L' Via L' Viaquiz 08-17-2005 11:29 PM

Darkness 08-17-2005 11:38 PM

You shouldn't need an account... not if memory serves correctly.

I highly recommend Zack De La Rocha Network and Tom Morello Project for the ratm/tom fans out there. Awesome sites, with some really cool peopel. I'm on the ZDLR as "RunninFree"...

...I'M RUNNIN FREE YEAH! OH I'M RUNNIN FREE!

I thought it was awesome hearing Rage close out both Matrix films. I only wish the third movie used one. I think Born as Ghosts or even Bulls on Parade would've been perfect for the end of Revolutions.

Violent_Bill 08-18-2005 01:02 AM

Revolutions had shit all good music. I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT IT WAS SUCH A CRAP MOVIE!

I posted that a while back.

I only have self-titled, EE and The live album from the Grand Olympic stadium , all of which I love. I wouldnt compare R.A.T.M to any other band (yes including Audioslave who im a big fan of :p )
I was considering pickin up another album, ive head the battle for Los Angeles is good? Any Recomendations?
P.S Morello is amazing

Apocalyptic Raids 08-20-2005 06:53 AM

Get The Battle Of Los Angeles. Most consider BOLA to be second only to the self titled (i prefer EE to BOLA personally). Renegades is good, but is only a covers album and is probably their weakest release.

Both are worth getting though.

Shaft! 08-20-2005 07:16 AM

I agree with Apocalyptic Raids. BOLA is their last album of 100% original material. Renegades is excellent, however, if you want to listen to them cover their influences. I'll just say that their cover of "The Ghost of Tom Joad" is nothing like the original, but it's just as awesome.
I also like their covers of "Renegades of Funk", "In My Eyes", and "Beautiful World". "Beautiful World" will have you sort of ask yourself "This is Rage?!" It's an excellent Devo cover. :)
I'm sort of disappointed. I looked at the bass tabs for R.A.T.M. and they had the theme for Generation X listed as a song by Rage. One person claimed that they had seen a video of Rage performing it live in the ring, but I'm almost positive they were talking crap.

They had nothing to do with that song. Tom Morello said it himself.

ManicMusician 08-21-2005 05:07 AM

Just listened to the cover of "Renegades of Funk"
Wow...i love it

Kyle 08-21-2005 05:21 AM

they did preform the song in a wrestling ring, I've seen it.

As have I, though was about 6 -7 years ago i think..

DuncMaster 08-21-2005 06:09 AM

Really? Holy ****. Tom or someone said in the massive Official Rage FAQ, they had nothing to do with it.

TheMachineRagesOn 08-21-2005 06:14 AM

prolly, nothing to do with the actual song/songwriting maybe, im not sure was definately them tho, man thats taken me back some years..

Kyle 08-21-2005 08:22 AM

me too, back when wrestling was good.

*reflects upon its brilliance

Mambuto_O'Mally 08-21-2005 10:10 PM

Well, Mindset's A Threat is my new favorite RATM song. Awesome solo. AWESOME SOLO. AWESOME SOLO!!!!!!!!!!!:thumb:!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:thumb:!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Darkness 08-21-2005 10:12 PM

Audioslave is coming here October 1st... I'm so going... I can't wait to see the rage guys in action. They said they were opening up to more Rage covers to. :D

Dr. Jake Destructo 08-21-2005 10:15 PM

I'd like to hear them do some RATM covers. I guess Cornell DOES sing along to Killing in the Name and Sleep Now in the Fire.

TheDMV 08-21-2005 10:28 PM

I recently picked up Battle of Los Angeles and I must say, Rage is quickly becoming one of my favorite baands. IMO there's not a bad song on the album.

Dr. Jake Destructo 08-21-2005 10:33 PM

Glad you like it. RATM are known for their extremely solid albums. The only album that I feel has a few weak cuts is Evil Empire.

Darkness 08-21-2005 10:38 PM
I'd like to hear them do some RATM covers. I guess Cornell just kind of leaves the stage during them, which is kind of lame. It'd be interesting to hear him try and rap. :p
This isn't true, he sings Killing In The Name and Sleep Now In the Fire with them, but when they do their small portion of Bulls on Parade he just kinda steps back. I could upload my bootlegs if you wish.

Oh and the song with least amount of good songige is BOLA... 7,8,9,10 aren't very good.

Dr. Jake Destructo 08-21-2005 10:50 PM

Maria(8)is one of my favorite songs. :upset:

Madey said he left the stage. What a blasphemist. I'll download if you upload, since you offered. :)

Fix'd.

Darkness 08-21-2005 10:51 PM

Ashes is number 11, and its one of my favorite songs to. Uploads in a few min.

Originally I though BOLA to have quite a few mediocre songs, but after listening to it for over 5 years, i can say quite honestly that its still one of my fav cds, and there is something to like about every song

Shaft! 08-22-2005 06:16 PM

I liked BOLA for "Ashes in the Fall" and "Calm Like A Bomb". I've always liked "Born of a Broken Man" as well. It's one of only a handful of songs that really gives you insight into Zack's personal life, the others being "Settle for Nothing" and "Revolver" (Hey revolver, don't mothers make good fathers?".
I'm working on a cover of "Bombtrack" currently, and I hope I can get it done. I rehearse and rehearse, but when I try to record, I usually mess up. I was thinking on carrying on the solo a bit longer and sort of giving it a more blues-based sound...I hope that won't go over badly.
I decided to open it with an intro similar to the intro Morello gave "Bulls on Parade" at the Grand Olympic, but I might change that.
I actually am very glad Cornell doesn't sing "Bulls on Parade". I couldn't imagine the man rapping in really any way.
I'm wondering when they'll give Rage a more official "best of" album. I know that there was an unofficial one, I believe, but I've noticed that since some "best of" albums offer previously unreleased material, a "best of" album from Rage might have one surprise left for us.
I would think that'd be pretty cool, but R.A.T.M. might not have wanted that.
I saw a picture of Zack recently and he ditched his dreads. I'm not sure how old the picture was, but he just has a 'fro. I believe he was presenting at the Latin MTV awards or something.

Geezer1287 08-22-2005 06:38 PM

Has anyone heard Genocide? Good song, Zapatas blood is quite poor, no shelter was on the godzilla soundtrack i think? **** the police (originally NWA) cover was ok too, dunno why it wasnt on renegades.
