My top ten favorite slayer songs
War Ensemble Angel Of Death Seasons In The Abyss The Antichrist Spill The Blood Black Magic Hallowed Point Altar Of Sacrifice Aggressive Perfector Raining Blood My favorite slayer song to play is War Ensemble, and although I've always favored Jeff over Kerry, Kerry's solo in War Ensemble is my favorite Slayer solo ever. It's very fun to play and sounds so badass. I always love diminished solos for some reason. |
I was joking:p
That made me laugh They should make a drawing of Kerry playing his bagpipes |

I think War Ensemble or Epidemic will be my next Slayer song I'll learn to play. I found this interesting. From http://www.slaytanic.com/abyss.html
What song is Slayer's fastest one? This list isn't guaranteed to be 100% accurate. Necrophobic, 248 bpm Raining Blood, 247 bpm The Anti-Christ and Postmortem, 240 bpm Angel of Death, 237 bpm Dittohead, 228 bpm
|

Happy 1,474 post to me!
yeah they should. Jeff is awesome. |
Yea he's right. it comes in time. Jeff and Kerry are masters of speed picking.
I havn't attempted to learn a Slayer song. I have enough trouble with Tallica.
Besides the solos, South Of Heaven is very easy. |
Besides the solos, South Of Heaven is very easy.
Alright thanks I'm gonna start learning some Slayer |
Besides the solos, South Of Heaven is very easy.
As is Mandatory Suicide. But I haven't even attempted the solo in the song, so I'm not sure how difficult they are. |
yeah those two are pretty easy (south of heaven and mandatory suicide) those are actually - besides raining blood - the first ones i learned...on GUITAR.

Raining Blood isn't really that hard for me. Just the part that goes: E|0-5-3-2-0-6-4-3-0 < you know that part. I can do it, but I just have a hard time keeping it on time. As for the solo, all one has to do is do crazy stuff with the whammy bar and hit random notes. |

That second solo is so sick!!! The song itself is pretty easy, I've just gotta get the right rhythm to the intro down right. I can do it but not with pm. I've gotta work on that. I think that with the exception of the solo, I've got Dead Skin Mask down as well. BTW, Has anyone been able to tab out the intro solo on the remix of Criminally Insane? Every tabsite I go to does not have that intro solo, just the original version of CI. |
What is that song where they are like SATAN!!! SATAN!!! ahh
|
What is that song where they are like SATAN!!! SATAN!!! ahh
I think that was Hell Awaits. That has to be the sickest song that they've ever done. Never have I heard a song that actually sounded like the intro music to hell!!! I don't think they were saying satan though. I think they were saying, "Sing it." |

Perhaps you're thinking of Altar of Sacrifice or Jesus Saves (my sec. fav. Slayer song) Oh well I guess I could be wrong. Most of their songs has something to do with Satan so I guess it could be anyone of them. |
what is the appeal of slayer...they seem very fake in their image and their music is very unappealing...no melody whatsoever...the solos, etc. are very good though...but the lyrics....well....not so good

Ok. You're new here so I won't yell at you. I'll just give you a heads up for the future. If you don't like a band, then don't go into their official site and start bashing them. This is a bannable offense. I'm not out to try to get anyone banned but this happens to be my fav. band and while they seem fake to you, they are very much metal to me. This constitutes a difference of opinion and should not be pressed any further. Thank you and have a nice day. :) |

Yesssssss its Alter Of Sacrifice, man i love blasting metal in cars its orgsmic especially slayer SATANN!!! hahaha |

You don't have to have the skills of Steve Vai or Yngwie Malmsteen to be an awesome guitarist or musician for that matter. All you've gotta do is play what you think constitutes as good music and never miss a gig or rehearsal. Slayer has done all of the above and their music actually sounds cool. I thought I was Cobshred, BTW use the edit function and don't double post. |

Well many bands have I guess you could say "fake" lyrics. Tom has openly admitted that their Satanic lyrics in the past were all just a gimmick because back in the 80's Satan and stuff was taboo, and they knew if they sang about that stuff, they'd get attention. It worked. Slayer are probably the biggest thrash metal band ever. And they set out to be the most badass, violent, fastest band ever. Which is why the didn't feel the need for melodies, pretty songs, smooth solos, or slow songs. The only song I can think of with some kind of melody.. is the chorus of their song Bloodline. Nowadays there only image to fulfill is being the best Thrash band. Which they still are.
Yesssssss its Alter Of Sacrifice, man i love blasting metal in cars its orgsmic especially slayer SATANN!!! hahaha
Yeah the lyrics to Alter of Sacrifice go.. Praise Hell, Satan. That's the only song on RIB I actually can admit I do not like. I don't know why, it just doesn't float my boat.
I don't think they were saying satan though. I think they were saying, "Sing it."
At the beginning of Hell Awaits... "Join Us" is being said backwards. |

Steve is cool, but I just don't dig a whole lot of neoclassical shred. Metal is about breaking rules and classical is full of them. |

Its not really ABOUT breaking rules in my opinion but metal does and it sounds amazing so im good with it :thumb: |

Lemme guess, an attempt at subliminal messages? |
Lemme guess, an attempt at subliminal messages?
Possibly. But it probably sounds really creepy when played backwards on a record player, which is probably why they put it on there, knowing people would spin the record backwards. What I don't get is the "Welcome Back!" part of the song. |

What I don't get is the "Welcome Back!" part of the song.
What I love most about the song is where they slow down Tom's voice at the end of the first verse. That sounds so demonic and creepy. Very sick indeed. BTW < here's what I look like. I'm no george clooney, but I've got a decent mug. |

But when they perform it live on War at the Warfield, it doesn't sound that great, because it' just him shouting it. I saw your picture in the MX R&M Map thread. You're quite different than what I pictured, I don't know why, but I pictured you as some scrawny guy with short spiked hair. But you look like a pretty decent sized man. |

Never will I do anything that stupid again. Trust me, there's no scrawny to me at all. I don't like telling my weight but here it goes: I weigh 295. There, you beat it out of me. I weigh a lot. Apparently my love for fast food is going to send me to an early grave. Cool. |
tri-hawk eh? pics?
