Aesop Rock
You guys given me some great hip-hop from that thread |
Olivia Tremor Control - Music From the Unrealized Film Script, Dusk at Cubist Castle.
I still sometimes find myself a bit frustrated by the ambient sections, because I'd rather listen to the pop songs, because they're so awesome. Spectacular album. I hope Black Foliage is just as good. |
Damien Rice
and probably Kayo Dot. |
I listened to Menos El Oso the other day. I'm liking this band more now, but their vocalist is still boring.

Karate - Some Boots Russian Circles - Enter
Yessssss. Shakira - Oral Fixation, Vol. 2 TV on the Radio - Return to Cookie Mountain Glassjaw - Worship and Tribute Gastr del Sol - Camofleur |
Is Oral Fixation good? Laundry Service is pretty good, as far as I remember.
|
I like Vol. 2 a lot.
Really though, the songs no it are pretty dissimilar to "Hips Don't Lie". A lot of them are more pop-rockish and it's usually pretty interesting. And finally Carlos Santana doesn't ruin a song he guests on. |
Hah. Yeah, Laundry Service doesn't have that synthy squeak booty beat pop sound at all, so I figured that was a hype-making "CROSSOVER HIT."
|
Shakira can dance really good.
|

She sounds sort of like Alanis Morissette in English. But like, hotter and quirker at the same time. Somehow. |
The synth brass in "Mosquito Song" is so cheesey, but somehow not off-putting. I don't get how they do it.

Mussbe.

I guess he supports genocide then. |
Miles Davis - Birth Of The Cool
possibly the smoothest of all the smooth jazz. |
Not smooth jazz...cool jazz. Also known as West Coast jazz. Also known as white dudes.

Yeah I know I just like joking around and making fun of easy listening jazz. |
I want to see Kenny G. play some avant-garde stuff*.
*Getting a makeover also applies to this. |
Lately:
Built to Spill Beulah Cat Power |
"Rockets" is the best Cat Power song.
|
I'm partial to "He War" because it's so damn catchy. "Hate" and "I Don't Blame You" are up there, too.
|
King Crimson - In The Wake Of Poseidon
|
No Use For a Name - The Daily Grind
... ok, so indie isn't my favorite, but it's up there. |
post-whore

Mission of Burma and other stuff. Gonna see MoB tomorrow. Am I going to go deaf or am I going to go deaf, eh?
|
Probably not. Seeing that Roger Miller almost is.
|
Nas - Illmatic
one of the few albums that seems to get better every time I listen to it. N.Y. State Of Mind is so unbelievably badass. |
A whole bunch of Ted Leo.
|
The Buzzcocks - Singles Going Steady
Then a lot of sad bastard music: Red House Painters - Songs for a Blue Guitar Yo La Tengo - And Then Everything Turned Itself Inside-Out Jason Molina - Let Me Go, Let Me Go, Let Me Go |
