wuhan spalsh? (is s series the western thing?)

an_original_name 09-21-2005 02:21 PM

^^^ neither are better. they both have different sounds, you have to choose which you like more.

Brokensticks 09-21-2005 07:18 PM

logical harm i was joking Lol i am a brand whore too im sticking with Sabian aswell

Seafroggys 09-21-2005 09:26 PM

I'm not a brand whore. I own Sabian, Zildjian, Istanbul, and Wuhan, and except for the Wuhan, one of each :thumb: two wuhans here....

yeah but I don' t know if I will be able to try them so I should need some advice!

idspispopd 09-22-2005 06:05 PM

What are your opinions on the A Zildjian Medium Thin Crash as opposed to the A Zildjian Medium Crash? I've heard some people say the A Zildjian Medium crash is a strict rock beast, which I don't think would be a wise choice for me. I play classic rock at home and in the high school jazz band.

P.S. Anyone ever break/ding an A Zildjian Medium Thin Crash? Thanks!!!

FL3P 09-22-2005 06:07 PM

I broke my first crash cymbal which was a Zildjian medium thin but that was a long time a go. If you want a multipurpose crash I would get a medium thin bur I dont think the mediums are just rock cymbals.

Seafroggys 09-22-2005 09:45 PM

I own a Sabian AA Medium crash, which is quite similar, if not almost exactly like, the Zildjian A. I love it, its very versatile.

You won't go wrong with either medium-thin or medium though. Whichever one you prefer.

pearlmark 09-23-2005 10:19 AM

i was wondering are sabian xs cymbals gud...?

the medium will have a bit more attack and presence, but the medium-thin will be a bit more faster sounding.

gimp fest 09-23-2005 12:21 PM

has anyone tried the istanbul samatya series? in particular the 14" hats?

opinions?

Seafroggys 09-23-2005 06:43 PM

I've never heard of that series of Istanbul. Is it an Agop, Mehmet, or something completly different?

Brokensticks 09-23-2005 08:28 PM

Never heard of Istanbul :o

shadow_stalker 09-24-2005 07:42 AM

Ok im thinking about getting a Wuhan china but dont know anything about them so could someone suggest a decent one?

Ethan. 09-24-2005 08:06 AM

They are super trashy. I have the 12" one and I don't even use it because it's too fast and sharp. Get a bigger one, maybe 16" or 18". I am getting a 16" next time.

Hammerheart 09-24-2005 06:05 PM

I'm looking for a china, I want it to be bright and fast.

I'd Hit it 09-24-2005 06:32 PM

^ AA Fast Chinese? I have the 16" AA chinese and it sure is bright.

bobby__johnny 09-24-2005 07:34 PM

i got a 16" on its way :thumb:

Maynard4 09-25-2005 09:28 AM

are there some cymbals that sound like paiste signatures but aren't so expensive?

abandonthetruth 09-25-2005 09:29 AM

^^

15" AAXplosion china, perhaps.

GooseFilms.net 09-25-2005 11:25 AM

Oh my god. Has anybody seen these? 19" Z Custom Thrash Ride

I thought it was a joke, until I found it on the Zildjian website.
Honestly... that hammering... that's just not logical.

bobby__johnny 09-25-2005 03:06 PM

looks like a Pro Sonix in the hammering

Tim 09-25-2005 05:30 PM

i imagine that thrash ride sounding liek complete sh!t. seriously. anyway they have been out for a few months now. i dont even want to try one.

jaykemurd 09-25-2005 11:05 PM

OK guys, I've got a fairly simple one. My A Med-Thin 16" Crash just ain't cutting it anymore. My 18" A Med-Thin is awesome, so I just want another 16 that will be loud, but very quick and bright and be comparable with an A or A Custom.

MrMome 09-26-2005 12:18 AM

^Projection Crash(?)

Tim 09-26-2005 12:24 AM
^Projection Crash(?)
that sounds like a good choice. i agree with the A custom projection.

VTDS_xx 09-26-2005 08:54 AM

I need a bright and cutting crash, for a reasonable price. Any ideas?
Also, I have a 18" Wuhan China and I'd like to find something for an also affordable price that is smaller and has a little different sound to it, being that the Wuhans are so trashy, I'd like one thats a little brighter and quick. Any suggestions? (Keep the low-ish budget in mind.)

Iskandar 09-26-2005 08:56 AM

Pro Sonix 16" crash.

straycat101 09-26-2005 10:23 AM

alright, im looking for a nice ride right now. i've been kinda turned onto the A Sweet Ride but i wanna know if there is anyhthing else out there. Right now im a Zildjian man but i wont mind going out of my box. also, i was thinking of buying a 14'' Wuhan China, but i wanna know if they are nice china's overall and if they are good for rideing

Iskandar 09-26-2005 01:34 PM

You'll probably want a bigger china for riding. 16" or 18" at least.

There are tons of great rides out there from all sorts of manufacturers. What kind of sound are you looking for?

straycat101 09-26-2005 04:42 PM

well, i mostly play rock, but i like my ride to have a more jazzy feel, maybe one to be crashed on a bit. i like the ride Dave Lombardo uses on his video on drummerworld.com

i bet thats the worst cymbal made by zildjian. they should be ashamed.

Chippy569 09-26-2005 07:28 PM

Bobby, i'm looking for a china. I need it to be VERY very dry, and short. I tried wuhan 12" and it was still too sustained for me. I dunno if what i'm truly looking for is a stacked china, but i'm pretty sure it's not. I plan to use it when i hit the snare at the same time, so it goes "CHh CHh CHh" and the hits are defined. Logically i'd be looking for something smaller, but i didn't find anything at Ellis (which had sabian china kangs, some stagg DH's, sabian china splash, wuhan 12 and 14" and a few other trinkets).
any ida?

Murd_666 09-26-2005 08:49 PM

i'm not bobby, but thy the aax china seams to work for me, or the metal x china, for something with quicker decay, aa fast china

MrMome 09-27-2005 03:41 AM

^ ^ ^ Yeah, try the Sabian AAX line - mini's and regulars. I think the Evolutions line has a mini china also. Zildjian orientals, imo, are fast too.
