For some reason, Dave leaving just doesn't surprise me, and I don't feel bad about it or anything, it's weird I know, but...things happen I guess, I hope they find someone good to replace him...whatever

form 05-17-2006 09:54 PM

I felt the same from when I didn't know, to when I did.

They'll get someone else probably anyway, so I don't even care.

bassist_for_a_band 05-19-2006 08:51 PM

I don't want them to replace him... I couldn't even imagine someone else being able to. It'll be weird, but I'd rather it satyed Cone, Deryck, and Steve. It's not the same without Dave, let alone with an entirely new guitarist. I know they'd need a lead for live stuff but I wouldn't want to see someone actually become part of the band...

But I hope everything goes well for them all. Deryck said on the Sum 41 messageboard that the new album would be a mix of their old stuff, and "classic sum 41 but better." So I'm really hoping to hear some sweet **** that I know Sum 41 can come up with.

masterbasser41 05-20-2006 08:29 PM

dave

I dont know what it was but i always knew that he would quit one day he was an amazing guitarest made sum what they were with out them they wont be the same i hope they dont get another member it wouldent be right it would be weird go threw all that than get another guitarest to join and learn all there songs and make more it will be impossible to replace dave.

guitarsolosrock 05-21-2006 10:06 AM

nothing is gonna change with sum 41 and the music they make, i believe that this album will be the best one so far, and nothign will change as far as the guitar riffs and chords go because it was derek that wrote them and told dave what to play. also i read somewhere that sum 41 will not be searching for a replacement guitarist. this is good because as someone said earlier, no one else can really fit in with these guys, they guys are crazy and their live shows are amazing and they kind of person that would fit seamlessly into that group only comes along once in a while and i think that the only person that fit in with them was dave. he's i quote from derek i found:

"The fact is Dave lost interest a long time ago," Whibley added. "Not to take any credit away from him, but he really didn't have anything to do with this band creatively for a long time. I wrote all those riffs and played most of them on the albums. So from a creative stand point nothing is going to change with Sum 41."

Also i heard that apparently dave has been depressed and was "distant" form the band members the only time they really talked was on the road and in studio when they had to. But apparently dave has been considering quitting since AKNF

Jessizzle 05-21-2006 10:52 AM

Hey, Maybe they'll come home!

bassist_for_a_band 05-24-2006 08:58 PM

Well I see that they updated the news on sum41.com... They just say how Dave left and all... Nothing new.

DJ Ducksauce 05-24-2006 09:01 PM

Well, they are working on the new album. I hope it's not too Chuck'y'

FauxApathy 05-25-2006 09:33 PM

Ha... i kinda hope there will be another rap/rock song ala It's what we're all about or Fat Lip.

It'd be kinda weird without dave though... only two people trading lyrics back and forth.

DJ Ducksauce 05-25-2006 09:33 PM

Wow, how would they do that live? Cone isn't much of a talker.

poo-poo-pee-pee 05-26-2006 07:14 PM

I love Cone. He only says like 5 words a show, but he always makes me laugh.

Deryck: "I'm ****in' stupid!"
Cone: "It's true."

So subtle, yet, I found it funny.

..Anyways, I rekon Cone could fill in for Dave's vocal parts, he's not a bad singer, I've heard him on a few live tracks.
ie: No Brains; the 'So Sick of you, so sick of... " bit.

DJ Ducksauce 05-26-2006 09:11 PM

Yeah, he did some yelling in We're All to Blame on a live performance I saw. He wasn't bad.

bassist_for_a_band 05-26-2006 09:17 PM

Yea he does some backups but nothing near what Dave did... We'll have to wait and see

And on the Sum41.com messageboard, Deryck said the new album would be a mix of all of their old stuff... And "'Classic Sum 41' but better." So that's what I'm hoping for. More of an HHoP-esqe sound. But hey, any Sum 41 is good Sum 41.

I downloaded Moron, Subject To Change, Noots, WWVII... All those bonus tracks and stuff. They're pretty cool. I like how Subject To Change has lyrics from other songs like No Reason. It's almost like some songs thrown together or something.

bullgarrafuerte 06-02-2006 10:07 PM

i like motivation a lot.. but I don't know if they are still playing as a band?

FauxApathy 06-02-2006 10:22 PM

I've been meaning to ask, what album is WWVII on? I've looked through tracklists many times, and have never saw it listed.

bullgarrafuerte: Yes, they are still a band, The Lead Guitarist has quit however.

bullgarrafuerte 06-02-2006 10:40 PM

mmm.. so I think they will not be the same as they used to be... i hope the new cd is as good as the last one does this look infected dave was cool-..

yourstruly 06-02-2006 11:20 PM

I'm not really that bummed or surprised that Dave left. I'm real curious as to what the new music is gonna be like.

It was on the bonus DVD Cross Your T's and Gouge Your Eyes that came with Does This Look Infected?

nightwalker 06-03-2006 06:42 AM

wtf i didnt even know he had left, hes a great player i think .

Clunge 06-03-2006 06:56 AM

Ahh, I dug out All Killer No Filler and Does This Look Infected? a week or so ago, I really forgot how much I liked Sum 41 and how much better they are than the current crop of similar bands.

I didn't care for Chuck much though.

bullgarrafuerte 06-03-2006 08:08 AM

Last Cd?

bzzd and cone are still on the band..and throughout this years they have changing their themes and becoming more mature as well but I think their next CD will be their last one..

DJ Ducksauce 06-03-2006 08:17 AM

That sounds very possible. It would be sad to see Sum 41 go though.

bullgarrafuerte 06-03-2006 08:24 AM

I've never went to a concert... I'd kill for getting a ticket.. are they doing more performances?

bassist_for_a_band 06-03-2006 11:43 AM

I would assume that they'd tour whenever their next album comes out... That might not be until 2007 though... Who knows

nightwalker 06-04-2006 11:11 AM

i like there sound now. i read that dave wants to be in a more metal band, i like metal sound of sum 41 now. there not metal but got heavy riffs in it and they are still catchy

bullgarrafuerte 06-04-2006 11:36 AM

more metal?.. mmm that's kind of wierd-- sum 41 for me seems to be everything but not metal-..

Neoteric 06-04-2006 11:56 AM

Nothing On My Back is such a catchy song :)

yourstruly 06-04-2006 03:16 PM

Sum 41 aren't metal at all. They're just pop/punk with heavy riffs.

bullgarrafuerte 06-04-2006 07:57 PM

I agree with that.. but does anybody know in what band is dave going to be playing know?

bassist_for_a_band 06-04-2006 08:06 PM
I agree with that.. but does anybody know in what band is dave going to be playing know?
He's starting his own metal band, Brown Brigade

or something along those lines

yourstruly 06-04-2006 08:53 PM

Bummer, I hate metal.

bullgarrafuerte 06-05-2006 09:04 AM

That really sucks.. I think he is not going to get somewhere having his metal band..but still dave is dave and I also think that he will be able to make ot somewhere

DJ Ducksauce 06-05-2006 11:39 AM

Sum 41 is pretty popular, but I don't think they're big enough to have a spin off band be very successful like blink could.

Bad Blood 06-05-2006 11:59 AM

Lmao! "Brown Brigade"

Well the whole band were all into metal.

punkrocker-182 06-05-2006 03:20 PM

I Like old Sum 41
Before Chuck.

bullgarrafuerte 06-06-2006 08:48 AM

I like to play pieces-- I think this is the only song they made this way. its like really quiet

bassist_for_a_band 06-06-2006 05:12 PM

Blink had like at least 4 spinoff bands....

punkrocker-182 06-06-2006 07:31 PM
Blink had like at least 4 spinoff bands....
5 soon.

DJ Ducksauce 06-06-2006 07:39 PM
Blink had like at least 4 spinoff bands....
Yeah, and all have done quite well for themselves.

I was saying that I don't think that the Brown Brigade will be that successful. It will have some following, but not a big one at first.
