For proof of that, just look at all the death metal and black metal bands who are inspired by Discharge, GBH and Amebix, and then check out how many punk bands of that generation got started with Motorhead and Venom. It's impressive how much crossover exists between metal and punk, but people don't talk about it much. Why, I don't know.
