i have that burial album and enjoy it a lot. but i've never even heard of the others will download all of them. thanks much. :)

Ventriloquist 12-17-2009 04:21 PM

No problem. Thievery Corporation has some trip-hop elements as well. Actually remove it from the dubstep list and put it on your trip-hop list. And get Sounds From The Thievery Hi-fi first. I can't rec any other trip-hop because I have yet to encounter something that I really enjoy(other than massive attack).

beans 12-17-2009 05:18 PM

i still need some heavy in the mix though, good DM and melo-death is a must

Jaundice 12-17-2009 05:33 PM
Too much of Radiohead and emo indie is getting me depressed to a point i start listening to eminem and big boi.
I need some good hard rock album recommendations,
anything that sounds close to Pearl jam and stone temple pilots :)
lol

FatalEnergy 12-17-2009 06:10 PM

Skid Row - Slave to the Grind

That's a good ****in' rockin' album.

imperialblackness 12-19-2009 11:48 AM
Dubstep:
Benga - Diary of an afro warrior
Silkie - city limits vol 1
Thievery Corporation - Richest man in babylon
Burial - untrue
Pulshar - brotherhood

Can rec some more, but I think these should be sufficient.
Benga is awesome

Meatplow 12-19-2009 12:03 PM

trip-hop -

Saltillo - Ganglion

imperialblackness 12-19-2009 01:40 PM

Dirty Elegance is pretty good trip-hop

beans 12-19-2009 01:49 PM

i got to really listen to thievery corporation on the way down to cali
that album thievery sounds of the hifi i think.
I really enjoyed it, with the exception of some Rastafarian voice in almost every song. It wasn't bad for the first half of the album, it just got on my nerves after a while.

Dirty Elegance was awesome though. Will def be getting more of their material.

Skyler 12-19-2009 03:41 PM

trip-hop:

Sneaker Pimps - Becoming X
Lamb - Lamb
Crustation - Bloom

Meatplow 12-20-2009 11:24 AM

Apoc 12-20-2009 05:07 PM

their other stuff features some dude vocalist

I like her vocals on that album though, 6 Underground's my favorite track by them

Jaundice 12-20-2009 09:12 PM

well 6 underground is a very bad song

Apoc 12-20-2009 09:22 PM

well you're a stupid poopy head

Jaundice 12-21-2009 01:23 AM

the more radical the better

Ventriloquist 12-21-2009 03:49 AM

2nd Outlet - Burnt Sienna

illmitch 12-21-2009 04:15 AM

looking to get into some neofolk, any recs? (asking haz specifically)

Meatplow 12-21-2009 04:17 AM

[21:13] haz: current 93 - all the pretty horses, death in june - brown book, sol invictus - lex talionis, fire + ice - runa, nature and organisation - beauty reaps the blood of solitude

illmitch 12-21-2009 04:19 AM

tight, thanks man!

Tyler 12-21-2009 04:27 AM

rome's latest is ridiculously good

Ventriloquist 12-21-2009 04:27 AM

+ Rome - Confessions. Though there's a good chance you've already heard them.

edit: Yeah, it's really different than their previous albums. Much more dynamic and jaunty.

Meatplow 12-21-2009 06:26 AM
tight, thanks man!
I pretty much just mentioned a few key albums from the core of the british scene, theres a whole heap of european stuff to get through as well.

Txus 12-21-2009 09:56 AM

Peter Brötzmann
Derek Bailey
Albert Ayler
Sun Ra
Cecil Taylor
Pharoah Sanders
Ornette Coleman
Otomo Yoshihide's New Jazz Quintet

Jaundice 12-21-2009 10:52 AM

i knw i could count on u

Txus 12-21-2009 10:57 AM

And get some Coltrane, not free jazz but still a major influence on most of them.

Room13 12-21-2009 11:24 AM

his later stuff is free jazz

Ventriloquist 12-21-2009 03:33 PM

yeah, you can also check the later stuff of Wayne Shorter(another legend). His last ensemble played avant-garde when I saw them last year. All of his post 2000 albums are with this ensemble as far as I know.

Skyler 12-21-2009 04:54 PM
their other stuff features some dude vocalist

Yeah, the male vocalist is Chris Corner, the guy that writes most of the music. They kicked the girl out because they didn't want to sound like other downtempo bands of the time.

6 Underground is also my favorite song of theirs, and probably my favorite song in general.
