Hey man, hows things?
Gala Mill is pretty damm cool. It's the record which cements the "Drones-sound". It's really sparse and a lot quieter than anything else they've done, but it has some of the best imagery I've ever, ever heard. It's brutal as ****, check it out.
Same shit different day, you know how it goes. Yeah I should check the album out. The imagery and "brutal as fuck" sound great, but I'm not the biggest fan of some of the quieter moments on Wait Long... so I'm not so sure. I'll check it anyway. |
I don't appreciate that at all. Rub it in my face, smartass.
Not only that, they are playing in the tiniest venue so ill be pretty much face to face with them. |
Fair enough. To be fair, some of the album gets kinda monotonous musically, but if you're diggin' the words it all fits nicely. It's very Australian as well, so the inner patriot might come out lol.

Yea, I agree. Can't beat the 10 dollar ticket either. |
Sure you can. $5 ticket. :)

So what you're sayin' is it might make me want to have a gutful of beer and throw a couple steaks on the BBQ? Wait I did that on the weekend. |
No no. It'll make you want to drink rum, visit Port Mcquarrie and try and smell the prisoners blood.
|
I don't drink rum so that should be interesting.
|
hmm...
Junior Boys - So This Is Goodbye TV on the Radio - Return to Cookie Mountain Yo La Tengo - I am Not Afraid of You And I Will Beat Your Ass Xiu Xiu - The Air Force All spread throughout the day. One early this morning, then 2 hours later, then 3 hours later, and now 5 hours later with Xiu Xiu. |
Yeah, I picked up that record a couple weeks ago. I like it too.
|
Digging Megadeth and Opeth right now, can't wait for gigantour.

Apart from a couple of really great tracks (namely "Ladyflash") it just doesn't really work. |
TV on the Radio
Justin Timberlake Steve Reich John Cage |
Logic Pro 7 instruments
|
The Beatles - Abbey Road
The second side of the album finally sounds right on iTunes with the addition of gapless tracks. Sebadoh - III "The Freed Pig" is such a catchy album opener. Comets on Fire Everything else right now seems boring in comparison. |
pitchfork like it? I hate it then.
|
i don't even find that new single to be remotely catchy.
|
i see nothing remotely appealing about "Sexy Back". at all. it's like listening to an ego-charged teenybopper boy wank off in the mirror to generic pop beats and overproduced synth lines.
|
I thought it was pretty crap at first, but something made me want to listen to it anyway. And now I like it. The album is really good.

pfft, middle of the hill helps remind me it's summer soon. yah, it's a bit queasy and all but i like it |
OK i learned Pink Flag almost note for note on the bass, but that whole album doesnt give me a fraction of the trouble figuring out as Television's "Venus" does. There are so many notes and they don't have any relation to the guitar or drums at all! But it's so much fun that I compel myself to learn it, even the crazy stuff in the guitar solo section
|
I should actually pick up my bass again one day.
|
Neutral Milk Hotel - In the Aeroplane Over the Sea
finally listened after owning it for three months |
Yeah, Television's rhythm section is one of the main reasons I'll never understand the way The Strokes are compared to them. Strokes songs have a definite groove, a driving beat, where everyone is pretty much playing the same thing. Television songs have no groove because the drummer, bassist, and guitars are all doing their own thang. It's definitely not a bad thing to have no groove, I'm just pointing out the difference.

Just recently finally picked this up, having gotten The Correct Use of Soap a couple of years ago, and having loved it. I remember listening, on WRM's recommendation, to songs like "Motorcade" and "The Great Beautician in the Sky" ages ago, when 'post punk' was a distant concept for me, and being thoroughly confused. The Feeling - Twelve Stops and Home I'd planned to pick this up pretty much ever since I heard Sewn and liked it. The reviews (both the casual music fans' "this is the best album ever"s and the higher-brow review sites' "this is a cynical marketing ploy"s) surrounding it are annoying, though. It's just a pretty good pop album. Also, is anyone here familiar with Bedouin Soundclash? I'm wondering if I should pick up their album sometime soon, or wait to buy it if/when I love them live at the end of October. |
