"Trout Mask Replica" is Beefheart, of course. But those are excellent albums, so I would say he'll enjoy them.

And yet, that guitarist had the least cut hair I've seen in quite a while.

The Mansions

here is a band you 've never heard of!

www.themansions.tv

hint: think Depeche Mode on steroids....

YDload 11-19-2004 12:22 AM

Sparta- Collapse. I'm terrible at deciphering lyrics, but reading them off the Internet while listening to the song really makes it that much more powerful. The music alone proves that these guys can still make great music without Cedric and Omar, but the lyrics are just a tiny bit saner.

Bartender 11-19-2004 12:26 AM

I just downloaded an album by a band I, until a short while ago, had never heard of, called Murder by Death, and it's really rather good.

enjoy_cai 11-19-2004 06:18 AM

The Violent Femmes and Wilco

I've been diggin' the Violent Femmes- Blister in the Sun, Kiss Off, and Please do not Go. They have been to my home town in the middle of nowhere Juneau, Alaska. I didn't get to see them I will regret it for ever. I learned about them from Bright Eyes who he says he listened to them as a kid.
Wilco is a great depressing band. I've been listening to Hell is Chrome, Humming Bird, Wishful Thinking. Hell is Chrome has some of the best **** guitar licks I've ever heard. Well they aren't extremely great but it makes the song so **** great. :thumb:

Tapeworm 11-19-2004 09:09 AM

I've been digging Little Birdy and Eskimo Joe still, as I am seeing them in a couple of days. Perth really is a hotbed for great music.

Dissapear.

Tangy zizzle 11-19-2004 08:20 PM

A lot of Jon Spencer Blues Explosion. These guys have become a daily staple in my musical diet.

I cranked out Penance Soiree yesterday. That album has balls the size of Texas, I am telling you! I got a poster like 4 days ago from their gig that I went to abour 6 months ago. It also has large testicals.

Hot Water Music are my favourite modern punk band. Do you care?

br3ad_man 11-20-2004 03:40 AM

Elbow
Cooper Temple Clause
M83
The Radio Dept.

asymm 11-20-2004 03:26 PM

I've listened to Joy Division's Unknown Pleasures an ungodly amount the past day or so...

Tangy zizzle 11-20-2004 03:47 PM

I scored like 20 CD's yesterday, so I've been listening to different things.

Neil Young
Tori Amos
The Stranglers
Arlo Guthrie
Led Zeppelin
Crowded House
Charlie Parker
U2
Massive Attack

Iris 11-20-2004 03:53 PM

Downloaded 20 cds? or bought?

Tangy zizzle 11-20-2004 03:56 PM

Not d/led. Real CD's. Yes.

Luxor 11-20-2004 04:15 PM

'Tis a lot of CD's.

Lately I've been listening to:

Between The Buried And Me - The Silent Circus
Beastie Boys - To The 5 Buroughs (I think that's how it's spelt, it's a burned CD)
Elliott Smith - From A Basement On The Hill
Weezer - Pinkerton
TV On The Radio - Desperate Youth, Blood Thirsty Babes

Wow. Nice work, man. Haven't heard Crowded House in years.

Iai 11-20-2004 05:00 PM

I'm still diggin' on Handsome Boy Modeling School. And I just got into Sublime. Good stuff.

I also dawned on me today just how unbelievably great both Stevie Wonder's 'Songs in The Key Of Life', and Asian Dub Foundation's 'Community Music', really are.

My best friend just told me, 'You really are quite the indie kid nowadays.'
