I find it funny that the vast majority of the posters that complain about the site are people that post 100% in the pit.

I never go into the pit so I really haven't heard anybody complain about the site. Time for a cigarette.
I go about 10% in the pit, and I complain about the site - but then, I only do that in the pit. :p |
Yeah, neither do I. It's not really funny at all.
What's the connection? I don't know of any coincidence involving PF and The Wizard of Oz. |
Wow, crazy Americans. I've never ever seen a bartender checking an ID. Or a cop in or near a bar, for that matter.
Yeah America often focuses on the wrong things. |
Slapping Penguin:
You killed the Community Thread!!!!!!!! /Americans care too much about the wrong things... :upset: How's everyone's night? I just got mercied in a hockey game. My team sucks. /am just as guilty as SP... where is everyone? well I'm leaving now. GOODNIGHT .....whoever is out there  toaster is out there! |
My brother broke his collarbone in hockey about an hour ago. I've had an awful night.

I think he broke his collarbone. OHHH, THAT'S A KNEE SLAPPER |
I think he broke his collarbone.

 Owned again. |
I broke my collarbone wrestling a couple years back. The first thing I did when I got home was order a pizza. Because my season was over, I could eat again.

Haha, nice. I've never wrestled before, but I heard the weight loss part is brutal. |
Haha, nice. I've never wrestled before, but I heard the weight loss part is brutal.
It can be if you do it dangerously (like starve yourself for days just to make weight). But if you at least eat something, like fruit or vegetables, it's not bad. It's worse for the smaller wrestlers, I think, than the bigger wrestlers. |
Yea, cutting weight on top of how hard the sport is anyway and all the other things I had to do (school, mainly) made me quit. It's a good sport, but as you said the weight-loss is brutal. I remember sitting in a sauna sweating out water weight after workouts. It literally felt like hell.
|
He fell awkwardly. He's broken it 3 times already, and each time it's become more prone to breaking. His hockey career probably ends here.
|
My dad wrestled when he was in high school, the cartilage in his knee is really messed up, when he flexes it you can here like...the cartilage just floating around, it's quite disturbing.
His hockey career probably ends here.
Geez, that's never a good day when someones career ends, how good at he was hockey? think he has somewhat of a future? |

The thing is, wrestlers usually have to lose weight quickly, so the whole healthy eating, slowly-but-surely thing doesn't work. It's incredibly unhealthy. And yes, for smaller wreslters it's harder because it's a larger proportion of body weight they are cutting. What I mean is that it's harder for someone weighing 120 pounds to lose 10 pounds than someone weighing 200 pounds to lose 10 pounds (in general). I cut down from 140 to 125 at the beginning of the season, and regularly had to cut 10 pounds every week to make weigh-ins. The thing is, that's probably just the average weight cutting for wrestlers, so I'm not trying to say I had it worse than everyone. |
I saw on this show celeb fit club (yes I like watching fat washed up celebs work out) that you're only supposed to lose like, 2-4 pounds each week.
|
What I meant was that I got down to 125 for the match, then went back up to 135-ish, and had to lose it again.
|
I know that; as soon as I made weight, I'd not do anything except drink some water and eat celery and be sure that I took a massive dump (seriously), but the problem is, when there's nothing in there, you can't export your goods, heh.
And yeah, it's not something a regular high schooler should be subject to doing - it just sucks, for lack of a better description. But for people that are passionate about it, they'll find a way to keep the weight off before their matches, pig out after the match, and then resort to having to cut weight at an extreme angle again. It just sucks. I guess I just didn't follow your train of thought when you replied to me - I didn't say that "slowly-but-surely" works constantly, or that it's a myth that wrestlers have to lose weight quickly. The 120 vs 200 wrestler is also kind of common sense : | I suppose I just misinterpreted you. My fault. |
Jeez, I bet that's torture on your body. My school is pretty good at wrestling, I guess. Terrible football team, though. I think we won around 3 games last season.

We're both saying the same thing :p |
Man, I'm lucky I play baseball, the only problem with that is we play Double-heders which last around 6 hours, those are painfull on my knees 'cause I catch both games. But I don't got to go through the emotional pain as some other sports carry.

Geez, that's never a good day when someones career ends, how good at he was hockey? think he has somewhat of a future?
He didn't really have a future. He was a good player, but he was more focused on academics.. he really loved it though. He may be out of commission on guitar for a few weeks as well. |

And Jom, I don't think we were arguing about anything. We're both saying the same thing :p
I'm sorry, haha. I've just had a really long week. Not terrible, but just one of those bleh weeks, heh.
[W]e play Double-heders which last around 6 hours, those are painfull on my knees 'cause I catch both games.
I know how this gets, too, hahaha. Do you have those Knee-Saver things? I don't like them, but man, they help out. July is the worst month. There's always blue sky, but the sun is constantly weighing on you and in your face the entire time. Up, down, up, down, up, down... for at least seven innings, for two games. It's killer, but man, there's no other position I'd rather play than the 2. |
My week was surprisingly long considering I had Monday off and I have a partial schedule now (get out at 12:30 every day instead of 1:55).
I used to play catcher back in the day, I remember some of those long days. Nothing as serious as the competition you're talking about, but I still can relate. |
Ugh... so have I. Alcoholic parents blow.
|
I have to get up early tomorrow for driving classes. 8:30 'till 3:30. I don't even know anyone attending.
|
That sucks. I haven't even taken the learners test yet.
