Is it just me or does everyone in loytons picture have brown brown eyes... Wow, but good job asking that girl out shes pretty hot.

The reason I came in here, out of all the clinicians/independent drummers who do you think is the best(Mangini, Lang, Minnomen people in that catagory) I ask because I want to pick up one or two DVDs. Probably going go get Tommy Igoe and Bissonette, but not sure, the minnomen clips didn't intrest me too much. Its between Bissonette and Lang for the second but if theirs other people to know about I'd like to know other freelancing drummers

LoneStarDrummer 11-17-2005 10:25 PM

if you play double bass and are looking for some serious coordination then i'd say check out lang.

For the second video I'm mainly looking for inspiriation. I'm looking to learn the most from Igoe, so the second one just something I can imitate a little now and when I get better I'll be able to go through it

poppinfresh 11-17-2005 10:35 PM

get something with groove definetly. to balance things out.

Loyton 11-17-2005 10:36 PM

Lang's dvd is awsome. And to Focker, my eyes are green grey a real strange color. I had them closed obiously.

ohh okay. imo Lang's dvd is more of something you should put a lot of attention and effort towards. so you'll probably want to pass on that one in this case if your looking for inspiration. don't get me wrong Lang can be inspiring. i sometimes listen to the song that plays during the main menu as inspiration, but in his creative control dvd it's mostly exercises, not really something to watch and get motivated to try and imitate with just the casual viewing.

at least that's how i feel.

Loyton 11-17-2005 10:42 PM

i can understnd your point totally ^ but i was VERY inspired by the sheer technique. The play alongs, everything, i loved it.

Igoe is groove enough for me. I'd say my playing is 80% groove and 20% chops, seriously before I heard my teacher play I heard noone groove like me in real life and I heard alot of people play in music stores and some guys had crazy chops, even the drummers who play only jazz in my school don't come close. My teacher grooves HUGELY though, I would say that he grooves better then ANYONE I have heard in videos too. I could probably watch him play for longer then Gadd. He played the kit for about 5 minutes and it wasn't even set up, he is such an amazing player its not even funny. I wish I could groove like that but he is a different type of player then me so I know that I will never be able to play like that because it comes from inside so no matter how much you much you practice you won't be able to play with emotion like that

My jazz band concert went pretty well tonight. We were the band with the least experience and played pretty well. We played two songs and both of them went well. I'll try to put up the song I played for if I can find the audio.

My jazz band played a gig tonight as well. We did alright. Me and 2 of my friends (one on guitar, one on keyboard) got to fill up a bit of time too. We played 4 songs: our own arrangements of Fur Elise and Carol of the Bells, a song we wrote just an hour before the performance, and a riff that we just jammed on that kinda turned into a song as we played. Hooray for improvisation.

alexmonty12 11-18-2005 08:08 AM

Man, my band (i hate saying MY band, but you get my drift) played last night at my school. We playing Rage Against the Machine - Know Your Enemy, it was awesome, we hadn't played in a year

Hopefully we're gonna play again at the end of this month.

RichHunt 11-18-2005 08:16 AM

My drumkit is packed up.

It's in my room so I can't spread myself out.

The slight OCD in me is causing me to freak out a little.

I miss someone severely.

I seriously want to jam with someone on drums and/or bass.

I have exams coming up.

I'm freaking out for no reason, I don't freak out, not me.

I had my last year 12 German exam last Tuesday and I think I did badly.

Ben Folds is much more calming than Karnivool/Cog/Tool/Matchbook Romance.

Needless to say I'm kinda freaking out, I can't wait till exams are over.
