Ugh, please don't make us go into this....

I know we already touched briefly on this subject but are any of you guys in(classic rock) bands? if so how are they doing?

Mines going pretty we were actually invited to our most recent show and my lead guitarist pulled out a great solo in the middle of voodoo chile, he even played behind his head, and we got really good feedback.

dead56k 06-16-2004 08:46 PM

i never really thought of blue oaster cult as a motorcycle band

No one likes the music I like. So I spend my days making up odd musical forumulas, and just great ideas that would do great for bands that I like. But, of course, no band. But I'm young, so when I turn 20 or 18 or something. I'm boxcar train riding out of here :)

el Cid 06-16-2004 09:22 PM

I find something especially captivating about Blonde on Blonde. It is really hard to pick the greatest Bob Dylan album, so I'd prefer not to. Then again, I'm 16, what in the hell do I's Know?

Badmoon 06-16-2004 09:29 PM

^ For me it's either Freewheelin' or Bring it all Back Home.

hehe nice, you write any songs by yourself?
EDIT: what instrument(s) do you play?

Paranoidd 06-17-2004 09:11 AM
How popular is steppenwolf outside of canada? Because i've never really thought of them as being that big but they did have a few big hits and they make great music.
I play banjo, and drums. But I'm taking guitar lessons, and can play bass if I have to.
Canada 0wns :)

Musically, Canada doesn't really own. Rush, The Guess Who, Steppenwolf.

So, The Grateful Dead -Better vocals, better organ playing, better bass playing, better guitar playing.

The Allman Brothers - Better vocals, better guitar playing, better organ playing.

Each easily owns Rush, I just don't feel like naming more.

Paranoidd 06-17-2004 11:23 AM

Well Canada will probably legalize devilweed.

In which case Canada > US.

Also I don't think Rush can be compared to either Allman Brothers or Grateful Dead. Such musical differences.

Badmoon 06-17-2004 11:32 AM
Also I don't think Rush can be compared to either Allman Brothers or Grateful Dead. Such musical differences.
The difference aren't few, you just have to look at the big picture.
In which case Canada > US.
Well, if you enjoy tossing brain cells out, many by many, and you enjoy putting yourself at risk of dieing, then yes. I still would not care to live in Canada. The fact that I can live in this country and live in any climate the world can pretty much offer, and get a job easily, and for a kid who is the out cast of his school and town, that is a huge deal. Also, if you ever want to make it big, you go to the US. It's fabulous, I can also get so much more than most countries can offer. You take the your country, and neighbor to the south for granted.

VoodooChild 06-17-2004 11:44 AM

This kinda reminded me of South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut.

BLAME CANADA!!! BLAME CANADA!!! They're not even a real country anyway!...

Hahaha funny song...

Badmoon 06-17-2004 11:46 AM

Hahaha that and Canadian Bacon

Space Ace 06-17-2004 11:56 AM
This is the best thread ever. So good I even use punctuation. Now this thread must be good. My favorite classic rock band is probably Black Sabbath, Because Kiss dont count as Classic rock, And I love Led Zeppelin. :thumb:
you are wrong my friend how could you ever say that black sabbath isnt classic, you need a good wack in the head. :smash:

That doesn't matter anyway...free health care :smoke:
Not like I smoke alot anyway, I just think it is stupid to send people to jail for smoking it. Only thing stopping us is the amount of money that the US has spent on the war on drugs. I'm not anti-american or anything (although I am wearing this shirt right now.)

As far as Rush goes...we they are all talented musicians. Considering early Rush sounds **** near similar to Zeppelin, and the Grateful Dead started out as a jug band, both of which progressed to a different sound, I guess we just have to agree they are all talented musicians.

Do you live in one of those small aristocratic towns or something?

Badmoon 06-17-2004 12:53 PM

Not exactly, The Grateful Dead started as a Blues Psychedelia band. Pig, Jerry and Weir were in an earlier jug band, but that was not The Grateful Dead, nor did it have each Dead member.
Do you live in one of those small aristocratic towns or something?
I live an old crap town inside of a well urban town.

Paranoidd 06-17-2004 01:15 PM

That picture is entirely inaccurate. Canada does not possess any guns of such high caliber.

I feel for you if you live in an old crap town. As much as I hate people, I am grateful I live close to a major urban centre that is desensitized to most things. It is, however, full of ignorance (but where isn't?)
