Im gonna do some blades and get totally ripped and then listen to pink floyd!!:)
Sounds like fun :)

I didn't get to go to the CD store today :( I was gonna buy some Gov't Mule, they're supposed to be a good band from what I hear. I guess I'll go tomorrow.

"If" is a really good song, so mellow and stuff.

DeusExMachina 03-05-2006 05:45 PM

I like If. I like Meddle in general. I have to say though, One Of These Days is one of my least favorite tracks on that album. I guess I'm the anomaly there, though.

BigTrav415 03-05-2006 05:48 PM

If isn't on Meddle  n00000b :p

I'd say Seamus is my least fave on Meddle, but I still love it :)

fearless is probably my favorite track off Meddle right now, even though it constantly changes between that and Echoes

123, I love it, but I think it's outweighed by the others.

BigTrav415 03-05-2006 05:51 PM

Fearless is definitely on my Top 5 Best Songs of All Time Ever. <3 Nosferatu :-*

You see, I love this thread, because we can spam every once in a while without getting bitched at :) Because it's not spam if it's about PF, but some people think if it's a short post omg spam!

Cry me a river. No one in the CR thread ever said we couldn't have some off-topic discussion now and then. Stop blowing things out of proportion when it's really no big deal.

BigTrav415 03-05-2006 05:59 PM

<3 Lunch

I'm just playin' :p

So anyway, When did everyone first hear Meddle? I bought it one night a long trip and just sat on my couch and listened to it the whole way through :) What a great memory.

MidnightRider 03-05-2006 06:04 PM

I got it for Christmas a year ago and listened to it for like 2 weeks straight. It's been my #1 Floyd album for quite some time now.

Deconstruction 03-05-2006 06:08 PM

How does everyone have so many songs by PF? I have all Studio releases and DSoT, and a bootleg...

BigTrav415 03-05-2006 06:10 PM

Yeah, that's what I'm trying to work out right now... I have most studio releases and two bootlegs, and that's not too too much, but only about half of what 'bus has. I can't figure out where he's getting all those songs either.

Lunch 03-05-2006 06:15 PM

I have 184 Floyd songs, but it's not even a whole GB.

rippa32 03-05-2006 06:33 PM

My favourites from Meddle are A Pillow Of Winds and San Tropez. Also I just listened to that line from One Of These Days once in the left speaker and once in the right but I didn't hear a difference. I have a 1992 remaster CD that was released in 1994, could that be the problem?

Did Waters really sing all of the Animals album? Wow, Im even worse at picking the difference than I thought.

Don't feel too bad, for about the first two months I listened to Floyd, I thought only Waters sang.

classicrockman 03-05-2006 06:38 PM

David Gilmour's solo album is out this Tuesday. Who else is gonna buy it besides me?

BigTrav415 03-05-2006 06:49 PM

<------ is going to buy it :)

I actually haven't heard the single yet, my radio station hasn't played it when I've heard it.

MidnightRider 03-05-2006 06:52 PM

I would kill to hear the single, but my radio station hasn't come through for me. I'll definitely be buying the album, if only to support Gilmour. I've heard it's supposed to be pretty good though.

Deconstruction 03-05-2006 06:53 PM

Maybe, assuming I have the cash.

classicrockman 03-05-2006 06:57 PM

That would be awesome if his tour would come to my town.
How does everyone have so many songs by PF? I have all Studio releases and DSoT, and a bootleg...
I have most of the studio releases (missing The Final Cut) and I have several bootlegs as well (11 I think).

classicrockman 03-05-2006 07:18 PM

I have all of the studio albums except for 'Ummagumma.' I would get it just to have all of them, but I don't even know if it's worth it. Is it a good album?

Want to upload those bootlegs???

Umma Gumma is a hit or miss album with most. I would buy it.

Damn. It's AHM, isn't it? Silly me.

/is a Pink Floyd noob.

Edit: I will also be buying the Gilmour album.

Ummagumma is the best Floyd album hands down.

I saw the Gilmour single on Channel 473:p

I just got it and Atom Heart Mother last Christmas.
The two Pigs On The Wings were sung by Waters, as well as Pigs, Sheep, and most of Dogs. On Dogs at the beginning they have a part where it's two dogs talking, Gilmour is the older wiser dog, and Waters is the other one.
Gilmour sang the whole first 8:00 up until the dragged down by the stone line on Dogs.

From pinkfloydonline.com

Nick Mason: "This was a bit of a return to the group feel, quite a
cheerful session as I remember. We did it in our own studio, which we'd
just built. By now Roger was in full flow with the ideas, but he
was also really keeping Dave down, and frustrating him deliberately."

Rick Wright: "I didn't like a lot of the writing on Animals, but
unfortunately I didn't have anything to offer. I think I played well
but I remember feeling not very happy or creative, partly because of
problems with my marriage. This was the beginning of my writer's
block."

David Gilmour: "On Animals I was the prime musical force. Roger was the
motivator and lyric writer."

------------------
Interesting, wot?

Dragon_Prince 03-06-2006 09:02 AM

Mhm, bit I think Animals is one of their worst albums

I believe that goes to show where the band was headed at this point. They're all saying different things and going in different directions. Mason seems optimistic and relaxed, Wright is starting to feel the pressure and isolation, Gilmour's ego is starting to rise, and Waters is just going insane. It's the formula for disaster.

MidnightRider 03-06-2006 02:17 PM
Mhm, bit I think Animals is one of their worst albums
I understand that it's completely subjective, but how the hell can you consider Animals to be one of their worst albums?
