So if i tell you that i like it and that i think it's a good cd then you're calling me stupid and tone deaf? whatever man. It's sad that the majority of people who don't like st. anger only dislike it because it was released by Metallica. If it was released by a newer band then people couldn't compare it to other cds from that band and say it sux compared to their older ones.

On another note- If you read the "Bands whos last albums sucked" thread you'll see that obviously Metallica isn't the only band that has released a dissapointing cd lately. It's just that everyone was expecting so much more out of Metallica because they have so much talent that they're not putting to use. I guess if it makes you feel better to call me ****ing stupid or ****ing tone deaf then go ahead, i'm not holding you back.
If Megadeth or Anthrax released St. Anger, I'd be pretty pissed off! Obviously you dont' know what the f*ck you're talking about. In fact, any band that released St. Anger would have made me angry. Metallica is not a band that releases albums with just 1 good song on them. They're way too good for that. I love Metallica, and they're one of the greatest bands of all time. I definately agree with that. Summer Sanitarium 2003 was a great Metallica show, but they had poor opening acts, excluding Deftones and MuDvAyNe, who ****ing rock. I don't think they're losing it, I just think they had a faux pa (false step) with St. Anger. If I haven't gotten my point across on that yet, you people are nuts.

Favourite Metallica Solo and Song

Allright here's a question for everyone.

What is your favourite Metallica song to play?

and

What do you think the easiest Metallica solo to play is?

Joeeddstealschickens 02-13-2004 07:12 AM

At the moment I like playing Fuel and Ktulu, and the easiest solo is the opener to Fade to Black.

mate i totally agree with you. something about st anger that makes me wanna be sick. the drums are awfully tinny, the vocals and lyrics are ****house and the guitaring and bass is tuned down linking park chord crap :smash: :smash: :smash:

borisdablade 02-13-2004 08:10 AM

!

For ****s sake drop the st anger issue. The album flopped GET OVER IT. It was a necessary step, they gained a brilliant bass player out of it, proved they are still amazing live and can now focus on creating better music. They hadnt been in the studio for 6 years, let alone been a cohesive unit. That impacts on the song writing process. The next will be better, for if you dont like st anger, DONT F UCKING LISTEN TO IT. For Fu cks sake stop filling perfectly good post space with incesent whinging about what is done is done.

On a lighter note, does anyone think the solo in disposable heroes sounds really proggy??? Like DT or something?

Disillusioned-X 02-13-2004 08:51 AM

Well first off st anger i know isnt metallica's best album but you have to consider what metallica went through.
James went sober
Jason left
Bob rock played bass
Kirk injured for some parts of it and also came down from cocaine
Just to name a few

NoHero9 02-13-2004 10:33 AM

firstly, I agree with boris, secondly, I didn't even know kirk had a cocaine problem, and Thirdly, as of now, my favorite metallica songs to play are The thing that should not be, Master of Puppets(who doesnt love playing that?), Leper Messiah, the call of Ktulu, and theres a couple others i enjoy playing, but I dont wanna toot my own horn.

A few other good ones are:
eye of the beholder :thumb:
nothing else matters

i didn't know that Kirk Hammet was addicted to cocaine. I thought it was just the drinking. I know that they all had to do something about that, even though James was the worst about it.

borisdablade 02-14-2004 12:45 AM

oh and sacrifice the reason your havtn got your point across is because you have no musical knowledge what so ever to support it. It seems everytime i turn around theres another thread with you whinging about st anger with nothing to support your claims. Stop being a bloody sheep, hating st anger earns you no browny points here.

Agamemnon 02-14-2004 03:57 AM

I reckon Sanitarium is a pretty cool song to play and the first solo for that is pretty easy. Also if you have two guitars For Whom The Bell Tolls is a machine song to play.

favourite song to play are ... Nothing Else matters, Unforgiven II, Master of Puppets (not the solo! I ain't that good yet!), Enter Sandman, Ktulu ...

easiest solo to pull off is Nothing else Matters

Squirrel 02-14-2004 07:11 AM

I think the intro solo in *One* is their easiest.

Currently playing Damage Inc' and fight fire with fire.

xtreme_skatah 02-14-2004 09:15 PM

My favourite song to play is AJFA

Which solo do you play, the electric one or the acoustic one?

rootboundapollo 02-15-2004 01:47 AM

why does it seem that alot of people dont like ...And Justice for all as much?

rootboundapollo 02-15-2004 01:48 AM

1400...and to give it meaning...i like metallica

borisdablade 02-15-2004 04:15 AM

ajfa is a pretty challenging listen man, i hate the production on that album, it sounds flat as all fu ck. But you cant deny the song writing on there, hear those songs live esp the title track, they are just awesome.

My fav(s) to play are:

-Fight fire with fire
-Leper Messiah
-Frayed ends of sanity (love the main riff)

got more but...

Probably the easiest solo is the first solo
in fade to black.

Yeah I forgot bout that one, it is fun to play. I like
messing with notes and the trem. arm at the end ( don't even
have a wah pedal yet).

SilenceNOmorE 02-16-2004 01:48 AM

As a drummer, my fav songs to play are Bells, (lots of room for improvisation and double kick bits) Ktulu, (same as Bells) Seek and Destroy, Battery, Roam, Puppetz, and Creeping Death, and Whiplash (Death and Whiplash are just REALLy awesome bang your head, have a lot of fun, scream and shout songs, and probably Metallica's best live :D)

I'm sick and tired of playing Sandman and One, and I simply can't play Blackened, although I wish I could.
edit: Blackened is 7/4 and 6/4 with occasional forays into 5,3, and 2/4, Jeez.

UnknowN Doodl3 02-16-2004 08:22 AM

^Can you play fight fire with fire on drums (I know its just fast and nothing special about it, but i<m curious)...

I don't know about you, but I use a peavey rage practice amp with my boss
MD2 and my guitar is a black Ibanez and when I play master of puppets,
I put the distortion at 5(at on a scale of 10), The gainc boost at 8, the level at 6, and I put both tones at max, then with the amp, Bass at 3, Middle at
6 or 7 and Treble at 3. Thats how I play master of puppets with my equipment.

yablo 02-16-2004 09:59 AM

Song info. for "ILIKETOPLAYDRUMS"

Dude, I looking at your list of tunes, I would personally suggest anything from Kill Em All, Ride the Lightning, Master of Puppets, and Garage Inc.. If you want a taste of Metallica's education, check out the New Wave of British Heavy Metal '79 Revisted CD. It was compiled by Lars and a friend of his that writes for the Kerrang! magazine in Europe. You'll hear some of the original versions of Metallica cover tunes such as "It's Electric, Blitzkreig, and Iron Maiden." Until Zakk Wylde popped up, I thought Metallica and Slayer were the last soldiers of good metal. UNITE METAL BROTHERS AND SISTERS!!! WE'RE DUE FOR ANOTHER WORLDWIDE DOMINATION! IT HAS BEEN TOOOOOOO LONG!!! yablo....................

YDload 02-16-2004 05:35 PM

My favorite song to play is either Orion or Four Horsemen, but the easiest is probably Enter Sandman. Keep in mind this is on bass.

dougefresh 02-16-2004 05:37 PM

My favorite song to play is probably Fade to Black, Master of Puppets, One, or Creeping Death.
