Ricardo Villalobos - "Thé Au Harem D'Archimède"
This record will change how you think about house music. I.e., it will make you like it. |
Just finished Akron/Family's new one Meek Warrior. It was pretty alright, got a little samey. But the first track destroys.
|
We are scientists - With Love and Squalor
Very catchy. I like. |
I started listening to Silver Jews' American Water yesterday and Tanglewood Numbers today.
I'd rather live in a trash can than see you happy with another man |
AIDS Wolf - The Lovvers EP
Justin Timberlake - Futuresex/Lovesounds Gay For Johnny Depp - Blood: The Natural Lubricant (An Apocalyptic Adventure Beyond Sodom And Gomorrah) A-Frames - A-Frames A-Frames - A-Frames 2 Slipknot - Vol. 3: The Subliminal Verses (hahah) Slint - Spiderland Lesbians On Ecstacy - Lesbians On Ecstacy and other assorted crap
Aids, Gays, Lesbians, Drugs and Slipknot. Does your mother know what unholy things you're doing? Cursive - Domestica So good. I really need the new album. |
Mr. Bungle - Disco Volante
I always regard this as their worst effort yet every time I listen to it I keep on realizing how much I love it. |

Comets on Fire - Avatar

That band is fucking nuts |
Continuing my Television-"Venus" obsession:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PqU4sn-JodE Tom Verlaine tries to teach Richard Hell how to play the bassline to "Venus" (the second part of the video should be linked somewhere on that page as well). It's pretty funny because Hell is really wasted and I can see why they replaced him before recording Marquee Moon. |
That band is fucking nuts
damn right. David Bowie - The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust |
Justin Timberlake - FutureSex/LoveSounds
Sun Kil Moon - Ghosts of the Great Highway Amazing. I don't think I've had this sort of reaction much after only listening to an abum once, but yeah, nacho you were right on the money. In places it reminded me a little bit of Ryan Adams (which can only be a good thing). It has a bit of a country feel sometimes and I dig that immensely. Neutral Milk Hotel - In the Aeroplane Over the Sea It's ok. It has about as many great moments as it does really annoying ones, so it balances out. I can't see myself really getting into this album much. And now I'm listening to Shout Out Louds - Howl Howl Gaff Gaff. It's pretty good stuff. |
I saw the Shout Out Louds supporting The Strokes, they were pretty dissapointing to be honest. I had liked a few of their songs beforehand, but it didn't translate well live.

Cursive - Domestica So good. I really need the new album.
no, she doesn't. :p & yeah, the new cursive album is great. i was really really really addicted to it for like 3 weeks straight. |

I'd rather live in a trash can than see you happy with another man
David Berman is the best songwriter. |
I'm reviewing American Water. Tanglewood Numbers doesn't compare to it at all.
I'm reviewing American Water. Tanglewood Numbers doesn't compare to it at all.
If you give AW anything besides a 5 you're almost certainly wrong. Today I've listened to: R.E.M. - Murmur Bonnie "Prince" Billy - The Letting Go And I jammed some Lifter Puller, Jesus Lizard, and Shellac last night. |
Been getting into some Smiths, New Order and such :)
|
Venetian Snares - Cavalcade Of Glee And Dadaist Happy Hardcore
Camel - The Snow Goose Pixies - Doolittle |
Screeching Weasel - My Brain Hurts
Probably the greatest pop-punk album of all time. Each song is similar with its own unique hook. |
I'm listening to the Pixies for the first time in half a year, I forgot how good they were.
|
Yo La Tengo - I Can Hear The Heart Beating As One
So I guess I'm really late in checking this band out, but this record is making me amazed. I have to take it slowly, too much goodness to take in at once. |

Welcome to the revolution buddy. I'm jamming British Sea Power's The Decline of British Sea Power right now and thinking these guys are just about the best goddamn thing ever. Or at least definitely one of the best modern true rock acts. |
The Mars Volta.
|
A mix of Youth Group, and The Early November.
|
I've been going through the Magnetic Fields' 69 Love Songs for most of the afternoon.
|
I can't decide. I was listening to Yusef Lateef earlier, but now it's just like what. I think I'll play some Charles Mingus and cap it off with something nice and poppy.
|
Beulah - When Your Heartstrings Break
TV on the Radio - Return To Cookie Mountain |
I'm listening to the Pixies for the first time in half a year, I forgot how good they were.
Wow, exactly the same here.
|
