^^^ I had my friend in the middle of a download and a message popped up saying the connection with the server was reset. We are trying it again now. The other one wouldnt work either for some reason... Something about it being in the wrong format? We have used YSI and had it work before so I dont know whats up with this.

Ill keep trying...

Just a few questions about the (awesome) song 2112. I've always loved epic story-telling stuff like this, but I'm just confused about one thing.

I went to a lyrics site, and they have a prose paragraph for the "Overture" before "The meek shall inherit the Earth" that wasn't in the song. Was this in the album liner notes or whatever? The same for The Temples Of Syrinx" part, and all the other parts as far as I can tell. Just clear that up for me, as I'm sure that's just what it is.

Thanks :)

Which lyrics site?

I find that is the best source of Classic Rock lyrics out there, it basically split up the different parts into seperate songs, and had a paragraph or two in quotations before the sung lyrics. Pretty interesting.

yeah it is.. it was originally a poem written by neil peart but he had to write it into song-form so changed it a bit. But yes, the other parts are in the albums liner notes

thunderzstruck 03-12-2006 09:02 AM

...bump >_>

Mambuto_O'Mally 03-12-2006 11:37 AM

Wow, I just finnished listening to Grace Under Pressure. AMAZING ALBUM! I've always loved their 80's sound and that one is probably my favorite by them.

Stumpflower 03-12-2006 03:02 PM

yeah, rush is cool. Geddy Lee is amazing with all the instruments he plays. Neil Peart and Alex Lifeson are sweet too. My favorite song by them is YYZ.

MidnightRider 03-12-2006 03:04 PM

All I have is 2112, what should I get next?

temporary 03-12-2006 03:15 PM

Hey, does anyone know how to unlock the easter eggs on the Rush in Rion DVD?
Hey, does anyone know how to unlock the easter eggs on the Rush in Rion DVD?

All I have is 2112, what should I get next?

All I have is 2112, what should I get next?
Probably Hemisphere's if you're in to 2112. I love Fly By Night...especially the last track In The End. Actually the reality is that I love everything they did up to and including the 1993 album Counterparts. If you listen to their albums in order there's this really nice progression in their sound and musical style...a steady evolution that gives each album it's own identity and sound.

thunderzstruck 03-21-2006 10:38 PM

anyone know whats up with the 71st page?

EDIT: neeevermind

BludgeonySteve 03-21-2006 10:52 PM

Hemispheres has the same album format as 2112 (big epic title song and then a few others). I think that the songs on Hemispheres are overall better than the ones on 2112 but 2112 is better than Hemispheres the song.

On Hemispheres, what guitar effect is Alex using in all of those kickass rythm riffs? It sounds to me like a touch of phaser.

TojesDolan 03-21-2006 11:10 PM

I like Hemispheres, particularly Armaggedon. The bass riff is awesome.

rockinbass17 03-22-2006 05:07 PM

Great album. La Villa Strangiato is an overlookd instrumental, its so awsome.

BludgeonySteve 03-25-2006 11:39 PM

Yeah. It could possibly have Alex's best guitar solo.

Actually, I can't pick a favorite one :( :)

rockinbass17 03-26-2006 12:38 AM

I think my picks for his top three would be:

La Villa
2112- Soliloquy- so emotional
A Farewell to Kings- I like how he pushes the time.

thunderzstruck 03-26-2006 09:09 AM

yyz is a cool solo
i love the break down like part in limelight

Hmm, yeah, soliloquy is very emotional and beautiful sounding. My only complaint with it is that there are noticeable mistakes which you don't see on any of their albums after 2112 but you see on nearly every album before it. 'kings was definitly the album where they mastered the studio.

rockinbass17 04-09-2006 08:27 PM

Yeah, there is definatly noticable improvement in musicianship from '74 on, peaking at their late 70's early 80's years. Songwriting, too, got better during this time.

BludgeonySteve 04-25-2006 09:23 PM

Darn right.

BludgeonySteve 04-30-2006 10:03 PM

Ahem! Darn right!

What's everyone's opinion of the song Subdivisions? I love the keyboards on it.

Rattlehead 05-01-2006 04:38 AM

i have

Farewell to Kings
Hemispheres
2112

...what similar albums should i get? cause i like those. in that rocky style. i don't want Red Barchettarry sruff.

If you want more rocky stuff get Permanant Waves and everything released before it, that was before they started experimenting heavilly with the synth. Fly By Night is probably my favorite out of the 70's Rush.

Rattlehead 05-01-2006 07:15 AM

cool. yeah, i don't like their synth experimentation.

nice name lol.
