Yeah but I'm not sure if she asked specifically for 'screamo' bands because with Hot Cross they don't really sound like screamo bands.
But yeah, if you haven't heard them definitely check them out. |

You know your stuff. |
lolz, first post in Emo/hardcore
|
Yay for Sep.
If you want like 5-10 screamo songs I'd be more than happy to send you some just so you can get a feel of what the genre's like. |
lolz, first post in Emo/hardcore
And a magnificent one at that. |
Hot Cross aren't emo!
|
What are they?
|
A hardcore band.
|
Hot Cross never really struck me as a hardcore band. But eh, oh well, still amazing.
|
Call them whatever you like, but 'emo' is stretching it.
Calling just about any new band 'emo' is silly. Emo died like 8 years ago, and bands just don't do that kind of music anymore. Of course music evolves, but Hot Cross is so different to say, Indian Summer. |
What are underoath and alexisonfire classed as???does any1 like them
|
Emocore.
I like Alexisonfire a lot and Underoath is okay. |
New Underoath is classifed as crap. Alexisonfire is decent, but that's really stretching it.
|
Isn't emocore a tautology of sorts?
|
Emo stands for emotional hardcore, so really, emocore, doesn't make any sense.
|
Emocore is not what they're classified as.
Tell me what they are then, and don't say popcore. |
The old Underoath is hardcore - at least I think. I don't know what to think about the new Underoath though. I don't know much about alexisonfire though.
Emocore is obviously more hardcore than Emo. Emo is when bands soften down and lose some of the hardcore elements but they do still have some hardcore there. I'm sure there's a difference between Saetia and Rites of Spring. EDIT - http://www.fourfa.com <They would have better explainations than I would. |
Emocore is not what they're classified as.
I've seen several people here use that as a label to categorize the type of stuff most misinformed people would call screamo. |
We used it for a lack of a better term. However, with the helpful invention of popcore™, we now have a name for it.

I thought that was used for stuff like The Used; that sort of thing e.g. Pop-punk with screaming. Alexis, especially their first album, strays quite alot from that type of music. |
True, the first album does have a little more depth to it. But new Underoath is definitely popcore.

Yeah definitely. But this still leaves the question: What genre would Alexis fall under? Answers on a postcard. |
I really just think of them as a poppy/melodic rock band. There's really nothing "core" about them.
|
But dey screem.
|

Even on their self-titled? It's not exaclty poppy; most of the songs don't have a chorus and it has lots of those melodic, atmospheric almost screamo-esque bits (althought the heavy parts are nowhere as near as chaotic). Anyway, I guess they're just one of those bands that sort of fall inbetween genres. |

I wouldn't call the new album post-hardcore.
|
I wouldn't call the new album post-hardcore.
Hey IM me at Pixiesfanyo if you want a Off Minor cd. |
Anyone have an album suggestion for Off Minor?
|
Innominate.
|
nah, the heat death of the universe is where it's at.
|
Alexisonfire is post-hardcore. An interesting/melodic take on modern hardcore. Post-hardcore. Ya that makes sense.
Underoath epitomizes popcore so I'm not going to cater to your request. They are pop punk/hardcore if you don't want to compress it to popcore.
Yeah I suppose I've always seen emocore and post-hardcore as pretty much the same thing. I was going to say post-hardcore but then I didn't think that sounded right for Underoath. |
nah, the heat death of the universe is where it's at.
Have you ever heard Innominate, it takes everything from Heat Death and makes it better. |
nah, the heat death of the universe is where it's at.
I agree. I definitely prefer Heat Death to Innominate. |
Hahahaha....the past week at my school was hilarious. Last thursday i came to school and started going "You down with O.P.P?". A few kids responded right so i got a group of people to respond in a chant when i said "You down with O.P.P?". So then my other friends started their own group and my group and the other group just had this huge gang war. Both sides would recruit members and fight. It got thru my whole skool. People would go "Who you down w/; O.P.P. or A.R.S.(the othr group). It lasted until teusday when the school put all their staff on the feild to stop it. I fled when we were all caught. Then in the middle of running my friend and I found a cardboard box and started breakdancing when we were caught my the head staff member. My punishment was to stay off the feild for a week. So now the school is all worried about "gangs" and stuff like that. They are inforcing new rules at lunch like you can't be in groups, you can't chant anything, you can't clap, and you can't skip whiling holding hands(this one was enforced after my friend and i were skipping with our hand held and the lady caught me and my friend and told us to stop. So trevor,my friend, said "What about gay rights?"). The principles came out today and were worried. Its pretty weird b/c the school is a little sub-urban middle school and most people there, including myself, live in the sub-urbs.
|
...what?
|
...what?
