I think this accurately depicts almost all of their songs. |
theres imageshack.us for images:)
And whats that suppose to signify mother****er. |
I think it has lots. Especially BTPSIO.
Damn right, I love the part that has the dement circus feel to it. |
SL>GR>D2>MAYH>BP>M>D1>O
False. SL>MAYH>MR>BWP>D2>O>GR>D1 |
False.
SL>MAYH>MR>BWP>D2>O>GR>D1
lol. To be honest, they're not even *that* far out besides the fact I think your MR is too high, and GR is too low. *shrug* |
I think GR is kind of overrated in these forums, there aren't any real masterpieces like the others.
Your Mayh was too low :( |
I think GR is kind of overrated in these forums, there aren't any real masterpieces like the others.
Your Mayh was too low :(
Sorry, I could put MAYH above Damnation if it makes you feel better, but I still feel SL and GR are better in terms of quality. I love MAYH though. It's just like I adore SL, GR, D2, MAYH as albums. BWP I adore half the songs from it, and don't like the latter half too much, Morningrise gave me huge shivers in some of the acoustic/clean parts the first time I heard it, so it has a special place for me but I don't think the songwriting is as good as other albums. Deliverance is clearly a rocking out album for the mostpart and I don't feel like it's up to Opeth standards apart from title track and maybe AFJ. Orchid.. I never got into, Morningrise without giving me goosebumps. Loads of people simply don't like the direction Opeth are going in, which seems to be including their Damnation 70's prog style more into their heavier music as well. I do like it, however. I don't want them to make another Morningrise or My Arm's Your hearse, you know. I think the more well produced direction with more clean and weird proggy parts than usual is definately working well for them and I hope they expand upon it. I can see why a lot of metalheads, or Opeth fans wouldn't like it though, and I can definately see why someone wouldn't like TGC, which I find to be the weakest song on there. |
TGC is soo f-ing good live through.
|
Opeth will never make another MAYH or MR because thats just not who they are anymore. Mikael explains that on the Lamentations DVD, which is pretty amazing I might add.
They still perform DOTF, so I'm happy with that. |
Yeah, he said that even though he knows that sound was really good, he's just tired of playing it. Mikael said that so many bands were playing that same sound that he just became sick of listening to it. I don't really have a problem with them not playing it again because I really like the direction that they're going in right now. Ghost Reveries, while not being the best of Opeth releases, was still something new and exciting.
|
ive got every opeth album with the exception of damnation and deliverance. i've got to say that blackwater park and morningrise are my favourites. but GR is still pretty immense, more of a grower than the others.

yup, so freaking creepy, and awesome. And the bass line after that, so eery.. |

Wasnt he talking about Orchid and Morningrise? |
He said he was sick of the Dual guitars on the 1st 2 releases and preffered heavy riffing.
Np - Wreath. |
He said he was sick of the Dual guitars on the 1st 2 releases and preffered heavy riffing.
Np - Wreath.
Mmmmmmm....heavy riffing. I must say that I agree with him in that their older sound would be really tiring if that's all they did. Their new sound is something really great and they should keep making songs like they are now because they have so much potential. NP - Opeth - Master's Apprentices I'm on the part right now with the harmonized vocals. Steve Wilson is awesome in this part, and really knows how to make the vocals sound amazing. |
I was just listening to that in my car. (was getting a kebab )
Love it, especially played blasting from a car. |

When I drive to my sister's I always play Black Rose Immortal... She lives about 20minutes away. :smoke:
|
I usually only listen to that song while I'm working or doing another activity. While that song is pretty amazing, it's pretty hard for me to pay attention to one song for 20 minutes, even though it is Opeth.

Yeah when his backing parts are really loud they sound awful, but when they're placed in the back of the mix I think they sound really nice. I have to admit that I laughed when I first heard them, and was like "are you serious? These vocals suck!"...and then I heard the finished product and changed my mind. Lamentations DVD is like sex. |
lol yea, the end production is really great. its 'lush':p
|
Guys, check the latest update on the Opeth site. Martin Lopez has left Opeth, for good...
I expected much faster replies.... MARTIN LEFT OPETH |

Mikael said Axe willl stay with them. I bet their death metal parts will improve, but the slower parts... I donno if Axe has the heart to do that stuff.

Argh, don't remind me about the soft stuff. Lopez's work on the soft sections was one of the most awe inspiring parts of the band. :upset: |
