Really. I have always been told it would get ruined if it was washed.
thats for certain hair types, and usually they dont shampoo and condition when they "wash"

Tyler 02-03-2006 03:47 PM

Using beeswax will speed it up, but you can just manually dread your hair. I had one dread for a while that I did out of boredom, haha.

Josh 02-03-2006 04:03 PM

a mate of mine once got dreads. he kept them all of 6 weeks, then got them shaved off cos he didnt like them and they itched.

Stormrider 02-03-2006 04:29 PM
Yeah. The songs were pretty good. Im going to check more out by them hopefully soon.
Oh ok...cool. Glad to know you like them.

TojesDolan 02-03-2006 04:38 PM

I want facial hair.

I have that really really bugging little hair that is between uncomfortable and not beardy enough to look cool.

Ugh.

Tyler 02-03-2006 04:42 PM

It's overrated, seriously.

Big beard, you say?

I guess so. My beardy friends say it's a bitch because it itches like there's no tomorrow.

Anyhow, My hair is slowly growing back to it's normal size, after the super mega crazy shaving craze among my friends.

Nostalgia 02-03-2006 05:51 PM

I shave my little hair above my lip only 'cause I like heating the shaving cream up and making a shaving cream beard.

Nah, mine itches for a short few days period while coming in from scratch, and then it's good. The longer it is the better though.

Bartender 02-03-2006 06:23 PM

I'm too lazy to shave.
I was thinking about doing a series in The Pit that would basically be teaching people about something I find interesting, be it about the law, or math, or psychology, or whatever I feel like teaching about. I did one of these before (it was in psychology, regarding the Bem-Androgeny scale), and it kind of took off after the first few posts of "There's no way I care about this." So, I was wondering if you guys would be interested in me continuing it. For example, I could write one here and show you the statistical inner workings of the R&M competitions. Would you guys be cool with this, and maybe even read these little lessons, or what?
It would depend what the article was on, but hypothetically, yes, I'd read it. If it was something I was interested in, or became interested in in starting to read the thread. If not though, I probably wouldn't read or post, so it might not be worth it :-/ So it'd have to be up to you, of course.

Is anyone here familiar with Ed Byrne?

Hahahaha.

Sorry, heh :)

Anyways:

Well, part of my reasons for doing it is because it'd be good practice for me; furthermore, however, is the rate users are whining about The Pit. "Our community thread got taken away by NPC" or "There isn't equal modding here" or what-have-you. I'm definitely not saying that this is a cure-all, but hopefully people will learn from it. That's all I'm shooting for really, and hope it gets good feedback over the more... (antagonizing?)... kinds of threads that have been going on recently.

I'm sorry but what the hell does The Pit need a Community thread for?
I'm sorry but what the hell does The Pit need a Community thread for?
It was all spam.

Exactly, thats all The Pit is.

Nostalgia 02-03-2006 07:02 PM

I know, the pit is basicley a community. Some hardcore shit been going down there recently.
I'm sorry but what the hell does The Pit need a Community thread for?
Some users felt it was instrumental in bolstering the community forum...

... by having a community thread.

It was going to get deleted every week, but another mod decided enough was enough early.

The aforementioned users then pissed and moaned about it (some way more than others), and then gave up because it is/was futile arguing with Joe.
Exactly, thats all The Pit is.
For the most part, yeah. The subforums there are good.

Kingofdudes 02-03-2006 07:08 PM

I find it funny that the vast majority of the posters that complain about the site are people that post 100% in the pit.

I never go into the pit so I really haven't heard anybody complain about the site.

Time for a cigarette.

They seem to know a different MX then everyone else.

The Pit is basically pure spam, these days at least.

Kingofdudes 02-03-2006 07:22 PM

Hey look! Someone on my ignore list just posted in here.

Jacaranda 02-03-2006 07:23 PM

Once in awhile you'll find a good theard, but thats rare. The Pit is good thing to pass time in though.

Jom 02-03-2006 07:25 PM

The Pit has potential for being a great place, and some users are trying to make it a better place. But, too many users define "having fun" as spamming or being morons, rather than just hanging around and acting normally. Sure, John (jimmybowels, that is) is much more active on TE, but he's never been a problem in The Pit because he's not a tool; rather, he's a stand-up guy.

Everyone has a different definition for how The Pit should be run and enforced, and that's what leads to problems more than anything, I think.

The Pit's a nice place to chill out in, but when there's excessive crap going on, it's hard to have fun there. The sub-forums are definitely far superior than the main forum, but at least the crap is, for the most part, isolated there and not everywhere else. Which is kind of what The Pit should be for, but not necessarily a cesspool.
