Does that mean quarter notes at 160? which in turn could be 8ths at 80?

If the metronome doesn't have subdivisions, then you can assume that each beat is a quarter. Hitting a 'RLRL' between each beat makes out to be 16th notes.

We went to the casino buffet for my uncles birthday.
